I was looking for a gas insert to heat the first floor of my home to replace the existing wood burning fireplace. I researched this work on Angie's List as well as on the vendor's website and decided to check out Sutter Home and Hearth in Ballard. I expected to purchase a different brand but the salesman, Bennett, recommended Valor based on my requirements. Valor was also having a sale at that time. The store has a great display which allowed me to select the model I liked. I did not shop around to other stores as the price quote was in line with what I had seen on Angie's List. The "sale" doesn't amount to that much as it only covers the main box and an installation bonus, $262 total. The estimator, Tom, came out to do the measurements and then the installers about 1 month later (their schedule). Everyone was very polite, professional, and knowledgeable. They told me my installation was very smooth and it took 6 hours! The fireplace looks and works great. I highly recommend Sutter!

Two people showed up at the appointed time, were courteous, introduced themselves and began the work immediately. After getting done they took down information so they could give us an estimate to install an insert in our upstairs fireplace.

This unit is amazing. It heats the whole lower level of our home. This company was responsible and they worked well. They did a lot of labor for us. They were respectable and nice to work with. The insert itself was $1900. We also got a blowing kit and the installation for that was $1000. There are a lot of various parts too. There are a ton of parts included in this kind of a job too. Its fairly complicated. You have clamp hangers and wraps and all kinds of stuff. Given everything you need to put it all together with the insert and the installation, you are still looking at a fair price if you use this company. I didn't regret my bill at all. It was a high effort job that takes expertise.

These people were very good and I was impressed with the work. They were professional and very hard working. They were no questions about any of the work with them. They just did it and finished quickly. I would definitely recommend them and I would use them again, because they were great.

They were very helpful - from the sales person at the shop, to the installation inspector and the installers. My experience with them was very positive and I highly recommend Sutter Home and Hearth. They were professional and helpful and answered all my questions and concerns. The installation inspector noticed that I had cats and when the installers came it was clear that info had been conveyed to them. I appreciated the concern/respect they showed for my cats by making sure the door was securely closed - a small thing in a way, but it conveyed a level of professionalism and courtesy that added to the positive experience.

The product sold me. They sell a lot of cast iron products, which are longer lasting, and they know what they are talking about so they can give you good advice and reasonable pricing.

Had a great experience with Bob Hollingsworth in looking at the Twin Eagle barbecue, purchased and set up delivery and hook up to natural gas line, which their crew did very professionally.

The whole process went very smoothly. It is important to know that scheduling the installation takes time as well working with other contractors to clean and prepare for the installation. I was not sure as to the insert I wanted. I explained my house had the need for the insert to Van. He quickly helped me pick out three or four different inserts. After an evening of decision making we chose one insert and the process began. A great guy came in inspected the house and the fireplace for an estimate. Then we got the estimate, put down a deposit, and set up time for work. They gave me great names for an electrician and chimney sweep. We scheduled the installation. They came promptly when they said they would. The installers were great, cleaned up the area in which they worked. The insert is wonderful and heats my whole house!

They were very helpful in the showroom, showing me all my options. Then I was scheduled for an estimate and given an install date. Excellent communication and they were very flexible with changing my install date because of my paint job taking longer than expected.

Michael assisted me with the different options for fireplace inserts. He was knowledgeable and I appreciate him pointing out that I didn't need the biggest/most powerful insert for my 500 square foot space, because the room could get too hot or the flame setting might have to be set low to get the right temperature (something to consider if I want to see the flames for ambiance). Bottom line is that more BTUs isn't necessarily better! I went into the store thinking that I wanted the most powerful output, so I'm glad Michael pointed me in the right direction.

GRACIOUS, COMPETENT SERVICE PROVIDED IN TIMELY WAY. REASONABLE PRICED AND VERY PROFESSIONALLY HANDLED. SINCE THE INSTALLATION, THEY HAVE ANSWERED QUESTIONS BY PHONE WHEN I HAVE HAD THEM. AGAIN VERY RESPONSIVE.

SUTTER HOME AND HEARTH HAS A SHOWROOM IN BALLARD WITH A WIDE SELECTION OF INSERTS, FIREPLACE DOORS AND GAS LOGS. I WAS ABLE TO LOOK AT WHAT THE FINISHED PRODUCT WOULD BE IN MY HOME. THEY CAME TO MY HOUSE, TOOK MEASUREMENTS AND MADE A TEMPLATE FROM WHICH TO CUSTOM BUILD THE FIREPLACE DOORS. THEY ALSO INSTALLED A GAS LOG AND AN IGNITION SWITCH. THEIR WORK WAS EXCELLENT AND THE FIREPLACE BOTH LOOKS AND PERFORMS BEAUTIFULLY.

OVERALL THE EXPERIENCE WAS PRETTY GOOD. THE SHOWROOM SALES PERSON KNEW THE PRODUCTS VERY WELL. THE PERSON WHO CAME OUT TO LOOK AT THE SPACE WAS HELPFUL IN PICKING OUT WHICH MODEL WOULD FIT BEST. PRICING WAS REASONABLE AND THE FINISHED PRODUCT WORKS WELL. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAD WAS GETTING THEM TO WORK WITH MY ELECTRICIAN SO THERE WERE A MINIMUM OF DAYS TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT. BASICALLY, THE MAN MY ELECTRICIAN DEALT WITH WAS OBSTRUCTIONIST, NOT ONLY WOULD HE NOT HELP THE ELECTRICIAN, HE ACTUALLY MADE IT HARDER FOR HIM TO DO HIS JOB. PLUS, IT DID TAKE ABOUT 3 MONTHS FOR THE WHOLE PROJECT.

THIS WAS A CUSTOM FIRE PLACE AND IT WAS CONSIDERED A CHALLENGE FROM START TO FINISH BY THE CARE OF THE SALESPERSON/INSTALLER, WHO WAS EQUAL TO THE TASK. HE MADE DRAWINGS, FIGURED SIZES, COLORS, AND ANYTHING ELSE WE NEEDED. IT WAS WONDERFUL THAT A COMPANY WOULD DO SO MUCH FOR A CUSTOMER, AND I AM SURE THAT EACH CUSTOMER IS TREATED IN THIS FASHION. IT WAS BEYOND COURTESY, IT WAS JOY IN DOING THEIR WORK WELL.

WE HAVE LOOKED OTHER PLACES AT LOGS AND WE FELT THAT THEY HAD THE BEST PRICES AND QUALITY THAT WE HAD SEEN. THE SALESPERSON WAS HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE. THE LOGS LOOKED GREAT IN OUR LIVING ROOM.
