After contacting Seattle Superior Waterproofing, I received a prompt return call and an appointment was made to view the work to be done. He was on time , looked at the job to be done and after studying the situation, gave me written bid. I accepted the bid and the work was done efficiently, as stated above. I have already recommended someone to call Seattle Superior Waterproofing for a waterproofing job.
Description of Work: Services to be provided Nov.28th, will write a review after that/ M. James Services were provided, as promised on the date agreed upon. The provider was on time, ready and concluded the job as agreed to. His demeanor was friendly, business like and he proved to be competant. He went the "extra mile"; cleaning up thoroughly. checking his work to be sure it worked properly and cleaned out the existing sump pump and outside drain. I was given a life- time warranty, in addition. I would encourage anyone with waterproofing problems to contact Seattle Superior Waterproofing. They are indeed "superior".

Galen made two visits, one to inspect and one the next day too do the work. Good communication, a job well done, and he even found a minor plumbing leak that would have taken years too notice otherwise. I would definitely hire again.

Galen did an excellent job with the initial inspection, checking the foundation, running water through exterior drainage, etc. He provided me with a number of options, explaining the pros and cons of each. It was all very informative, and there was absolutely no pressure. After I had inspections performed by other services, I finally decided to go with Seattle Superior Waterproofing because they were straightforward, offered a good value, and provided superior expertise. The work was completed on time, meeting and in some cases exceeding expectations while staying within the original estimate. I was pleasantly surprised when Galen followed up on his work after a subsequent rain storm. It was an entirely positive experience, and if I'm unfortunate enough to require waterproofing or drainage services again, Seattle Superior Waterproofing will be the first call I make.
Description of Work: Approximately 25 feet of sub-slab interior perimeter drainage installed along walls of finished basement.

I live in a 1922 house, with an unfinished basement that is damp and has a musty odor. I wanted to bring in a professional to see if i had a mold problem, or other issue that was causing the smell. Overall, I was pleased with the completeness of the assessment (both internal/and exterior) as well as the quality and the amount of time spent. Galen was professional, punctional, and knowledgeable. He helped me understand the overall condition of my basement, and gave me some small and inexpensive tips i could do on my own to improve the air/dampness quality. He was honest, and did not try to sell me any additional, expensive work.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal to assess my basement for mold, odor, dampness, etc... to see if further work/investments would be required

Be sure to explain the water issues when you sign on for this kind of service. It wasn't clear to me exactly what conditions this co. addresses. I hesitate to give this co. a bad rating.....it was a miscommunication of my needs versus what the co. provides.
Description of Work: The company is probably very effective for serious water problems. However, I was under the impression that they would be knowledgeable about musty/moldy smells (which a phone conversation could have remedied. While here, he in 5 minutes suggested a de-humidifier. Not worth the price to have him tell me that in person. An analysis of the situation over the phone would have precluded a visit, and expense.

Not that great. Wouldn't hire this contractor again.
Description of Work: The contractor was supposed to do a crawlspace water inspection. However, after he arrived and I described some issues I found in the basement, his focus was on trying to sell me services to fix the basement. He wouldn't go into the crawlspace because he said he didn't need to. He then came back with an outrageously priced proposal to address some problems with a drain in the basement. Bottom line - this contractor couldn't tell me anything I didn't already know.

Galen was a good listener and appeared to be thorough when asking us questions to better understand our circumstances. He did not appear to be rushed. Again, while what he proposed has not been accomplished yet, we certainly intend to have the work done as soon as possible.
Description of Work: We played a considerable amount of phone tag before we were able to actually speak to Seattle Superior Waterproofing. It was December and he was very busy due to recent rains. Galen arrived at the appointed time and we showed him where we had previously had trouble with water flooding our basement via the crawl space. He also walked around our home to see any potential problems and how best to run water out of our crawl space and away from our house. Galen was knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. He submitted a bid and the work order was detailed to show what we could expect. We have not secured his services at the time of this writing, but certainly will contact Seattle Seattle Waterproofing as soon as possible as we had a positive experience and have confidence the work will be done correctly.

I ordered an Angie's List special for a crawlspace inspection. As the work was being done on a rental that I own, I was not actually present when the inspection occurred (my tenant was there however). After the inspection I received a very thorough verbal report on the condition of the crawlspace. The workman apparently had to negotiate some tight areas under my 85 year old house. I was pleased with the detail of the report and would hire him again.

This turned out to be an initial estimate on a bigger job, which wasn't what I thought it was (I thought it was an analysis of why my basement was leaking and a plan on what to do to fix it). Since I paid $50 for this, I appreciate that I was able to use it after it was expired. However, I'm still wondering what value I received out of paying the $50. I've had a number of folks come out to do estimates on my house for different pieces of work, and have completely remodeled the upstairs (electrical, insulation, drywall, painting, trim, etc). Never have I had to pay for an initial estimate/bid. I was told that I live on a hill and that my house is old and water flows downhill and sometimes the ground gets soaked and water seeps up through cracks in the basement of older houses. Really? I paid for that valueable information? That's not the issue I was asking about. I know where I live and what happens with the cracks in my floors. My basement seeps a little bit primarily in two places when it rains really hard or snows. I would have paid $50 to understand if it was really a down-spout issue or if that could have been ruled out completely. But that was just brushed off with the explaination that I needed a 5K drainage system around the whole perimeter of my basement. I thought I was going to get something that actually could help me with the leaks and the seepage in my basement (like an actual analysis and a plan), but instead I got a piece of graph paper with a map of my basement and some X's where they would jackhammer around the walls and put in a drainage system for 5K. What I need is a solution for the two places where water seeps in, not a whole basement drainage system. I know my house is on a hill, that it's older, that sometimes it rains a lot in Seattle and if your older home on a hill has cracks in the foundation you could get seepage. I know what my basement looks like - I don't need a graph paper map. Paying $50 to get a 5K estimate that someone else would give me for free is ridiculous. This was a suckers deal.
Description of Work: We looked around the perimeter of the house and the basement. I have a couple of places where my basement seeps water when it gets really wet or snows, so was trying to understand if this was a down-spout issue or if there was something else going on. We walked around the house, talked about where the leaks were, and then he drew a little map of my basement on some graph paper and told me how it would cost 5K to jack hammer up a border around the basement edges and put in a drainage system.

Spent $49 for consultation which may have been too much. Very basic inspection of gutter drain system, didn't want to crawl in crawl space b/c it was a little tight so didn't get a look down there. Marginally helpful I guess. I'm sure they would be fine for a more major job.

Will use this company in the future
Description of Work: This was an estimate from an Angie's list big deal. We didn't actually use the service - yet. The owner of the company came by to look at our basement and the water leaks/issues that result after heavy rain. He was very knowledgeable and professional. The solution is to install french drains which would require a lot of work breaking up the concrete floor etc. We never thought he was over-stating the project requirements and the estimated cost of $1200 was reasonable. We believe they will do a good job when we are able to afford to have the work done.

This was a dream experience. Schedule was fast and easy. The pre-work inspection was thorough and informative. Their work was as scheduled, well done and promptly completed. It was a pleasure to work with them on this project. This autumn Seattle has 'enjoyed' record rainfall including a record quantity in one day. There was NO water in the basement! We were very pleased with the work and are happy about the current status of the basement.
Description of Work: For over 25 years, when there is heavy rain, our basement leaks. Mr. Galen Maier of Seattle's Superior Waterproofing came to our house, had us describe the nature of the problem and then did a detailed walk through of the basement and along the entire foundation outside of the house. He provided a suggested a solution that much cheaper and more logical than others had proposed. He and his crew performed the following tasks: 1. Remove approximately 12 inches of the original basement floor against the west wall of the former basement garage. 2. Installed perforated pie, gravel, and filter fabric 3. Drain all water to an existing floor drain line 4. Install cleanouts as needed 5. Patch holes and tube cracks into system as needed 6. Remove and replace landing 7. Install catch basin as shown in diagram and connect to drainline. 8. Provide Lifetime Warranty when paid

It went well. I was hoping for some magic information that they could say "nope, you're definitely ok" or something like that, but they're just human. They walked around the house with me and talked about the drainage and how it worked, where it went. He tested the downspouts and the weeping tile system where he could get to it. I was happy to have the second opinion, though aside from expertise and experience there wasn't much he could do that I couldn't. Definitely worth the price of the Big Deal though!

We had water leaking into our crawlspace. I wanted more information on possible solutions. Seattle Waterproofing was kind enough to come out and discuss the issues. For some unknown reason, perhaps our location, we often times have difficulty with service providers showing up on time or showing up at all. This was a good experience from start to finish.
Description of Work: I purchased the estimate as we had been told by another provider to check for water issues in our crawl space. Superior promptly contacted me to set up a time and was flexible in scheduling. He arrived promptly and, luckily for us, found no issues. Even though we did not need his services at this time, I would hire this company when needed.

Very responsive given the furnace situation.
Description of Work: Crawl space had flooded due to the major rain storm on 11/19/12 and the sump pump appear to have failed (It was over 20 years old). The concern was that the furnace is in the back of the crawl space and, obviously, you don't want water anywhere near the furnace. Galen came out, assessed the situation (informing that the pump had not died but the float appeared to have gotten caught) and the water had cleared. Upon my request, he installed a new sump pump.

We had water showing up in our finished basement. Were able to figure this out because carpet next to wall and under built in desk unit was wet and getting moldy. The owner of the company came out and looked at our water leak and within 5 minutes identified a foundation crack. Initially I did not believe that was the source of the water because it was not directly next to where the water was showing up in the house, so he indulged me and we cut out the drywall so we could see and then we ran water outside the house - sure enough water came through the crack, along the concrete and would have exited from under the wall framing where we found the water in the carpet. The actual repair took about 4-5 hours and we have a dry basement!
Description of Work: Identified crack in foundation, confirmed it as source of water in basement, repaired the foundation which included removing plants and soil to access the entire length of the crack, and put all back in place afterwards.
