Contractor (Three Guys Concrete) has not fulfilled his contract obligation to repair a crack on the driveway and a long crack along the concrete ramp. The original concrete work that his company has installed on our property was done on September 2012. During construction, there was a crack that appeared along the entire length of the newly laid concrete ramp and issue was reported to the owner, Tony Puloka. Tony agreed and signed in writing to fully address the crack issue to owner's satisfaction, including excavating the existing ramp and laid new concrete as called in contract after reasonable attempts by contractor is exhausted. Tony and his crew attempted quick fixes to patch the crack (on November 2012) and again staining the crack (on July 2013), falling short of fixing the issue and the contracted obligation. Homeowner attempted to contact the contractor through many emails, phone calls, and voice mails, with limited response and no commitment from Tony to fully address this crack issue. We gave Tony ample opportunities and time to address the issue before filing this review. Due to this unresponsiveness to address the issue, we have also filed a complaint with BBB. He tends to make excuses like unable to access because the gate was closed. He failed to account the fact that the crack on our driveway was actually outside the gate. We have no issues with his employees (they worked hard), just that the owner lacks responsibility and accountability.
Description of Work: Set up forms, compact sub-grade and pour concrete steps, ramp, and parking area with pea gravel expose aggregrate.

Response from Three Guys Concrete LLC
This letter comes as a response to [member name removed] (our customer’s) statement. Let us first state that it is our goal to complete the job set to do and to add the [member name removed] to our long list of satisfied customers. All our past customers have consistently been very satisfied and set us referrals. We are confident that given the opportunity we can make it happen here as well. Just to give you some background information: [member name removed] (the customer) contacted Three Guys Construction LLC (that’s us, the contractor) to build a concrete patio, ramp, driveway and steps. Three Guys Construction submitted a work bid per the customer’s request. Upon review of the work bid, the customer decided to hire another contractor with a lower bid to do the work. In the process the customer was unsatisfied with the quality of the work that was done by that other contractor and subsequently turn to Three Guys Construction do repair and finish the work. Three Guys Construction gave an itemized bid on 9/15/13, which included fixing the patio, adding the ramp, finishing the work left and to clean-up. Once the work began [member name removed] were making requests outside the scope of the work bid (see attachment), which Three Guys Construction accommodated, to show good faith and generosity. Weeks after the work was completed, [member name removed] point out a crack on the edge of the concrete parking area, that by his own account, was done by a heavy garbage service track after Three Guys Construction completed the job. [member name removed] requested Three Guys Construction to repair it, which Three Guys Construction agreed to do FOR FREE. In another area [member name removed] pointed out a hairline crack on the surface of the ramp where Three Guys Construction did the work. I inspected the site and we agreed to wait 3 months (for the concrete to set) to see if the surface hairline crack would indicate a crack in the concrete. After the wait period there was no crack in the concrete, only a hairline on the surface. Hairline cracks are not unusual in concrete work. Three Guys Construction filled in the hairline crack. This type of cosmetic crack is normally overcome with a surface epoxy filling (industry standard) and a light stain. Mr. Tony Puloka advised [member name removed] in advance that merely filling the hairline may leave a light inconsistency in color and suggested to staid the surface of the ramp, again-free of charge. Mr. Tony Puloka and [member name removed] discussed the ramp staining and having no guarantee that the stain shade will be exact as the concrete patio that the ramp leads to. Currently there is no crack in the ramp, only a very slight discoloration because the stain has not been applied over it yet. To make the ramp uniform color Mr. Tony Puloka offers to stain the surface of the ramp, free of charge. Since the time when Three Guys Construction began the work, [member name removed] added a gated fence around the work site making the job site inaccessible without the owner’s presence. Three Guys Construction made five attempts to access the job site and to arrange for access to the job. The customer and the contractor attempted to find mutually convenient times.Three Guys Construction’s ultimate goal is to add [member name removed] to their long list of satisfied customers. I propose to resolve this issue by having the client choose among two mutually convenient times for Three Guys Construction work crew to stain the ramp. Three Guys Construction respectfully asking that the client adhere to the limits of the job scope and avoid making additional demands outside of the work scope agreed upon, and make the job site accessible on the mutually agreed date and time.

The contractor met me at the site on 7/9/2013 to review the project in order to prepare an estimate. He said I would hear from them in a couple of days. Two weeks went by with no word, so I called a couple of times and left voice messages. None of my calls were returned. It has now been 7 weeks since the site visit, but still no word.

I emailed 3 guys on July 2nd. Tony promptly responded saying that he could come by Thursday morning at 8am to meet with us and to look at our driveway. I responded immediately to remind him that this was the 4th of July but if he was willing, both me and my husband would be there to meet with him. I did not get a response so I just assumed that he would be there. Thursday morning came and went without hearing from Tony. He had my cell #, my address, and my email. I emailed him saying that I guess he forgot about us because he was now 1hour and 45 minutes late. It is now Monday the 8th and I have still not heard a word from him. You certainly won't get good reviews from us.....

We had a few questions about the concrete stairs to our porch. Tony was great and came by to take a look at them. He said they could do some work but suggested a fix we could do ourselves. We ended up following his suggestion and it worked really well. I so appreciate his honesty and will definitely call him when we need them replaced. He came highly recommended from a friend who had their driveway replaced.

The work itself looked great. It took two days. The weather was good. My biggest complaint was slowness of response. Tony was very responsive to my request for a quote. Once I gave the go ahead he said he'd call me with the date. He didn't call so I called him. We were still discussing finishes and color by email and phone when he didn't respond to emails, so when I sent him the deposit I included a letter finalizing what I wanted. On the day of the pour, his guys were getting ready to apply a finish we had talked about but never finalized. I stated in my letter that I did not want it and to just use a brush finish. I also had included an Angie's List coupon. He did not remember the letter or the coupon suggesting he didn't read the mail. Fortunately, both Tony and I were standing there so the driveway was left with just the brush finish. Tony was always professional when I spoke to him in person or on the phone but it was frustrating trying to get follow up responses in a timely manner.

Called and left a message. Owner called back and said he was in the neighborhood and would come by and look at the project. He was 45 minutes late. I helped show him what we were thinking and he was cooperative to point out that it was necessary to demolish and remove the existing concrete. He took measurements and jotted down my name and email. I never received a quote or estimate and have not heard back. I have left a couple of messages and no return phone call.

I didn't choose the lowest bid because I could tell such a difference in how the three differnt people bidding purposed to do the job. Tony was wonderful to work with and I could tell by his suggestions and explanations how much thought and care he took. That first assessment worked out beautifully with a very expert job and smooth dealings between Tony and ourselves. We had to work around the weather but Tony kept in good contact. He also was there to inspect the forms and oversee the pour. The team did such careful work and excellent cleanup. We are thrilled with our walkway and driveway.

I picked this contractor based on the reviews on this site. Things started well, Tony came right over to provide an estimate that was in-line with the others. Unfortunately, the whole experience is overshadowed by the fact that the crew damaged our sliding glass door and broke the tile grout during the removal of the existing step. I was home during the project and heard a strange sound. When I went to investigate, I find the crew is bending the bottom of the sliding glass door frame while they are removing the existing step. Apparently, they had not completely severed the door frame from the existing concrete step so, as they were working to drag the step away from the house, it was dragging the door frame away from the house also. I stopped the crew immediately and they were very apologetic stating "if we brake it we fix it." I was a little concerned due to the fact the door frame was about 1/2" out of skew and the door wouldn't open/close so I called Tony. He said he was out of town, but would be on-site the next day. In the meantime, once the door frame was completely severed from the step, the door frame had shifted back into position. When I discussed the issue with Tony the following day, he indicated he didn't know anything about doors and we would need to get a "door" guy to look at it. I followed up 2 other times and did not get any response. My financing for the project was time sensitive so I had to pay this guy in good faith that we would get this resolved. Still no response from Tony and the door has issues that it looks like I am going to have to pay to fix. Other issues include: crew had to use wheelbarrows through my grass and didn't use plywood, there are no expansion joints in the 33' slab despite being told there would be 2 or 3 and the slope is ridiculous. Everyone involved knew we were replacing the patio to have a hot tub installed and the slope is an issue with the tub water. My only recourse at this point is to let the other members know of my experience and that there is no way I can recommend this company. The fact Tony chose to ignore the sliding glass door issue is also short-sighted as I will need future concrete work (driveway and entryway). A good businessman would have noticed this fact and probably worked a little harder to secure future business.

I had several estimates for the work, decided to go with 3 Guys because they put in twice as much rebar for the same price as the next best bid and because they worked with an asphalt repair person who did some additional work at a very good price without me having to deal with a separate contractor. The process did take a little longer than Tony originally said (mainly because the asphalt work had to wait until the concrete had set longer.) A couple of months after the work was done, some rust stains showed up in a prominent place in the driveway. I sent a couple of pictures to Tony and he got someone out to repair it as soon as the weather permitted. VERY good response on repairing the work, even though the rust was not from rebar, but just from something that had been in the concrete mix. The repair is almost invisible.

Three Guys Concrete did a great job replacing our carport slab. First, they came out on short notice and gave me a quick estimate for the work. They then worked with my primary contractor to set up the work in conjunction with having our carport/deck torn down & replaced, smoothed and installed the rebar one day then came back the next as scheduled and finished the pour in one day. They did a marvelous job smoothing the concrete. My primary contractor was impressed.

Much better than previous concrete jobs done here before. Their crews were very efficient and got the project done in short order. WE could not have asked for better service or work.
Description of Work: 3 Guys Construction and Mr. Tony Puloka removed and replaced about 130' of concrete walkways and included a golf cart exit and entrance adjacent to our golf course. His crews were timely, efficient and professional in every way. Their work product was above reproach.Mr. Puloka supervised the pour and finishing efforts of his crew and surprisingly it was not easy to determine where the newly poured concrete and the old surfaces met after it dried. Their work was perfection. We'd hire him again and again without reservation.

l contacted Three Guys Concrete to provide some quotes both for a neighbor and myself. Tony the owner came out to look over various jobs for which a large one was to provide a quote for my large driveway. I provided detailed plans of the driveway which included stamped boarders, exposed aggregate, etc. But when I contacted Tony many days later for the quotes promised, I was told he was not interested. That he would NOT provide me with a quote for my driveway nor was he even interested in even doing my driveway at all which is not small and is very intricate in design. And when I asked why he would not even provide a quote, he stated he was not interested. When asked why he was not even interested in doing what I believe would be a lucurative job, he stated he did not have to give me an answer as to why. I stated to Tony that I would file a "F" rating on Angies List (which he is the highest rated for concrete driveways) for his behaviour and unprofessionalism, but he did not seem to care. It is one thing for a business to turn down work, it is another thing when asked by the potential customer why the work is being turned down and being refused to provide an explanation. Wanting to obtain a quote and possible business with the top rated company for driveways was my intention (why not start at the top?) now I must look elsewhere on Angies List or elsewhere for a contractors who will treat me and my request for a quote with respect and not be arrogantly and rudely blown off by the owner of a company who really could care less in customer support or satisfaction. Based on Three Guys Concrete's treatment of me, I do plan on informing my neighbors or anyone else not to even bother with this company. How they achieved a top rating is beyond me, if Tony and Three Guys Concrete treated them the same way as they did me!!

Response from Three Guys Concrete LLC
When I met the member to discuss his project, he took me to his neighbor across the street and showed me an unfinished concrete steps that another contractor that he had recommended did in the the past few weeks. The member told me that they are suing this contractor but wanted me to fix the problem. I told him the only way to fix it was to replace the steps. He then said, it would be too expensive and his neighbor won't want to do that. I also told him that I would not want to get involve and won't be interested in doing this project. He insisted and demanded that I gave him a quote so his neighbor can have something in writing to support their case in this law suit. He then showed me his other neighbor's new driveway that this contractor just put in and pointed to me the flaws on it. At this point, I knew that I am dealing with an angry man. He finally showed me his driveway that he wanted done. He also said that this contractor that he recommended to his neighbors and co-workers had received more than $20K worth of business and he expected to have his driveway done for free as a kickback. After this half hour of hearing him out with his complaints, I sensed that he is trying to find someone to fix the damages his contractor had done to his neighbors and co-workers. I tried my best to tell him that I would not want to get involve and I am too busy serving my other customers. Despite my best effort, he demanded that because I have the highest rating on Angie's List, I must give him a quote. Three days later, he called me and asked for the quote and again I told him that I am not interested. He was so mad at me and said that he would give me a bad rating. I tried to explain to him my reason for not wanting to get involved but he hung up the phone. About 30 minutes later, I called him back and tried again to reason with him but he cut me off and then said not to call him back again. On the following day, he sent me an email reminding me of his bad rating he put on the List. I sincerely tried to apologize to him but to no avail. Tony

I set up an appointment with Tony a week in advance to have him come by and give an estimate. I rushed home from work to meet him at 4 pm. He never showed up. Tony responded promtly to every call, was very helpful in the planning stages and was very responsive to my requests for corrections and changes during the job. The Three Guys crew worked on my job only and poured when it was not raining; no delays in completion.Tony's bid was not the lowest but I do not see how any company could have done a better job. I am only interested in quaility work with zero hassles; this is what I got from Three Guys. Very professional from start to finish. If you hire them I don't think you will be dissappointed.
Description of Work: Demo and remove old asphalt driveways and walk. Form and pour stamped borders and aggregate fields on 2 driveways and 4 walkways; probably around 3500 sf. I dealt with Tony Puloka throughout my project and I was very pleased with all of my dealings with him. He came to my home on 6/4 to look over the project in order to provide an estimate. The foot of my driveway was cracked due to large fir tree roots and I pointed this out to him. I suggested that I might have to remove the two fir trees adjacent to the driveway. He recommended that I consult an arborist to see if I needed to remove both trees. He also commented on the fact that I had quite a bit of driveway that had become overgrown with ivy and they would be able to give me more driveway than I had been using. He sent an itemized estimate on 6/7 and I noticed that I had not notified him of my eligibility for a discount for Angie's list association. I had received one other premise visit and estimate from a contractor whose estimate was very close (before the Angie's discount was applied) to Tony's and I preferred to go with 3 Guys based on my interactions with Tony. I replied to Tony that I had neglected to advise him of the Angie's list discount and I would accept his offer to do the work if he would honor the discount. He agreed and I advised him that I would notify them when I had dealt with the tree issue. Once I notified him that the tree was removed, he and his crew came out a couple of day later. I had not been able to cut the ivy all the way back from the driveway and he advised that they could cut it for me, which they did, giving an extra 18" of driveway.. Tony became aware of a gutter drain pipe drainage problem at the corner of the house and driveway and offered to fix that by running a drainage pipe under the ground adjacent to the driveway (under the ivy). He estimated an additional $250 for this work and I was happy to accept because it would need to be dealt with at any rate and I felt the cost was okay and saved me additional work trying to find someone to take care of that for me. They got the old concrete out and everything framed and prepped the first day and came out two days later to get the concrete poured and brushed. I was thrilled with the additional driveway width they uncovered and everything looked great. They advised that someone would be out in a few days to remove the wood framing. The next day, Friday, I noticed that there was a hair line crack on the walkway at the corner of the garage. I e-mailed Tony and he came out the next day to have a look. He said that this was quite a common thing with 'corner' cuts and we agreed upon a method to correct the problem which would give me another seam and look okay aesthetically while being a stronger solution for the weak corner point. The crew came out the following Monday and fixed the walkway, removed the framing and generally cleanned up the site.I am absolutely satisfied with the result and thankful that Tony handled the ivy problem, drainage problem and the unanticipated crack courteously, professionally and efficiently. I'm not sure another outfit would have dealt with the ivy and I was relieved that I didn't have to deal with it as I am a single senior and it would have taken me a couple of days to do.
Description of Work: My primary contact for the project was Tony Puloka. They replaced my concrete driveway and two attached walkways which required demo of existing drive and walkways. I was especially pleased with the way in which Tony handled a couple of unexpected issues that arose with the project. I had total confidence in Tony and that made life much easier for me. I had no doubt that all their work would meet with my satisfaction. I would definately use them again for any type of construction work that they handle.

Description of Work: They did an awesome job, couldn't be happier, my neighbor wishes he would have used 3 guys instead of the group he used.

The men started work on the patio on Monday, got all old concrete broken up and carted off. I had asked them to be careful of plants that surrounded the area and I am pleased with their attention to my request. When it was necessary to step on a plant to insure a good concrete fit they told me and apologized---much to their credit! The concrete was poured on Tuesday. The parking extension on the driveway went very well also and after all that rain! I am very happy with both jobs and will hire this company again in the future. I appreciated the great attitude of the workers and the responsiveness of Tony the owner.
Description of Work: Broke up and removed old patio in backyard, placed forms, poured concrete with rebar, completed patio work and then graded driveway extension, placed gravel and then put asphalt on entire area.
