+ -1 moreScott was on time and very professional. Diagnosed the issue right away. Only glitch was that he had to break a plastic part to get another part off. He ordered the new part and was back in two days to fix and finish. Paid for the service call, the part and the time it took him to uninstall and install all the other parts. Dishwasher is back to normal without all the rumbling that was going on. Will most definitely call again if applicance repair is needed. Nice to know he is in the West Seattle neighborhood.
Description of Work: Fixed a very noisy dishwasher. Took apart blade on the bottom and cleaned out debris around the water filter. Had to order a new part. Start to finish took 3 days. If not for the part, would have finished in probably 1.2 hour.

Description of Work: Maytag dryer - sounded like belt was squeaking and inside of drum had some kind of occasional residue. We called for advice and service. Since the symptoms did not make sense or sound right to him with his over 20 years of exp, we asked him to come out, which he was able to do that same day. He arrived when he said. He ran and listened to the dryer which he said sounded very fine to him. We figured out that the residue was probably casued by the underside of some rug backing. He recommended that we keep an eye on the dryer and then contact him later. Scott was very honest and clearly trying not to open the dryer up for unnecessary service and charges, which we truly appreciated. We were the ones who asked him to open up the dryer anyway to check since he was here. Then when he did, he confirmed that nothing was wrong and in fact that the dryer was running in very good shape. All along the way he explained about the dryer, what would be the possible causes of a dryer squeaking, one of which could be rollers, but those we fine as well. Since the dryer was open, we just had him put new ones at our request, so we would not have to put new ones in later. He complied with our wishes and did a quick, efficient job. His location is convenient as we live in West Seattle and he is located in West Seattle, too. Overall we were very impressed by Scott, as responsive, professional, honest, knowledgeable, great customer facing skills, great communicator, and very knowledgeable about Maytag products. We will DEFINITELY use him again and will most definitely RECOMMEND him to others. We only make such recommendations when we are 100% satisfied. We found out about this professional through Angies List. and the great rankings and recommendations from past customers.

+ -1 moreI was in need of refrigerator repair and chose a company rated "A" that was also near (6.9 miles) to my home. I called Scott Wiseman and when he asked me where I lived there was a pause and then Scott told me he doesn't "service that area". (Lakeridge/Renton/Skyway/Upper Rainier Beach.) Confused, I asked why he would not service an area that was less than 7 miles from him and he replied that he had enough business to keep him busy "in his own neighborhood" (West Seattle). I believe he would not come to my home because he felt it was "in the ghetto". When I asked him why his advertising did not reflect that he worked exclusively in West Seattle his answer was that he "didn't write that stuff" and wasn't responsible for what his ads said. Really?

+ -1 moreScott answered the phone and said he could come immediately, or we could schedule another day and time. I took him up on the immediate visit. He was about to head to another job in another area, but he squeezed me in to accommodate. He went right to work to figure out the problem, asking me key questions along the way about what had been happening, what I had tried, how often the fridge compressor runs, etc. The problem was resolved quickly at a very reasonable price. I was very satisfied and impressed.
Description of Work: I called for troubleshooting a 2008 Amana top-freezer refrigerator that seemed to be running too warm in the fresh food section but fine in the freezer section. Scott immediately determined that the cooling systems were functioning normally and showed me the signs of normal operation, and what different failure modes would look like. The problem was a malfunctioning cold control in the fresh food compartment, but it was a benign problem with an easy workaround by adjusting the setting.

Description of Work: Our 5-year-old front-loading washing machine had been signaling that there was a drainage problem. My husband and I had followed directions in the manual as far as we were comfortable without solving the problem. When I called Scott and told him that we had already attempted to fix the problem, he gave me simple instructions for how to access the pump filter and clean it out. This simple procedure, which was not described in the appliance manual, corrected the problem and didn't cost me a penny.

+ -1 moreScott came out one business day after my call to make an appointment to look at the dryer. At the time of the appointment he clearly spelled out his rates. He gave a window of time he'd be there and called on the way. He diagnosed the problem quickly, took the time to show me what was wrong and how I could fix it in the future, cleaned up and was out of our house in under 45 minutes. A well done and time-efficient business, which is nice when you are being charged by the time increment. I have since learned that Scott is highly recommended around my office (of real estate agents) as well.

+ -1 moreI called Wiseman's at 1:30 in the afternoon. Scott Wiseman showed up at 3:30. He diagnosed the problem very quickly; without making any fuss he took apart the freezer compartment, thawed out the ice, procured a replacement board and even knew how to do the necessary reprogramming of the thing. Scott was competent, professional, human, pleasant and FAST. (He even gave me tips on how to do the job myself if it happened again in the future)! I'd call him again without hesitation.
Description of Work: A computerized control board had malfunctioned causing ice to block air outlets to the fridge compartment. Freezer compartment had to be disassembled, outlets thawed, control board replaced and re-programmed.

He explained his rates on the phone, showed up on time, was very neat about his work, answered all my questions and even fixed a malfunctioning soap dispenser in the dishwasher while he was there and I don't think he even charged for that. Very happy with the service and would hire Scott again or recommend him.
Description of Work: Scott came to our house to either do an estimate on our dishwasher or do the repair. He was able to diagnose the problem in about 10 minutes. One of the wires was faulty. He performed the repair and was out the door in about 45 minutes.

He wrote a clear invoice when the work was done, I settled it, and he disappeared into the morning light like a master appliance ninja.
Description of Work: My 3-yr-old Kenmore HE front-loading washing machine wouldn't stop filling with water and would eventually force the door open and dump water onto the floor. I spoke with Scott on the phone, described the problem in detail, he diagnosed it, ordered a part (water valve), and said he'd be by a few days later once the part had arrived. He arrived promptly at the scheduled time and installed the new valve in under 30 minutes. He also replaced some rubber hoses with metal-mesh-wrapped ones because he suspected that excess water pressure caused the washing-machine's old valve to fail. The whole job was done in under an hour.
