Response from Seattle Dog Guard
I do not have room here to provide a full response here, but I will try. The customer agreed to an installation plan with Alex on site and before he actually installed anything. He let her know there would be an additional cost for a watertight box, which is reflected in the quoted price, and the invoice. She then decided she wanted to move the transmitter to the outside of the unit weeks later. We scheduled to fix the issues, I told her I would try and be as reasonable about costs as I could. I said it would likely be our standard $200 service call plus $75 for the watertight box but I would try to cut it down. She cancelled that appointment day of. I emailed to check in about rescheduling, no response. A couple weeks went by without word, until she called Dog Guard manufacturing. I spoke with them, reached out to her, and within just a minute or two while trying to explain something, was told to "Go to h***" and hung up on. The customer then proceeded to spam me with text messages while I was working and told her I did not have the space at that moment to text back and forth, I later, knowing she was extremely upset and unhappy, offered to wave the service call fee of $200, and just have her pay the $75 for the exterior watertight box and put this all behind us. I was then met with more abusive language and have since taken space from the issue. I have had many occurrences over the years of customers wishing to change things, or similar, I have treated them as I have this customer and tried to make things reasonable for them, but also fair for us as a business as we have costs involved. I literally just did this with a customer that decided she wanted to move her wire from the agreed to point, she was happy to pay a reasonable sum, and I ended up only charging her half our normal service fee for the respect and care she treated us with and because the service call was relatively minor in scope of work. I have never had a problem like this with a customer. I hope anyone reading this takes my words to heart.

Description of Work: We have a digging dog who likes to dig under our fence line (we have a hodgepodge of fences) we decided an invisible fence was a better solution then putting in a physical fence and fighting with him. We contact Dog Gaurd and he came THAT Day for a quote. He then emailed us that week (as he stated) and then asked us preferences for communication - we opted for email. He was always good about emailing us both and was very proactive about communicating. We have worked with a lot of contractors and this is AMAZING. His work with our dog, in our yard, and with the fence was spot on and relevent. He was great about picking up after himself and training us the best way to deal with our dog. We love the fence - it works great and we are confident that if we have any problems we can get a hold of Dean no problem.

Dean from Seattle Dog guard was amazing. He came out for the estimate and we were not quite ready to move ahead schedule or finances wise but he explained everything to us and let us know that he was flexible. When we were finally ready to have the fence installed we were able to schedule just a couple of days in advance. He installed the whole fence and system in one day. He took great care to not ruin the gardens or grass where he laid the line. In fact after the first rain following installation you couldn't even see where the machine had laid the line anymore. He came out the following day to place the flags around the yard and begin training with the dogs. We originally thought that only 2 of the dogs would attempt to leave the yard so only got the two dogs collars and trained. We soon found out that the third dog would need a collar as well. I called dean and he was on it. He came out and fitted the third dog for her collar and did a training session right away with her. Now all of the dogs understand the training and know what the flags mean so we are able to let them out and enjoy the yard. I have to say I was a little skeptical that this system would work this well especially when the dogs try to chase deer out of the yard but they have stayed put. It is so nice to not have to walk them on a leash every time they need to go out! I would recommend Seattle dog guard to anyone and already have to our neighbor who just got a new dog. I will use them again in the future if we should move.

We just moved to a property on 2 acres, unfenced and were concerned that our 12 lb dog would get lost or be susceptible to predators. Dean did a fantastic job of working with me to come up with a creative solution for an invisible fence on our property. He was punctual, stuck to his budget and worked diligently all day. He even made the wiring that had to be run up and over our garage discreet so it didn't look tacky. He has followed up with 3 trainings for our dog and still responds quickly to my emails with questions I have, despite being done with the job. I would recommend him 100%.

We wanted an alternative to keep our 107 pound German Sheppard mix in our yard. We contacted three different vendors for pricing and selected Seattle Dog Guard based upon reviews and price. Dean came out to the house and met our dog Spencer, listed to our concerns and provided a very reasonable price. Dean kept all his appointments, was always in contact with us and would call the rare times he was running late. The installation went smoothly; all work was neat and clean. Training went smoothly as well. The product works as advertised and Spenser now stays in the yard. I highly recommend Seattle Dog Guard.

Dean was extremely professional and knowledgeable about his work. He is a very hard worker and I feel certain that if we ever had any issues with our invisible fence or needed a refresher with the dogs he would be here in an instant. My neighbors and I feel that we definitely hired the right person for the job. He gave us a great price and we felt great about supporting a local business! I would highly recommend his business to anyone looking to install an invisible fence.
Description of Work: Dean Watkins of Seattle Dog Guard spoke with me over the phone. He gave me a general idea of the cost after I explained to him that our next door neighbors and I would like to share an invisible fence. He came out to take a look at the property and definitely knew exactly what he was talking about. Once we agreed on a price he started work the very next week. Worked very hard for two days to install the invisible fence around both properties and then returned two times to do the training with the dogs.

Dean arrived on time and got right to work. His machine buries the wire about 4 inches underground. The earth here is full of rocks and roots but Dean powered through in about 3 hours. After that he professionally installed the radio system. We will pick up our new pup the end of May and Dean will come out to train her in June or July. I would highly recommend him.

We have a waterfront cabin with a fairly busy road and a beach full of oysters and seaweed that doesnt agree too well with both our dogs, so we decided it was time to research an invisible fence for them. I contacted a few companies and Dean was the only one to actually get back with me. He even called me from the jobsite to set up an appt. Our home is a couple hour drive from his location, and we only go out on weekends, none of which bothered him, so we set up an appt on the following saturday to look at the site. He was very thorough, listened to our concerns, and came up with a plan specifically for our layout, which had several difficult obstacles such as a concrete bulkhead, elevated deck, a boat launch, and tides to name a few. He returned the following weekend for the installation, and after working all day until it was dark, with very few breaks, he wasnt quite finished so he packed it up, took the ferry back to Seattle, and returned promptly the following morning. This guy knows how to work ! He completed the installation, cleaned up nicely, and then proceeded to work on training our dogs to the new system. Since we are only out on weekends it will take a few training sessions for them to get the hang of it, and Dean says will be back out to help us work with them. Dean is very friendly, honest, knowledgable, hard working, and knows customer service. I will refer anyone looking for this system directly to him. Great job !

I met Dean at the Remodel Expo in February. He was proffesional and informative. I described my lot and dogs to him and he thought we would be a good fit for a Dog Guard fence. I had him out to the house for a more thorough review/estimate of the situation. His quote was less expensive than I expected and both my wife and I thought he was very knowledgable and we wrote him a check on the spot. He had Locate come out and mark all of our underground lines the next monday and he installed the fence on tuesday. He was very careful and you cannot tell where the lines are buried at all. He had to cut through our driveway to close the loop and you would never notice the tiny line it left. Dean was great in the 3 subsequent training sessions and despite having sensitive dogs they have both been very successful with the fence so far. We have had a few corrections and the dogs have responded really well to them thanks to the training that Dean did with them. Dean's family actually manufactures all of the hardware that he uses and they stand behind it. 2 zones of correction was a very important feature for my wife and I and Dog Guard allows you to manage those settings. I am very happy with all of the work that Dean did and the quality of his products. He is a genuine, compassionate and knowledgable person and his business truly reflects that. I would not hesitate to recommend Seattle Dog Guard to anyone.
Description of Work: Dean at Seattle Dog Guard installed a perimeter electronic fencing system for my home. The perimeter included burying cables through existing landscaping and wooded areas as well as cutting though my asphalt driveway. Total area of the perimeter is 3/4 of an acre. He included 2 collars for my dogs and 3 separate training sessions.
