Description of Work: We needed someone to come figure out what is wrong with our gas fireplace. At first they didn't even want to help, then they made an appointment and when they did not show up and we called, they said they forgot and set another appointment for another day. On that day they called at the time they were supposed to arrive and said they were "sick" so couldn't come. They said they would call back to reschedule, which they have never done. They do not deserve anyone's business.

Description of Work: I GSS come out to service two fireplaces in the home we just purchased. They fixed the wiring in one and did a basic maintenance on both. I also got some great first hand information on using, managing, and the expected lifespan of our units. | |Unfortunately a few days later one of the glass windows shattered while I was out of town. I had GSS come out, clean up the mess, measure a replacement piece, and schedule a replacement install. They came back about a week later to install the new pane and gasket. My only wish would have been for them to cover up the fireplace to slow down the draft from the room. When I got home I just taped a garbage bag over the opening. | |Overall I feel great about my interactions with them and have zero hesitation recommending them to my friends/family. Professional, friendly, knowledgeable. Be aware that when you call to schedule an appointment there may be a little bit of phone tag with their dispatcher. It was a little bit of a hassle/confusion at first, but works out fine overall.

Description of Work: Our gas fireplace had an intermittent problem, not lighting or going out occasionally. It turned out to be the wall switch, which Ron replaced. He also did a complete service, cleaning and checking CO, all within his minimum charge.

He was very familiar with this type of problem, and unlike others I called he described the likelihood of different causes and the cost of repairing each, and all scenarios were cheaper and simpler than those given by others I called. This fireplace is in a rental that is managed by a management company. They let him in the house and he did the repairs. I wished he would have called me while he was there but since he fixed the problem for a great price I have no complaints.
Description of Work: Inspected and diagnosed a gas fireplace that would not light. He fixed the pilot parts (by cleaning them), tested them, and also cleaned up the fireplace in general.

 + -1 moreMy gas fireplace was suddenly going out or not lighting at all. I called PSE to look at it and they said it was probably a dirty valve but PSE doesn't do that kind of repair work. I called a "name" gas repair shop. The soonest they could come out was in 2 weeks. (This happened in Jan 09, so it was cold out.) I called Gas Safety Services. Ron came out the next day and his bill was half the amount the "name" gas repair shop was going to charge me.
Description of Work: Examined and tested my gas fireplace.

 + -1 moreThey were great! Ron Swenson (owner) came himself for the bid and the install, along with his associate John. Both were polite and knowledgeable and presented themselves professionally. When they came to do the job (right on time) I asked them to do a little more work. They were great about it and didn't double the bid on me and only asked for an amount that I thought was very fair. The workmanship is great! Ron took great care with the arrangement of the logs and embers in the fireplace.
Description of Work: They ran new gas piping in an unfinished basement and installed gas logs in a former wood fireplace.

 + -1 moreRon showed up a little later than planned but called prior to let me know that he was still on the earlier job. When he did show up, it took him only about 45 minutes to fix/clean and service my fireplace insert. Original installers put a plastic part very close to the burners and it had started to melt. Ron rerouted some wiring and now it should be good to go. It works like new now! Ron was very professional, knew his stuff, and took the time to clean the area before he left. Great job!
Description of Work: I bought my house about a year ago. At the time of purchase the fireplace insert didn't work, and with other items to do, this kinda slipped by for a year. Finally called three companies and Ron was the most responsive and able to come out the next day.

 + -1 moreRon was neat and professional. He extended the pilot turn-off, showed me how to do everything. He said code had changed so if I wanted to put in a new burner, it would be done differently but it is perfectly safe and ready to go. He also said it appeared to have been serviced fairly recently (something no one knew since I bought the house from an estate). Peace of mind and a working fireplace. What more could I ask for? And then I had to practically beg him to take $20 to pay for his gas.
Description of Work: I recently bought a house with my first ever gas fireplace. The inspector said it was so outmoded he wouldn't even try to turn it on. Fox Plumbing was out for another job and inspected it - said it would be almost $3-400 to get it workable (this would have brought it up to current code).

 + -1 moreIt went great. He cleaned, serviced and performed a quality check on the fireplace for $100. I was thrilled. A couple of weeks later, the fireplace started turning off and on automatically and not in compliance with the temperature on the thermostat. I called Ron and expressed my concerns. The only day he was available was New Year's Eve. He came out and found a wire that was touching the grate. He fixed that and thought it may have also been the thermostat itself. It has worked like a charm ever since and I did not have to replace the thermostat. There was no charge for the second visit. I offered to pay him at least a trip fee for the second visit, but he wouldn't hear of it preferring to provide quality service to his customers!
Description of Work: I needed someone to come out and service my gas fireplace. These types of service technician's are difficult to find. I thought the gas mixture balance was inaccurate. Ron didn't service my area in Lynnwood/Mukilteo. He referred me to some professionals in my area, but told me to call him back if I couldn't find anyone. In early December, I contacted 5-10 service technicians in my area but everyone was booked until February! Exasperated, I contacted Ron on December 10th and asked him to come out. The only slot he had available was on a Saturday so we booked an appointment; however, he didn't charge me overtime rate or a trip fee!

 + -1 moreRon came out and was punctual and efficient and professional, he even cleaned the area. He stayed to see if it would go out again for an hour or so, and asked us to call if it went out (even once), it worked for a couple of days, then went out again. He came back up and fixed it at no additional charge. He could have sold us extra parts or charged for the extra visit. He is truly a customer service professional, and my husband and I highly recommend him for fireplace servicing since that is all her does and he truly is an expert.
Description of Work: Our gas fireplace would go out after being on for about 15 minutes, and my husband would have to go manual light the pilot light every time we wanted a fire instead of using the switch like it was designed.

 + -1 moreCalled Sutter (gas fire sales) to see if they did repair. Few folks do repair on units they don't sell. They recommended Ron Swenson. He was busy but was able to fit us in the next day. Quick and efficient. Ninety five dollars is a min. sales call. Part was $40.00. On time, in and out in 20 minutes. Love it. I also am a big fan of the OWNER of specialist companies coming out and doing repairs.
