This is the second time I have used Tree Cycle ,and I have recommended them to many friends. Peter is a smart worker. He never puts his guys in harms way, and is thorough. He is always free with advice and a smile. He is a knowledgeable arborist and his work and that of his employees is amazing. We have been very happy with his work, and we will never go to another arborist.
Description of Work: Peter came and gave me a quote on a Thursday, and returned the next day to the work. They removed two trees (dying trees, so sad), an invasive False Bamboo plant that someone rooted in-ground, and pruned a plum tree.

I think they are one of the best companies that we dealt with. There were no problems with them. We actually had used them a couple of years ago for some other work. We were so pleased with them that we just had them come out again this year. We know that they are reliable.

Kelsey, the office manager, set up the appointment. She's polite and capable. The yard crew showed up on the scheduled day, just about on time; this was quite good since we weren't the first appointment of the day. The crew worked really very efficiently and well together. Each person knew what he needed to do. Peter loves trees and salvaged a small tree and a couple of bushes, instead of just cutting them up. Our large European beech was growing into the electrical lines and the City had cut down some branches, but they hadn't done a good job; TreeCycle pruned the tree and restored balance in the tree. They also trimmed our Japanese maple, removed a chain around it and advised us how to take care of it. We had been thinking of removing sod and soil as part of our landscaping project, but Peter advised us to mulch our yard instead. This will save us money and time, and provide a better environment for our remaining trees. I appreciate the personal service, and I really like working with Peter. This is the second time we've used TreeCycle. They're great.
Description of Work: Tree Cycle removed two lines of hedges, bushes, several small trees and ivy. It also pruned a very large European beech and a Japanese maple. Peter, the owner, was one of the crew of five. They also gave us some advice about mulching part of our yard.

Both Kelsey and Peter were a pleasure to work with in getting the job set up and completed. Kelsey was understanding about our co-op's process of decision making (which required a bit of back and forth). Peter and his crew were all professional and where the job required it, creative. They installed a raw timber support piece--thick bark included!--which is an attractive addition to our garden as well as providing excellent bracing. This work was completed in early January 2011, and with it now being late May I can report that the tree is thriving and leafing out all over the place. Good work Kelsey, Peter and crew! Oh . . . and they brought the job in under budget.

I have used this company twice in the last several years for tree pruning. First, the arborist stops by to see the trees and leave an estimate. Next, the appointment is scheduled. They see pretty busy, and it took a couple of weeks to get our schedules aligned. The arborist did exactly what was discussed, followed the estimate and cleaned up as expected. I think the company is a good one, and I would definitely use their services again.

They showed up to produce a written estimate when promised. Crew showed up to do the work when scheduled. They did an excellent professional job with the pruning--better than expected. They were good communicators as needed during the job. They allowed us to keep the chip even though it meant them dumping only a small load. Would use again.
Description of Work: Peter and crew pruned our big old Horse Chestnut tree. It is a special-needs tree due to being mal-pruned by another company 15 years ago. Tree Cycle also did some minor pruning of a smaller tree overhanging our roof and removed a small 10 year old cherry.

They came when they were scheduled to come, and we discussed what needed to be done. Before they started, I asked them to be careful around a couple of raised beds that I have under the trees. They were very respectful of this. They went to work on the fir trees and did a great job. The crew worked together very well. They were fast, efficient, and careful around my flower beds as they brought down huge branches. They cleaned-up all that they brought down and ran it into a chipper. They hauled away all the trimmings. They were very generous with the extra trimming that they did. They were very pleasant people to talk to as well as extremely knowledgeable. I appreciate that they were willing to answer any questions that I had about the trees in my yard. They seemed to be very interested in trimming in a way that enhances the health of the tree, which I highly value. I would definitely hire them back.
Description of Work: I have two very large douglas fir trees on my property. One is approximately a 100 foot, double trunk fir, which was right next to my house, and the other tree, farther from the house, was around 75 ft. They were hit hard by the winter winds and needed to have all the dead branches trimmed out and some of the weight taken off. I also needed to have an assessment as to the health of the trees. They had originally bid to take care of the fir trees, clean-up and haul away debris for $950. When they arrived they also offered to lightly trim up some other trees in the yard for an additional amount, $50.00 above the original bid, and I agreed.

It took a couple of tries to connect with someone in the office and to schedule the initial estimate, but once we agreed on a day and time, Peter showed up right on schedule. His bid was similar to the other two I got for this work in terms of cost, but I chose him based on his commitment to sustainability and creative approach to the challenges our job presented. The decision to remove a very large tree had been difficult, and I wanted to ensure maximum utilization of the wood. He said the trunk of the maple would be milled into slabs (we could keep one for ourselves) and that we could commission a bowl or other turned pieces from local artisans out of the other larger pieces. I liked that this is part of his overall business model, and not an extra "service" that I had to request and possibly pay more for. I also appreciated the fact that he is a certified arborist, and even though we hired him for tree removal, I felt comfortable asking him to prune a couple of other trees, which he did cheerfully, and didn't charge me anything extra even though I had fully expected he would. He also offered to remove a small stump near our foundation, which had to be hand dug due to a buried gas line beneath it. This was also done at no extra cost. Peter and his crew arrived on time this morning and got to work immediately removing four trees and then grinding out the stumps. There were some challenges in accessing the property -- a section of fence had to be removed temporarily and then reinstalled, a neighbor's boat was parked near the largest tree and couldn't be moved, so Peter had to be careful to direct the branches away from it as they fell or were lowered down, and another tree required that the stump grinder be maneuvered around some obstacles and then across a ramp to span some stairs that would otherwise have prevented access. All of this was accomplished efficiently and safely, and with a minimum of disruption to our property and the neighbors'. Another company had told me that the only way to grind this particular stump would be to lift the stump grinder into place using a crane. Tree Cycle's approach was much more practical and creative. The work was completed much more quickly than I expected, and then the crew cleaned up all the mess and left everything as they found it, minus the trees. Everything about the job was efficient and professional and I'm very happy with the outcome.
Description of Work: Tree Cycle removed four trees (including one maple that was over 50' tall) and ground out all the stumps to below grade. They also dug out a small stump and lightly pruned two small trees at no extra charge.

Very prompt. Owner did his own estimate and work and that greatly improved communication. Very efficient and thorough. Gave me a huge 4-5 foot pile of woodchips onto a tricky part of the yard near a walkway, but able to avoid blocking the path. Also gave me a pile of the cut maple limbs for other uses in the yard. I requested these last two items. This is the best Arborist that I have ever worked with!!

The came to the house around noon. Peter and three other people worked on removing all five trees. They were so fast and efficient! Peter limbed the trees and climbed them and cut them. He was so careful of our yard and all the other shrubs, bushes and small trees. The individuals that worked with him were picking up all the limbs and debris as they went and they put them into a grinder. For this cost, they hauled all the wood and debris away. After they cut all the trees, they ground all the stumps down. My yard looks like they were never here and the trees were never here. If we have a need to have trees removed I will definitely contact them. They worked hard, were efficient and cared for our yard as if it were their own. What a great company! I I forgot to mention that they actually donate the wood chips to parks in the area! So cool!!!
Description of Work: The company came out and gave us an estimate a few days prior to the work. They came out today and did the actual work. They removed five trees. They were in the midst of scheduling us and they contacted me last night to let me know they would likely have an opening this afternoon if it would work.

I emailed this company to do a stump grind of a tree I had removed myself. They had previously viewed the tree and given me an estimate for tree removal and an additional charge to perform a stump grind. They were to squeeze me in at some random point in the next two weeks; I told them I needed to be called before they came so I could be sure to be on-site. Kelsey, the company's coordinator, entered a note in my file for the workers to call before heading my way. Well, they came to my house without calling me beforehand, so I wasn't there. My siding contractor was, however, and apparently Treecycle Seattle thought it sufficient to tell my siding contractor that they could not do the job due to the fence, despite having seen the fence previously when they gave an estimate. They did not bother to call me at all to tell me this -- the siding contractor called immediately to tell me they were leaving and that the siding contractor had asked them to stay. I found Treecycle Seattle to be abysmally unprofessional and poor communicators. I would not hire this company again.

Response from Seattle Tree Care
Thank you for considering Treecycle for your tree removal and stump grinding project. When we asked you specifically if the access to your stump had changed since you tried to remove the tree yourself you said it was wide open and would be no problem to get to. This was not truthfull in the least. We arrived on time and when sheduled to grind out your stump. What we found was a half removed tree surrounded by tree debris, tree trunks and totally made inacessible from a house remodel project, i.e piles of lumber, siding, and scaffolds. To top it off someone had planted a 12 ft tall tree directly next to the stump that was to be ground out. Communication is a two way street. When you told us in written e-mail that we would have access to your stump you were not truthfull. Treecycle has more straight A reviews than any other Seattle tree service on Angie's List because we love taking care of trees and also taking care of our valued customers. To those valued cutomers, thank you for all the great projects we have worked on and we look forward to all the new tree projects ahead.

Everything done very well. Pleasant crew, cut and stacked some firewood. They then cleaned off our roof and our property--clearing and collecting way more debris than was caused by them. They did a decent job. They were very skilled tree toppers so they knew what they were doing. They were pretty large trees and they took them down pretty well. They were fast, efficient and on time. I asked that they set aside a significant part of the wood for firewood and cut it in certain sizes, which they did. They also cut a big flat out of one of the trees for me to make a table. They were to grind the stumps and one of them was not fully ground. They were pretty reasonably priced.
