Disappointing experience with Holly from SSF. Original quote was $5400, ended up over $9000, which includes multiple corrections needed due to blatant errors and oversights made by the engineer. When alerting us of the original overage, Holly informed us that it was due to our roofing system being "more complex" than expected. Even with that admission, she didn't bother to confirm rafter sizes on the existing structure that needed to be tied into. This and a few other blatant errors cost us more fees (to them and the City for corrections) as well as valuable time on the project. The explanation is that having to go back and ask her for multiple corrections after plans were approved is "the most economical approach". We respectfully disagree and would recommend finding another engineer who values attention to detail and the customer experience more than additional billable hours.

I would suggest hiring al queda before SSF. We needed a simple Tier 1 and Tier 2 seismic evaluation done on our building. I was told plans ready to submit for permits would be 2-3 weeks tops. 10 weeks later......I get plans that don't reflect the actual building we are working on. Different construction completely. SSF employees Ryan Reichman and Beth Morales did 2 site visits, took pictures, took measurements, then took 10 weeks to produce plans that can't be built. My experience has been baffling, stressfull, and extremely dissapointing. I'm considering taking legal actions for the damages that delaying my project, now 11 weeks behind, now has occured. Time is money. SSF, never again.

I worked with an engineer named Greg. He was very polite and knowledgeable. I provided him with a drawn plan of our foundation and we had a quick phone call to answer some questions. I had the plans a few days later. Everything was smooth and seamless.
Description of Work: I hired this firm to engineer 2 foundation wall on our home that did not meet City of Seattle Project Impact earthquake retrofit pre-engineered plans.
