+ -1 moreWe contacted TreeCycle and they came out a couple of days later to do the estimate. At that point, we only asked for a quote to remove the tree and do all the clean-up. Their bid, along with the two others we solicited, were way out of our price range. So we went back to Treecycle and asked them how much just to chop it down and less the mess. That ended up being something we could afford. The two men arrived on time to do the work, finished it in about an hour and caused no damage to the surrounding house, fences or plants. We were quite satisfied with the experience.
Description of Work: We were looking to get a fairly large horse-chestnut tree removed from some tight quarters in the corner of our back yard. Received a quote for removal of tree and clean up, then a quote for just chopping down the tree and leaving the mess for us to clean up in our own time.

+ -1 moreThis is the second time we have used Treecycle on our property and we have used them once on my mother's property. We cannot recommend them highly enough. Peter is very thorough and reasonable in his estimates and a very nice person to work with. His crew is prompt and are extremely careful in their clean-up. Peter will even do extra things if he sees they need doing and not charge. I asked him at the last minute if he could cut more trunks for me and he did so at a very reasonable cost. Over the years I have used several different companies for tree removal. Treecycle is the only one I would recommend.
Description of Work: This was the second time we have had Treecycle come to our property to remove trees. The first time they removed a maple consisting of 6 or 7 trunks in the front of the house which were also quite close to the cable and telephone lines coming into the house. The second time they removed a dead Alder tree which was hanging over a neighbor's yard and which had to be reached from an adjacent tree, and 2 Maples consisting of 6 trunks.

+ -1 moreThe service was very good. The owner was really personable and nice. They were easy to work with. They were a little hard to get a hold of because they are busy. I did find their crew sitting around. They also oversold me on some work and said they could carve the extra wood into furniture. They also killed one of my ferns. The quote was really competitive and I was pleased with the service. Overall, I would recommend their services and I have recommended them to others.

+ -1 morePeter and his crew came out promptly and got started right away. They were very careful to not drop limbs into the neighbor's yard (a couple trees were on the fence line) and what little debris inadvertently fell over there, they hopped the fence and cleaned it up. They were friendly, efficient and when they left, the yard was cleaner than when they started. The trees now look great and it was a top-bottom good experience. Of the estimates I originally got for this job, Tree Cycle was not the lowest, but Peter impressed me with his knowledge and care for trees and I felt he would be the most attentive. I'm very satisfied with my decision to hire him and his company. While they were here, I also talked w/ Peter about an issue on another tree and he took plenty of time explaining the issue and various treatment options. He was very responsive and emailed the bid on that by the end of the day.
Description of Work: Needed general health pruning and cleanup of 3 tall Lombardy Poplars.

+ -1 moreWe had two very tall cottonwoods that were threatening to fall on our house, and/or drop large branches on our heads. I called around and Treecycle sent out someone to give a quote the day after I spoke with them. They were the best quote and ended up taking down the trees, removing all of the debris, and cleaning up the yard for less than other companies quoted to just take the trees down (and leave me with pretty much unusable cottonwood logs...). They were fast, punctual, and professional. I hope I never have to take another tree down in my yard, but if I do, I'll be using Treecycle.
Description of Work: Treecycle cut down and removed two approximately 80-foot tall cottonwood trees from my property. They took the trees down, cut them up, removed all debris, and cleaned up the yard (nicer than before they arrived).

They did great work, were done quickly (an hour), and cleaned up all of the debris. Great communication, we're already planning on having them back! A+++++
Description of Work: We had Treecycle remove a magnolia tree (mature, ~ 40ft) growing between our house and a neighbors. We didn't have the stump ground, but had the tree removed, chopped up, and hauled away. Because we requested several trunk pieces for woodworking, they left them.

The women in the office was very friendly. I didn't have to pay them until after I was satisfied with them. They came when they were scheduled.

+ -1 moreThey were a wonderful company to work with both times. They’re very experienced and Peter, the owner, is an arborist. He evaluates what should happen for the health of the trees. It was also really nice that they knew how to complete the city permitting. They honored their estimates, which were half the price of other company’s estimates that I had gotten. In both cases, they went beyond what we had expected!
Description of Work: They’ve done two jobs for us! They pruned some trees. They had to go through the city process of getting a permit and meeting the city’s expectations, but they were very knowledgeable with that and completed it quickly. They fixed the trees so that no more limbs would fall out from the trees, but the tthey still look nice and continue to be healthy.

He didn’t just give me a quote, but also gave me somes advice, his thoughts about my yard and explained things to me. They negotiated a price with me, which I appreciated. He arrived right on time, completed the job quickly, and was very helpful. He left my yard better than it was before he showed up. They were a fantastic company to deal with and I’ve actually recommended them to some of my friends.

+ -1 moreIt went great. They sent their arborist out first. Not every tree trimming company has an arborist, but they do. And he was very thorough about discussing the options I had with dealing with these trees. The other companies just asked what do you want to have done and this is what we will charge you. I'm not an arborist and I don't know what should be done. So, I thought that was a major advantage for Tree Cycle. Plus, their price was by far and away the most attractive. They were very professional. It's dangerous work so I wasn't out there talking to them. I talked to the guy who was running the job, but there were limbs crashing all over the place so I didn't get in their way.

My sister had used them previously and sang their praises, which is why I included them in the bidding process. I cannot recommend a company higher.

Description of Work: The Tree Cycle crew removed and hauled away all wood and debris from a clump of three birch trees near our house. One tree was leaning towards our house and would have caused much damage if it had fallen. Tree Cycle arrived early in the day, talked with me about exactly what work was to be done. I told Peter, the owner, that he needed to prevent damage to the limbs of two maples that were beneath the birch trees. He was able to expertly cut all of the limbs and trunks without knocking off a single leaf of the maple trees! And, he had removed the limbs, debris and had even used a grinder to grind out the birch stumps about 12" below grade in short order. I believe he only spent about two to three hours total cutting down the trees, removing all of the debris and grinding out the stump. I would certainly recommend Tree Cycle to anyone needing professional tree services. (Below is what actually happened but you might not be able to use it because it is from a neighbor's point of view) A neighbor was so impressed that he, on the spot, asked Peter to bid on removing a couple of dead trees on his property. Peter gave a bid which was accepted and my neighbor had his two trees removed and all debris removed immediately after work was done at our house. My neighbor was also very pleased with the workmanship and professionalism of this crew.

+ -1 moreAccess to our backyard is very limited, no alley, no garage, and we live on a hillside (36 steps to my front door from the street), etc. We built a sizable chicken coop before we new the tree was so sick so access to the tree and keeping the surrounding structures (house and coop) safe was a barrier that added to the cost. The 5 employees were great! Polite, thoughtful, helpful. They work very hard. They split the whole tree into firewood, and they stump grounded the tree as well as two other trees for us. We kept all the shavings for the chicken coop and they bagged the shavings for us and moved them. They did a fantastic job cleaning up too. Our neighbor decided to hire them as well. Her cost was $900 a tree but she has easy access to her backyard without any structural barriers and the trees were smaller.
Description of Work: took down a very tall Hemlock tree, stump ground the tree, chopped into firewood, cleaned up. 5 guys working hard and non-stop

They ground the stump up and while they were taking care of that stump, they found a smaller one that they ground up for me as well. I'm happy witht heir services.

Description of Work: Two 80+ year old Western Cedar hazard trees taken down to a safe snag height. Both Cedars had been topped likely in late 60's. They were rotten at the notch where multiple tops had grown up over the years. Also had them grind down a large Doug Fir stump.

+ -1 moreThey did an excellent job. It was a big job, a lot of work, and they managed to finish it in one day. Before deciding to take these trees down, we discussed various options, and we eventually decided that taking them down would be the best solution to our problem (lack of light and large tree too close to the house). Not only did they take the trees down, but they cut them into firewood size rounds for me to later split for firewood. They also cut out a large wood slab out of one tree that we have since used for a planter shelf on a garden shed. They also split a large portion of trunk in half for us to use as a garden bench. They did excellent work, were careful and highly skilled. Their pricing was very reasonable, as well. My only complaint is that they did not completely grind one of the trunks. I'm sure that if I had notified them of this, they would have come back to finish the job, but I have managed to work around that piece of trunk. I imagine that they missed that portion of trunk because it was buried under all the debris left after taking down that large tree. Anyway, they did a good job at a fair price, and I would hire them in the future if needed.
