We found Paul Doherty through a friend's recommendation. He came to our home on 10/25 to provide an estimate. He was late getting there due to traffic, for which he apologized. We emailed him some follow-up questions after the visit. Paul never answered those, but he did provide an estimate on Nov 4. We immediately let him know that we would like to proceed with the work and would let him know when the lights arrived from Schoolhouse Electric. The lights finally showed up on Nov 24, and I immediately emailed Paul asking to schedule the work. He did not respond, so I followed up again on Dec 7. He wrote back the same day to say he would try to get the work done before Christmas and would let me know by the end of the week. Yesterday, not having heard from Paul since Dec 7, I followed up with him. He wrote back to say that he would not be able to get the work done before the end of the new year. At this point I began to question whether Paul was interested in doing the work at all. I wrote to ask him if this was the case. His response indicated that if I wanted to move forward with someone else that would be the best thing to do. That wasn't what I had proposed, but ultimately it did answer my question, since it indicated that Paul was not interested in doing the work. I wish Paul had told me that he didn't want to do the work so that I could have identified another contractor earlier. If he had done so, I could have gotten this work finished before holiday entertaining.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate to install new lighting and outlets

For some appliances because of the cord design and/or the power of the appliances we have been using 3 prong adapters. Our electronic equipment is connected to a grounded source. Although we were not aware of any problems, we thought it might be well to have our situation checked to see if electrical work/updating should be advised. Paul came to take a look at the situation. He looked at all the areas that concerned us. He impressed us as being very knowledgeable to his trade and answered all our questions and did not rush. He assured us we had no reason to be worried, and we were not in need of additional electrical work at this time. As for the breaker box, since it had not been problematic, he did not advise to change it. If needed at sometime a breaker in the box could be replaced. He said it was not his way to push for work that was unnecessary. He gave us piece of mind and saved us a big bill, for which we are very appreciative. He did not charge us for the evaluation. We would definitely call him in the future for an electrical work we may have and refer him to others as well.
Description of Work: We asked him to evaluate our electrical system and we have an older home with ungrounded 2 prong outlets and the original breaker box which has about 12 breakers.

Description of Work: Paul Doherty was chosen by me after interviewing a number of electricians for the specific work I needed performed. His cost was on the low end and his service, fully authentic. The job was completed on time, and Paul even made a follow up visit on short notice to complete a couple of things I needed done - these were supplements I needed, not remedies to prior work performed. I was not charged for the secondary work, although it would of been completely appropriate for that unrelated work to be invoiced. Paul is a strait shooter and tells it how it is. He offered recommendations to save me money - recommendations which were not offered by his competitors. At this point I have identified an electrician for life, unless Shamrock Electric leaves the area. Our electrical work had to be done in phases, as it was dependent on working in conjunction with other tradesmen. Paul was flexible with his dates and seemed to work very well with the other contractors. In fact, our Kitchen remodelers asked for his number because they were so impressed with his work; they'd like to work with him on future jobs. He was very knowledgeable, a good problem-solver and quick. He took care of the permits, scheduling the inspection and coordinating with the city to get our house connected to the main line. In re: the fans in our bathroom, he had a wide familiarity with lots of products and could easily recommend ones for our needs.
Description of Work: New electrical panel with more capacity. New connection to street. New wiring in house. Relocation of light switches and outlets. New service brought to garage. New fans in the bathrooms.

Description of Work: Had a few estimates done and he seemed the most informed and a very reasonable estimate. (thousand dollars less than the highest and only a hundred over the lowest). Would have hired him but ended talking a friend into helping me do it myself.

They have done work in two of our homes. If you have something that you want done correctly, he is a good choice. He gets in and he gets out. He doesn t mess around, he just gets the job done. He doesn t do more work than you need done either.
Description of Work: He rewired the entire 2,100 square foot home because the wiring was very old, and he put in around a dozen new outlets.
