Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

They were polite and professional, and they finished the job expeditiously while still paying close attention to detail.

It was one guy. They did not follow up on their work.

So far, it is good. I do not know what they replaced it with and hopefully, it will hold up, but they did the job and left. The price was a little high I think. I might use them again in the future, but I would probably check for somebody else to see if they are cheaper.

UPDATE: I was given a full refund after they heard my complaint!

I was not satisfied because they did not fix the problem. They just replaced something and went on their way. They did not try to take the faucet apart to see if that was the issue; they did not even attempt that. They did not attempt a number of things. They just basically said “it can’t be this and it can’t be that, it’s got to be this” so he just replaced something on the faucets and went on his way. I have to contact other plumber to get their opinion. I would say not to go to them because they are not going to solve the issue or at least that particular plumber. I am not sure about the entire company but this particular plumber did not do his job.

The dispatcher called to say our repair guy would arrive at 8am; he arrived right on time. He did the job quickly, gave us some advice to keep it from happening again, and cleaned up the mess. He was friendly and professional.

we sold our house & knew we needed to clear this one plugged downspout. We had thought that it could be "snacked" but we were told otherwise by our gutter cleaners. They suggested "RotoRooter". I called today, the dispatcher called back & said Anthony would be able to help us in about an hour. Anthony was prompt, he was very good at his job, cleaned the yuck out and our driveway. I was just shocked at the cost.

Technician Sergey was at my home in less than an hour after I called and got right to work. Sergey not only replaced the disposal but corrected the angle of the pipes under the sink. He also noted that the dishwasher was not correctly vented and he fixed that too. He was very courteous and friendly. I have used this company in the past and will continue to do so in the future. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing any kind of plumbing services.

Roto rooter is super responsive because they are a national chain. You can get dispatchers at any time and usually schedule something convenient. That's where the problems start. It's not like you're talking to your friend the plumber next door. You're talking to a corporation. No one who picks up the phone can advise you, nor give you any prices. They leave that to the technicians. OK, I can handle that. I tell dispatch that I've got a storm drain that needs work. Next morning at 8 AM (first part of the window), the guy shows up. I show him the storm drain. He says that needs hydrojetting - the dispatch notes said interior drain stack so he is not prepared to hydrojet. He leaves. He cannot tell me much more about hydrojetting because he doesn't do that. 3 hours later the next guy comes. He doesn't give me much detail, there's no real analysis except looking at the size of the pipe and hearing "it backed up", so he says I should hydrojet it for $500+. And he has no way to use a camera to analyze unless he charges me $250 other bucks. Of course, they expect since the guy is at my place I'll relent and pay whatever. I decline and send him away since others offered to do the job for less money AND use a camera to see if there indeed was a blockage. .....Roto Rooter sends me coupons and such offering me to have them come back. This makes them price competitive and I don't have to decide in the moment. I schedule time for them to come back. They miss the window to come back - I call, and the dispatcher argues with me that the 2 hour window they gave me is "just guidance and they don't guarantee coming during that window". No where do they state that - I would've scheduled a different time as I had a hard stop at the end of the window. I tell them not to come back. They offer another discount - I accept and a supervisor says he'll guarantee the next window "even though they don't do that". The technician then comes out and he was a nice enough guy who seemed to know how to run the equipment. Unfortunately there was no way to be certain he solved the problem after that. He did, indeed, do the hydrojetting so seems the pipes were clear. But he couldn't diagnose beyond that. Which is fair -- but I have to wonder whether there were cheaper ways to figure out if another problem could've caused the backup than assuming a $500 hydrojet charge was the immediate way to go. Upshot: RotoRooter is great if you know exactly what you need and absolutely insist on them doing what they say when they say it (and pressing for compensation if they don't). They are not the company to use if you need an expert to advise you.

We think of them as unplugging toilets. They did a very nice job. This guy came out and he did a great job of he had to replace part of the pipe from the shower drain and had to cut a big hole in our kitchen that it was dripping into.

We scheduled online and could have had it anytime 24/7 but opted for the next morning. The provider checked our plumbing and septic tanks and determined that it was a problem with the tanks. Since Roto-Rooter doesn't deal with septic systems he told us to contact a septic company (no specific referrals) and did not charge us for the check. He was very professional and courteous. I would happily use them again if needed and greatly appreciate the appointment availability.

Went well. Service technician was very professional, if a bit difficult to understand (soft spoken & accent). They responded to our call quickly, which was appreciated. Price seemed a bit high, although we have to factor in driving time to and from our location, so maybe it isn't that bad after all.

They were fine. I prefer O'neil Plumbing but they couldn't come so I called them. They did okay. They didn't do anything wrong and they were prompt. I think they have a fair price.

He was able to get the toilet running smoothly again and seemed to know what he was doing. He also suggested some liquid concentrate drain cleaner to use in the bathroom and kitchen sinks.

I was pleased with the service and have Roto-Rooters number in my address book in case we have plumbing issues in future. It cost a little more than I was hoping, but was well worth my husband not having to spend the day under the sink and grumbling and making the many trips to the hardware store it usually takes to get the correct parts!

The team was extremely upbeat and helped me recover from this loss as well. Few people typically expect damage to their home and when it happens they are usually in shock. These guys went straight to work and prevented additional water damage. They quickly removed the problem areas and helped set up for a quick recovery/remodel. I would highly recommend their water extraction capabilities! Very efficient, very professional, very quick. I was amazed at how quickly they assessed and were able to remove the problem areas - THANKS Roto-Rooter!! Although large sections of my hardwood flooring had to be removed, I strongly believe they prevented additional water damage. Both bathrooms were also gutted to the sub-flooring and drywall cut away to the studs to a height of 2 feet all around. Toilets, vanities, mirrors, and molding were gently removed and appear to be salvageable.

Went very well. Placed a call, and the technician came out within 48 hours. In less than 15 minutes the clock was unclogged. Met my expectation, although in my opinion, I believe that $350 for 15 minutes work was a bit expensive.

Paul arrived timely radiating a cheerful demeanor and went right to work. The work was done faster than I expected. He left the area clean and left whistling.

Great Experience. Capable, polite serviceman came and, after assessing where the best place to attack the job was, gave me a clear estimate. No messing about with coupons, he stated the price of the job, and the discount that he would give me. He said that if I had coupons that were a better deal, we'd do it that way, but I was quite pleased that he gave me a better deal than the coupon. He did the job well, clearing out the drains.

11/21/14 Service Call: Refused to work on the problem. Claimed the product was unsupported by the manufacturer and the retailer. Left after short inspection. I called the retailer, Home Depot, who's rep spent several hours investigating the options for the 10 year old Pegasus product and called back twice to gather additional information and finally to refer me to the manufacturers product support. Called Pegasus support who called back promptly, put me in touch with the right support team. That team asked a couple of a questions and then mailed at no charge a replacement part that arrived within a week. Turns out that Roto-Rooter does not charge the usual fee to come out and look at the problem but the quoted labor rates are pretty high. 1/9/15 Update: After posting my initial review Chris, the Plumbing Manager for Roto-Rooter called me to offer to correct the situation. We scheduled a visit by a supervisor and a technician that went very well. The arrived within the designated window of time and installed the new cartridge I received from Pegasus quickly. They took care to wear shoe coverings to keep the house clean, left the work site in good order, and were courteous and friendly. Roto-Rooter discounted the invoice for my troubles and I can say I am very pleased with the professional and immediate action taken to correct an initially disappointing service call. This is a sign of a good company, standing behind their name, and correcting problems that can occur in any business. Ironically, the problem turned out to be a clogged cartridge screen that could have been easily fixed by the first technician. The team that did the work on Jan 8 was completely different... a god experience!

Florin went right to the source, solved the leaking problem (flow to downstairs bathroom ceiling) and completed the reset. Was courteous and efficient....a pleasure to work with. Eliminated our stress.

Robert was here for less than an hour and could tell right away where the obstructions were. He had the proper equipment to fix the job and everything works well! He was polite and very personable and explained everything that he was doing!

UPDATE - After posting the review below, I received a call from the manager. He said Corporate had seen the review and that he was calling to let me know that the 3 people that were sent to my house would be retrained. He apologized saying that what I experienced was not normal and they did not do business that way. He refunded the $559 they charged for their services plus $300 toward the repairs it took to fix the pipes they broke to get their snake out of our drain. I was surprised at their follow up and thankful for the refund. They advertise 24 hour service. I called at 11:00 on Friday night 11/13/14. No service until the following morning. Guy charges $559 to run a snake down the line and replace the seal on the toilet. A few hours after he leaves, I hear a gurgle and the water is flowing out between the toilet & floor again. We wait several hours for the 2nd service person to arrive. He makes a feeble attempt at digging up the access lit on the septic tank. Misses it by about a foot and won't listen to where I tell him to dig. Instead, he runs a snake down 30 foot of pipe and gets it stuck in the tank. 30 foot of a cutting snake is now stuck in the line. He says he will need to get someone out the following day to dig up and break the line to retrieve it. It will cost another $1,400+ for them to perform that work which will include breaking and replacing 5' of pipe. But they can't say if there is other damage in the line and they will replace the whole 30' of line at a cost of around $4,000. No credit or discount will be given for the $559 already spent for work not yet performed. I say no. He leaves, leaving 30' of heavy duty snake in the pipe and another 20' laying on the ground where he went in. I call again the next morning and they say the only way they will come out to remove the snake is if I agree to their work proposal to break the line, remove the snake and replace the pipe. I say NO, come get your snake out of my pipes. 7 1/2 hours and 2 very unpleasant phone calls later, a 3rd service person arrives. I dug up 5' of line leading to the septic tank before he arrived. He breaks the pipe, retrieves their snake and leaves. I now have a broken line I have to repair. I contact a septic specialist that replaces all 30' of concrete pipe leading from the house to the septic tank for $1,300. That is 30% of what it would have cost me to go with their proposal. 70% LESS! These guys clearly saw an opportunity to gouge a person over the weekend by rendering the septic unusable and quoting an outrageous amount to get it working again. If the snake had not gotten stuck, and they had not broken the pipe to get it out, I would not have had to replace the line. It is outrageous!
