Nothing but good things to say about Bruce and Simonne. I bought my house two years ago and the seller had just planted some bamboo as a privacy hedge. I was naive and figured it couldn't be a big deal but two years later, it was taking over one side of the house and was spreading fast. I contacted three bamboo removal services by email for quotes. Bruce answered my message quickly and he and Simonne came out to evaluate before the other service providers I'd reached out to had even replied to my initial inquiries. Their quote was in line with the other providers - it was more than I was hoping to spend, but I concluded it was typical for this service. Throughout the project they were thoughtful, direct, flexible, and transparent. It took about two weeks to get the work done (they were chipping away at it on the way to and from other larger projects). They did everything with hand tools. Twice they thought the rhizomes may have burrowed below obstacles where they couldn't be removed, and they apprised me of this promptly and explained how to deal with such orphaned rhizomes (prune until it "gives up") - but in the end, they said they were able to remove everything so if any more bamboo appeared, I should call them to remedy. It's a relief to have this taken care of and to know the work is guaranteed. They offered to help me replace the bamboo with proper containment but I'm not ready to consider that yet ... however if I change my mind I know who to call.
Description of Work: Removed bamboo growth of about 2 years from a 100 square foot area.

James came in pretty quickly and did a bid for us within the week. From there we accepted his bid and he started his work a few weeks later (right on his scheduled time.) He took the amount of time he said he would take, and came in nearly $1000 below his original bid. He provided excellent advice regarding maintenance and left the yard in excellent condition afterwards. My wife and I were very pleased with his work.
Description of Work: We had a large amount of bamboo that needed to be removed from the yard.

Bruce and his team did an excellent job. We had no idea how invasive and horrible bamboo is when we purchased the house. Initially we thought the price for bamboo removal is very high, however, it is worth every penny as this toxic plant is impossible to kill. Bruce and his team worked every day removing and tracing each rhizome by hand, very labour intensive and meticulous job. We are very happy with the results - it's been nearly a year and no roots have returned! Bruce also guarantees his work for lifetime and stands behind his quality. We are very happy and thankful. Highly recommend these folks for bamboo removal. Worth every penny.

My neighbors bamboo, planted along the property line, invaded my yard. Not being familiar with bamboo, I wasn't concerned when I noted a couple of stalks shooting up next to the grove. I just cut them off and forgot about it. Unknown to me, the bamboo grove had matured and was running shoots on my property. By the time the shoots started coming up, the area involved in my yard was larger than the original grove. Bamboo shoots were coming up all over at unbelievable speed. I called Seattle Bamboo because they specialize in Bamboo. To me, my situation was a crisis. I wanted the job done right. Bruce, from Seattle Bamboo, worked with me and my neighbor to coordinate bamboo removal on both properties. The relationship between my neighbor and I was pretty strained at this point. Bruce went over and above to assist with conflict resolution. He also educated me on how bamboo spreads and matures. When the team moved in to commence removal, they proved to be fast, efficient and well coordinated. Part of the job needed to wait 7 weeks until my A/C was removed. Once the A/C was disconnected, Bruce was back in a day to finish the work. All my phone calls were promptly returned. I found Bruce really easy to communicate with. The work is guaranteed. It's unlikely I will have any problems in the future but its sure nice to know I can call Seattle Bamboo should I need to.

It went great! I'm happy to have gotten the bamboo dealt with before it became a big problem and really appreciated how well they worked with me to develop a plan to fit my budget. Their expertise was obvious and they had many suggestions for options.
Description of Work: Removed the bamboo in a 24' low-level planter that had been planted to create a screen between houses but not maintained, built a smaller planter that will allow easier maintenance, and replanted key plants to maintain the upper level screening as much as possible.

I contacted Bruce via email with questions regarding a special bamboo planting project for my home. I had purchased a large container and needed the proper type and amount of bamboo for the location and container. Bruce responded immediately and knew exactly what I needed and made himself available for me to view my options. We made arrangements to get together and he even assisted with loading the plants. Bruce was friendly and knowledgeable and I very pleased with the whole experience.

Seattle Bamboo Company is the absolute best! Bruce Magnotti and Simonne Garrigues were very professional on the phone and in person while outlining the best steps to stop the bamboo rhizone encroachment from my neighbor's yard through my driveway asphalt. Bruce returned calls promptly andarrived promptly which I appreciated. He and Simonne were also available to speak with other professionals working on this particular problem. They did all the work with a guarantee and indicated they would be checking for rhizone activity for at least six months. I had no problem communicating with them as they were always available by phone. Seattle Bamboo was recommended by a popular local landscape company as the only company to call to handle any kind of bamboo problem. Seattle Bamboo is the only company I would recommend Seattle Bamboo to fix any bamboo problem you might have.
Description of Work: Seattle Bamboo worked to correct a bamboo encroachment problem caused by neighbor's bamboo trees that were out of control causing a major and expensive problem for me. It was a pleasure working with them.

Had been in contact with Bruce a number of times via phone to coordinate a time when he could come over and examine area discussed for bamboo removal. We made arrangements twice (for Weds and Fri) and he failed to show up at the appointed times. - He called on Thursday and apologized after the first miss and we coordinated for the second time. - On Saturday, after the second missed appointment on Friday, he called and left message as if nothing had happened and that I should call him back to arrange a time. I called him back and indicated that he had missed yesterday's appointment and asked if he would show up again if we made another appointment. He said that he did not know what I was talking about and that he had tried to contact me a number of times. Then he hung up. (But he called back and said that he had intermittent service...if that means anything.) I called him back and he did not pick up (the last call he picked up immediately and said hello and addressed me by my first name). I left him a voice mail about his lack of professionalism based on two missed appointments and the lack of contrition from him re: those missed appointments. My time is as valuable as is his and I arranged my schedule to accommodate his in order to be at home based on his availability. I don't believe that I received the same respect from him that I gave him. Given that, I am choosing to no longer pursue services through Seattle Bamboo.
Description of Work: No services performed due to lack of responsiveness from Bruce.

Our new house came with beautiful bamboo on every side of our lot--and, with it, a host of bamboo problems. Within a month, bamboo shoots were popping up everywhere, including the neighbors' yard. Over many years, a rhizome network had built up under the landscaping, driveway, and sidewalk. We called Bruce and Simone for help. They gave an honest appraisal of the situation and recommended a plan. They did all of the work themselves, carefully, with a guarantee to boot. They even laboriously removed our concrete driveway by hand to prevent further rhizome spread. They event went the extra mile to supervise a concrete contractor repaving the driveway and sidewalk, preventing a host of mistakes. Communication was excellent. We wholeheartedly recommend Seattle Bamboo. They are quite knowledgable about different bamboo varieties and the problems they can cause, with solutions. Our bamboo is safely contained and looks great. They are true experts (and artists) and care deeply about their work.
Description of Work: Bamboo consultation, removal, replanting, and rhizome trench and barrier installation.
