Description of Work: Sage & Stone completed a total backyard renovation including extensive hardscape and plantings. Gabe designed a bluestone patio with stone seat wall plus a stone fireplace and a fountain. Gabe was excellent to work with. Very responsive and communicative via text, email, and phone, very organized and very proactive keeping me posted on project timelines. While I think he and I have different taste, he was completely faithful to my inspiration photos and brought my dream to life. He's professional, warm, kind, and pays his team living wages. I unreservedly recommend Sage & Stone. The project transformed my crappy backyard into a polished, spectacular courtyard for entertaining. While the whole project wasn't cheap, it has made usable what was once just a junky patch out back. I get constant joy from my backyard now and the project was worth the investment. Gabe was terrific to work with.

They started a month later then they said they would. The hardscape turned out great but the landscaping they did not amend the soil, which they said they would in the estimate. They didn't put the plants in we agreed on. Attempting to resolve the problem with the company was not a good experience. We left like we weren't important and that our job was too small to even be considered to make right. My husband and I ended up doing the work ourselves. We paid a hauling service to take the unamended soil away, paid for new soil to be delivered and the paid for new plants that we planted. They did give us a $250 credit toward the service but that didn't even cover the cost to haul the unamended soil away. I would not recommend this company.
Description of Work: They were supposed to provide native landscaping as well as hardscape for our small backyard.

Response from Sage and Stone
THE SOIL REMOVED WAS AMENDED AND BUILT UP ABOVE THE CLAY SUB SOIL TO PROTECT THE PLANTS FROM OVER SATURATION DURING THE WINTER MONTHS, AND TO GIVE SOME TEXTURE AND FLOW TO THE YARD. SOME NATIVE PLANTS ARE HARD TO FIND IN THE NURSERIES AT TIMES, SO WERE REPLACED WITH OTHER WONDERFUL NATIVE PLANTS. THIS IS COMMON IN LANDSCAPING, AND WAS COMMUNICATED AND AGREED UPON PRIOR TO PLANTING. FURTHERMORE, WE INSTALLED A DRY STREAM BED/RAIN GARDEN AT NO COST, AND GAVE A SIGNIFICANT DISCOUNT ON COMPOST AND DUMP FEES.

During the initial consultation, Gabe was very enthusiastic and I got the impression he really enjoyed his work. He was never pushy. He took notes and photos of the site and really took the time to talk about and help shape a vision for our garden. I particularly appreciated how he presented his estimate and sketch. He offered two possible designs and included photos of the plants he suggested using. During the job, Gabe and Travis were professional, friendly, patient, and overall extremely pleasant to work with. They arrived on time, worked quickly, and were always willing to explain what they were doing and answer any questions I had. I thought their estimate was very fair.
Description of Work: Gabe and Travis turned our small weed-filled front yard into a lovely garden of natives and edibles. They used environmentally friendly practices and site appropriate native plants. They dug up the grass and weeds, mulched to suppress future weeds, planted a variety of herbs, shrubs and bulbs and created a small fine gravel path to a little sitting area. They also replanted an existing tree for us that had been planted improperly. The job took two days.
