Awarded moving contract to Mountain Movers over two "name brand" competitors whose bids were significantly higher, but with only a few reviews. Kenyada came to house and did a thorough inventory and gave a quote on the spot. We were moving a 3-br house from Kirkland to Port Orchard. The crew chief called and said they were caught in heavy traffic, and wound up arriving about an hour late, but they did not charge for any extra travel time. They got right to work and never even took a break from what I could tell. I bought them all a fast food breakfast, and they just ate it "on the fly" as they loaded. When the truck was half full, the crew chief recommended a second truck. I disagreed with him, but he asked if he could have one on standby w/o charge just in case, which I agreed to. As I looked over all that was still unloaded, I realized we had purchased a few large items of furniture since our last move, and that second truck may be required after all, so we called it in, and turns out it was more than necessary. MM did not charge for the extra truck, and only charged for the additional crew person from the time he arrived on scene, which is why our total charge went up a little. We decided to have the truck go the "long" way around the Narrows bridge, as the ferries can be unpredictable. This was a wise decision, as I had to wait 90 mins. to get on a ferry that day, and the truck beat us to the house by an hour! Fortunately, my wife left early and was at the house in time to meet them. The now crew of four unloaded quickly, safely, and efficiently, and not a single item was even scratched, let alone broken. The workers were all young, strong and healthy 20-somethings, and Kenyada has trained them well. None of them had that "ex-con" look about them one tends to find with many moving companies. They were simply great. All were extremely professional, polite, and clearly skilled in what they were doing. I tipped them all 20 bucks each -- not much, I admit -- and all were quite appreciative. Even the "extra" worker was honest, saying he didn't deserve as much because he worked only half the job, but I would not hear of it. The crew chief, Mark, smiled when I admitted to him that he was "right" about needing the extra truck. He clearly takes pride in his job, and he WAS right. After they left, both my wife and I agreed that Mountain Movers was well worth the price, even with the small extra charge for a second truck and extra worker. Clearly, there's a reason MM has so many positive reviews on this list. We recommend them very highly, and would award them no-bid contracts for any of our future moves.
Description of Work: Moved our belongings from 3 bdrm home in Kirkland to 2-story, 2,300 s.f. house in Port Orchard, WA. Provided free written estimate beforehand.

Our overall experience with Mountain Movers was great! Kenyada responded very quickly to my husband's email and gave us an estimate, which pretty much was spot on. They suggested we use 2 guys and a huge truck, so we did. Martin and Dan were our movers. They showed up on time and ready to work! When I first saw them, I thought they looked rather young and quite frankly not strong enough to lift heavy boxes, but they proved me wrong! They were VERY capable of lifting all those heavy boxes and moving several of them at once. They did a fantastic job. They were courteous and polite. They loaded those boxes up so quickly. They set up the rooms like we had asked. They even helped out the delivery guys who showed up to deliver our new sofa (instead of just waiting for them to finish delivering it, since the deliverers were in their way). They had so many tight spaces to move stuff to I was amazed they got it to fit, without breaking anything or ruining our newly painted walls. They even managed to take an overstuffed loveseat up some tiny stairs to the attic and warned us that it may take some paint off the wall and wall post. Which we really didn't mind, since it hadn't been painted yet. But we were so grateful that they let us know. Like I said, it was an overall great experience. They didn't break anything (as far as we know..haven't finished unpacking yet), and they didn't spend most of their time, talking or taking breaks and taking up time that we're paying for. We'd definitely use Mountain Movers again!
Description of Work: We moved from a 700 sq ft. house (with a 200 sq.ft. basement) to a house that's 1930 sq.ft. We hired 2 guys with a huge truck. They moved some furniture and LOTS of boxes (some of them were really heavy, loaded with books and magazines), which we packed ourselves.

Overall my experience with Mountain Movers was okay. My initial impression was good. Kenyada Winston was pleasant and courteous. He promptly delivered packing materials we bought. We hired for some packing on the first household, and complete packing on the second. (Packing is done as a separate business entity run by Mr. Winston, and must be paid by check or cash, separately from the moving.) We may have gotten inexperienced packers, and some of the choices they made in packing were bad and resulted in some breakage. Insurance is on you pretty much; they have the required 60 cents a pound or whatever is required by the licensing agency. Needless to say the broken things were light and not worth filing a claim on. The insurance will not be too different for any company, I think. There's a surcharge if you are not in Seattle proper. Not unreasonable, just a note. They did rock steady on the actual moving, and the employees were pleasant to deal with. I was disappointed to find that a small handmade desk of mine was broken, and that no one told me it was broken. It was not fragile, so must have been mishandled in some way to be broken. Not being told of the problem is my main gripe. I damaged it further because I was not told it was now fragile. I believe this is because the workers are fined for breakage, so they have a disincentive to tell clients that something got broken. When your move is done you sign to say every thing arrived okay; that's standard. There is no way I can think of that you will KNOW nothing's broken when you sign the paper.
Description of Work: Packed and moved 2 housesholds.

As above, things went very well. The truck was on time, the two movers were knowledgable, careful and hard working and things flowed well all morning. They had to use one small elevator and share it with elderly residents of the retirement facility and they were very considerate and respectful. They were very flexible in dealing with some logistics issues when unloading part of the load at our storage unit and then took the rest to be donated. We were very pleased with how well the whole experience went.
Description of Work: My father passed away last month we moved his belongings from his apartment to both a storage unit and then donated the rest to Sharehouse. It was an emotionally trying day and the movers were such a delight to work with. They were punctual, respectful and polite even in the face of having to share the one elevator in the retirement home with many residents, careful, hard working and inspired confidence. This is our second moving experience with this company and our other experience (a previous move for my father) was an equally excellent experience. Services were loading/unloading furniture and boxes.

We had a good experience with them. Based on our apartment size and so forth, they initially estimated how much stuff we have. However, they figured out that some of their people were occupied with other work. Then, they brought in more people and did the whole thing. The apartment had a very long walk from the entrance to our unit. They were quick about their work, which is a good thing. There wasn?t anything broken, and everything was moved fine. They were very professional. In comparison to a quote from another service provider, their price was pretty good.
Description of Work: They came in, did some packing, and helped us move a couple of miles.

They arrived promptly and were experienced and professional. The two men quickly assessed the items to be loaded and worked efficiently and carefully. The truck was in perfect condition and they had all items needed to be sure the furniture was not damaged. The truck was big enough to do the move in one trip. When unloading they put some items on the second floor and some on the first floor. They handled stairs and small doorways never nicking a wall or door jam.
Description of Work: Pick up approx a two car garage full of furniture and deliver it to our house. Pick up and drop off sites were on the Eastside about a half hour drive apart.

From my first contact via email to paying the bill when the job was done -- my moving team from Mountain Movers was FANTASTIC!!! They were fun, efficient, fast, very professional and hardworking!! It was a sunny, holiday weekend and they treated it like any other day. They handled all of my belongings with great care and even helped me load up my car. These guys have seen and done it all -- so if you think you have a tough move, give them a call! They will make you feel like it can be done -- and it will be done right!!
Description of Work: Move many boxes, furniture and belongings to a nearby storage facility. My apt. was a 1BR/500 sq feet space; and I was located on the 2nd floor. There was no elevator so the team had to climb three flights of stairs and navigate through narrow hallways.

Three men showed up, were friendly and worked quickly. They had lots of useful equipment on the truck (furniture dollies, hand trucks, moving blankets) and secured my things well. Nothing was damaged in my cross town move. They were communicative and checked with me numerous time whenever they had questions. The movers called prior to their scheduled arrival time to let me know that they were running about 15 minutes late. Kenyada was very easy to reach on the phone prior to the move and e-mailed me the contract and some other helpful information that made the move go much smoother. I have to move again soon and will use Mountain Movers.
Description of Work: Mountain Movers loaded my household goods (including some large outdoor pots containing trees) into their truck, unloaded some of my things into a storage unit, then made a second stop and unloaded some of the goods into my new address. This was a cross town move within the same city.

The company was responsive over the phone and scheduled our move easily. I asked my boyfriend to reconfirm the day before as I had read stories of movers not showing up. They did reconfirm but then did not show on time the next day. He called them and there was some confusion about scheduling and we were on the books for the following day - they were still able to come out and worked hard for approximately 6 hours to get our stuff moved. The second appointment we set to move again they did not show up. After many phone calls and them saying that there was a "computer problem" that led to scheduling issues they arrived 2 hours late. They moved the stuff and we were done. Workers were polite both times and did a great job with the actual moving of our stuff and furniture. Nothing was broken but the lateness and scheduling issues were a bit rediculous. Good thing I had been prepared for them to possibly be late or not show - if I hadn't been I would have had a heart attack on moving day!
Description of Work: Moving from a 2 bed 2 bath third floor walk up condo in the city to a large house in the suburbs. We did it in two parts as all of our stuff wouldn't fit in the van on the first day and the movers had another appointment to be at.

They were very flexible as we had to change our move day at the last minute because of issues closing the new house. The guys were late on the pick up date (hence the B for punctuality) because the truck got stuck in the winter snow storm. They did call to update on the timing, however. They moved our house with only 1 small scratch to the stair way which I thought was outstanding. Far better than any other moving company than we have used in the past. Overall, they were responsive, friendly and careful.

The owner came to do the estimate. Even though they were more expensive than other companies, I seriously considered using them since they've gotten such good reviews, especially on careful handling of goods. I did not use them because the preparation for the move for some items seemed more of a hassle than other estimates I got. 2 examples: One, they provide hanging clothes boxes. However, in their guidelines they say you have to bundle the clothes in sets of 5 and put them in bags(like trash bags upside-down). I wondered...are their boxes that dirty that I would have to protect my clothes like this? I did not have to do that for the hanging clothes boxes that were provided to me by the movers I hired. They ask that you disassemble the beds before they arrive, as that was not part of their estimate. To me that meant if I cannot do the disassembly myself, that cost would have been above and beyond the estimate provided. Nonetheless, the owner was very polite and it was obvious that he ran a good business.

We did the packing. They did the loading and moving. I liked them overall. They were very nice. There were still a few things in our basement that weren't yet packed and they helped consolidate that which was nice. Kenyada is very responsive and customer focused, and immediately provided a detailed estimate to my request. On packing day, the second packer didn't show up for a while and I had a lot to pack, so took the entire day and then some. The moving crew was right on time the next morning, and they loaded while the rest of the packing was done. The unload took quite a bit longer than expected, but it wasn't their fault - I moved to a challenging building. The crew was very nice and professional, and there was no damage at all to my things. This was a local move and I would definitely use them again. The only miss on services was that they didn't quite get everything from my old place (left a couple of things on the wall I had to go back and get, left some gardening supplies that clearly should have gone to the new place, etc.) and I had to go back to get those things myself.
