Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Wasn't impressed enough to hire them.

It worked out great. We're very happy. They solved our problem. My husband was very happy. They were on time. I would recommend them. It was a good experience.

Our technician Giovanni was excellent! He showed up on time, was courteous, polite and friendly. He quickly assessed the problem and went to work straight away. He educated me on their process and what the issue was, and allowed me to view the camera as it was running our lines so I could see what he sees. He even gave us a video of our pipes! He resolved the issue quickly. He assured us that if we had any questions or concerns we can contact them anytime. He was great! We really appreciate the great service! Its such a relief to have 'go-to's' for home services.

Yesterday We had sewage backing up into the basement bath through toilet and shower. When I called Roto-Rooter I was advised that before they come out we should make sure it is not a septic tank issue. When I checked, the tank was full. I was able to get it pumped out this morning. The sewage was still backing up. I called Roto-Rooter again and Toan and George were able to come quickly, unclog the pipe to the septic tank through the clean out hole, and show me a video of the condition of the cast iron pipe that is 56 years old and deteriorating. They advised getting the portion of the pipe that ran from the house to the clean out hole replaced and prepared a proposal for that. A second proposal for shooting an inside liner up the entire pipe was prepared. I was especially pleased with the quick response and being able to see the video of the cast iron pipes.

The guy came in and he took one look at it and said it was broken and could not be fixed. He went to the truck to get one, and he charged me $300 to come in the door and $350 for the faucet. I was at my sisters the other day, and I told her that we had the same faucet and she said that it didn't cost her $350. I just said I have a leak, and they came out. I had all my things under my sink out. We remodeled the kitchen in 1997 and it could have been the faucet that we had from the beginning. One of my neighbors asked me why I let him get away with it, and I said I felt like a fool. I will never use them again. He was fast. He was a terrific con artist to sell it to me for $350 when I know you can go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get it for $100 and some.

The two men who came were very polite. They put on shoe covers before coming in. However, their price was ridiculous. I had hoped that they were only going to be slightly higher than a normal plumber, or that I could negotiate to an acceptable price, but no deal. When I called the company, I tried to get them to give me some idea of what their billing rates were. They would give me no info over the phone, they have to come for an estimate. Seems to me that that is a waste of all of our time. This is the company to call with a disaster, but so overpriced that they are not worth it for a general plumbing problem.

Water was bubbling up in the basement. Thought it was a plugged pipe. Called Roto Rooter. Over the next three or four days, different Roto Rooter people were here, analyzing, estimating, cleaning, fixing. It was like a parade of men in blue shirts with Roto Rooter logos. It ended up it was a broken 90-year-old concrete sewer pipe outside the house. Simultaneously and unrelatedly, a pipe broke under the kitchen sink. They did a great job. They were all professionals. They answered all my questions truthfully. There was little or no effort to over-sell.

The Plumber was here for less than 45 minutes and charged $280.00 for labor. That is highway robbery. What is your hourly charge for Labor? It can not be $280. The Work done: "replaced both supplied for water heater". He was not clear when he quoted the job. He said it would be "$280.... $100 is for parts". I was expecting the total bill to be $280. Then when he was working on it, I wanted to write the check, for payment, I say "the price is $280 right?" he says, "plus parts and tax..." The total cost of the job was $386.24. That was a surprise to me because I thought $280 was a lot. Please refund me $100. That is what I feel was over charged.

I contacted them on Saturday, Oct 30th but they said they could not get to me until Monday. I said, ok put me on the schedule. They said they would be there between noon and 4 pm on Monday, Nov 2nd. I called Monday morning to confirm that I was still on the their schedule. I called again at 4pm io ask where they were. The dispatcher said they were behind schedule and he MIGHT be able to get someone to my (rental) house today or tomorrow. I received no call to let me know and because my phone call was switched to different people twice, i believe they did not even have me scheduled. I finally called another plumber who responded within 90 minutes. Poor service and I won't call rotor tooter again.

Technician (Florin Regus) came to our Kirkland home right on time. He quickly figured out what needed to be done. He explained about the pricing and accepted my coupon. He performed the task patiently and professional. The drain line was cleaned and was working properly again. He also cleaned up the floor after the job completed. It was a job well done.

They worked hard to identify the problem in the most timely manner and solved our issue. The guys were really professional and super helpful.

The scheduler and dispatcher were both helpful and friendly. I was able to schedule an appointment for the limited time I had available. The plumber (Eli) arrived promptly during that window. He explained clearly what he planned to do and did an excellent job in far less time than I had expected. He also solved the problem with my in-sink garbage disposal by checking the circuit breaker--and didn't make me feel stupid for not thinking of it myself. :-) Altogether a very satisfactory experience.

Technician arrived exactly on time, got to work immediately, explained what he needed to do after looking over the pipes and drain lines. Kept floors and counters clean, worked carefully and with professional interactions with family. No lectures about using garbage disposal (I seldom use it) but he gave some suggestions, if it is used. Explained the price, accepted a discount coupon even though I was unable to print it successfully.

Scheduled 1-4 window on Friday (9/11). Supposed to get call 30 minutes before worker shows up. Got called towards 4PM and dispatch said that they were running behind and they wouldn't be there in the window. I had plans that evening so I rescheduled. I asked them if I scheduled earlier in the day would they be more likely to make their time window because I needed them to be there when they said they would be. The dispatcher said they could come Saturday between 10AM-1PM. Next day around 11AM I got a call from dispatch said they were running behind. Finally at around 2PM I got a call from dispatch and the lady said a plumber would be there in 30 minutes. I laughed because they were so far out of their window and this was the second time they had done this to me. I told the lady what happened and that I was going to leave a bad review on Angie's list. She asked if I wanted to speak to her manager because she wanted to see if they could rectify the situation. I was put on hold and a 2 minutes later she came back on the line and told me her manager was too busy to talk to me. I guess maybe someone is getting good service from these guys because they seem really busy... just not in a way that helps me at all. I gave them a C (rather than an F) on professionalism because at least they were calling me to tell me they weren't coming. I guess the moral of the story is if you want them in the afternoon get your window in the morning. Update: Got a message on my phone on 9/26/15 from someone at rotor rooter saying they read this feedback and they were sorry to hear about my experience and if I could please call them back at (800)438-7686. I called the number back and I guess it is some routing number. The first time I called they routed me to dispatch and the person was confused and thought maybe I got mis-routed (this was after I was on hold for about 3 minutes). I called back and explicitly told them that I was calling back because someone had read this feedback and wanted me to call the number above back. They routed me to some call center where again the person was confused why I was calling them (after about 5 minutes on hold). They asked me if I wanted to reschedule the appointment. I said no. She asked me if I wanted a manager to call me back and I said no I really had no desire now to talk to anyone at rotor rooter. After 15 minutes of frustration and confusion I'm done with this company. In summary, I really don't know about their plumbing expertise but as a company they seem very disorganized and not well suited to deal with the work volume they currently have (maybe because of their positive reviews). Everyone seemed to busy to take care of me. After my bad experience with rotor-rooter I called another local company I had worked with in the past (check my other reviews). The other company gave me a time, a precise time they would show up, not a 3 hour window. And they arrived right on time, did the work well and made me happy. My time is important, especially when I have to stay home from work, not sure what price rotor-rooter would have quoted me but I'm willing to pay a little more for a company that respects my time.

The technician, Sandeep, called me to say he was running late and kept me posted about his planned arrival time. He was polite, thorough, and efficient. After discussing options, he contacted his supervisor since the layout of the crawl space made the job more complicated. He showed me the tile chip he removed and also provided some tips for future remodeling considerations to make the plumbing more accessible. Sandeep cleaned up thoroughly and discussed what to do if any problems occurred. He provided his contact information. There was no charge for this job.

I liked that they talked directly to me and explained why they were doing certain things. Overall great experience.

Overall, it went great. The technician was firendly (Florin Regus)' gave me some helpful hints about the future and came right on time. It was a very good experience for me,

From the time I called for an appointment, everyone was very professional and responsive. The technician was very experienced and knowledgeable. Very impressed with the customer service and quality of the service.

Technician was very helpful and courteous. Gave us some options. Suggested we buy the unit ourselves to save money and was very honest in telling us what we could do ourselves to save money. I liked his honesty... it was refreshing.

This was the absolute worst experience I have had with ANY contractor. First there was a lot of confusion over the phone during scheduling. One minute someone was on their way and the next min I was next in line after a job in Seattle. I must have talked to 4 different people and it was a whole day later before someone finally showed. The man that came was very unprofessional looking. He had long sweaty hair and reeked like a cigarette ashtray. He just walked in my house with no introduction like he owned the place. He did maybe 10 mins work in the bathroom which I stayed back since I don't know what smelled worst, the toilet or the Roto-Rooter guy! He goes back out to his vehicle and is out there for literally over an hour. Then he comes in and tries to sell me some BS with a bunch of work that was not necessary and a $15K bid! That was the end of it right there. I called a competitor and within one hour they had my toilet fixed and running and only charged me $40.00. Don't ever call Roto-Rooter if your in a s***** situation because they are already full of it.

The scheduling process is well-organized and efficient....from their national call center to their local office. I've used Roto-Rooter three times since 2010, and every time, the service has been fast and professional. I also appreciated the phone call about 30 minutes before my plumber arrived. This particular time, the problem was solved within about 4 hours of my initial phone call.

I have always had good service with Roto-Rooter. The plumber they sent was professional. I asked him to wear booties in the upstairs and had some in his truck. He left his work area clean. He made suggestions on the the color of caulking and did an excellent job. The price is a little high but we were able to negotiate with him. I forgot to use a $50 coupon that is on their site, so don't forget to print it out then you call!

Had a blocked toilet so I called in the morning. Dispatcher called back roughly ten minutes later and said someone was on the way. Ruben showed up and was friendly, courteous and professional. He made sure I knew what he needed to do and why. He had to drain and remove the toilet and use the big motorized snake to get to the blockage. He had to lug that thing and the vacuum up and down stairs - not easy. He got it done and cleaned up afterwards. Very professional and a nice guy. Yeah, $500 gone but I'm glad he got it taken care of.

It went great! The technician was here way earlier than we thought he would be. He was professional, responsive (and helpful) to our questions, got the job done in 5 minutes. Cleaned up after himself. Excellent job!
