It is an old toilet but I was annoyed that another visit was required, and that I was charged the full price both times. I have nothing bad to say about either man, they were both very pleasant, but the policy of the company and the charges were annoying. They also indicated they wouldn't return unless they were coming to put in a new toilet.
Description of Work: They came out to clear a stopped-up toilet. The first time, they sent a man and he spent about 45 minutes and worked on it. It stayed cleared about 42 days before I had to call them again. The charge was $141.26. The second time they came out, the man spent less than 5 minutes of work, he came with a bucket and a small snake. He didn't really clear the pipe because within 3 days it was stopped up again. They did charge me the same amount both times.

They were very nice and very professional. They weren't pushy and helped out a lot. They even told me of an upcoming problem but he told me I didn't have to get it fixed right away.
Description of Work: They roto rootered the kitchen drain and rebuilt the faucet. There were also two parts to the sink they replaced.

Paul S. was our technician and explained the problem and solution clearly and honestly. I appreciated being able to submit a repair request on line and then have someone there the next morning; 12 hours later!
Description of Work: We own a rental home and received a call from our tenant that the tub and toilet were backed up. Roto-Rooter came the next morning and diagnosed the problem and cleaned it out.

Out of the three estimates I received Roto Rooter's was the most reasonable. Brett from the Everett office provided the quote and performed the work. He was professional and great around my animals, 2 dogs and 1 cat. He kept me well informed, explaining the process as he worked. He also explained that he would be recycling as much of the material being removed as possible, which was good to know. The price that was quoted was the price that I paid.
Description of Work: Replaced galvanized pipe in house with aquapex and installed new faucets in shower, kitchen sink and bathroom sink.

I was not happy with them. They did work that I never approved on the sewer vent on the roof and charged me $650 instead of the $150 dollars that we had agreed. I would recommend them to others.

We just had our kitchen remodeled and almost immediately after we moved back into the kitchen, the sink started plugging up. Initially we thought the garbage disposer was faulty or that our kitchen contractor did a lousy job with the plumbing. Turns out that after 7 weeks of non-use (the duration of the remodel job), the pipes had built up sledge and oil and therefore caused the clogged drain. I made the appointment online in the afternoon for someone to come by in the evening. Mike showed up at the designated time, diagnosed the problem and was able to fix the clogged drain within 30 min. He was very polite and seemed to be a very experienced plumber.
Description of Work: Cleaned out the drain lines of our kitchen sink. Removed sledge and oil.

I found out a lot of information and now know where and how to proceed as well as the cost and scope of replacing this side property storm water drain. Meanwhile if I have drainage issues I will know exactly what to do. Our neighborhood has an old combined sewer and storm drain system (that is now illegal to build in new construction) and living on a hillside in Puget Sound, we are all very concerned about potential flood problems. I have had the city involved in monitoring this situation... as others should do likewise. I have been repeatedly told by architects, builders and geoengineers that hecking/cleaning your drain lines periodically is one of the most important things that you can do to maintain your home.
Description of Work: The receptionist did not understand what I wanted so #1 tech came out to "clean a sewer blocked line" which I did not need. They were very prompt, responsive and punctual though. Made another appt and tech came with camera to check my sewer drain line from house interior to the street which is what I asked for. The line was clear and no work needed to be done there. I did want my exterior downspouts and drain lines from the roof checked and cleaned. Turns out that this #2 tech cannot use jet to clean out lines so we had to call AGAIN to have the special water jet #3 tech come to do this. (They don't all carry the same equipment apparently on their trucks.) Anyway this person worked very hard and efficiently and discovered that two drains had problems...one went only about a foot into the ground and the other was tied into the neighbor's line...(we share a line apparently) the neighbor came out and talked us out of checking/cleaning the end of this line because it was too fragile for the water jets. The other lines functioned well after the cleaning and I know their location and sturdiness.

Roto Rooter is all about increasing the sale... selling up and creating more work for themselves. I would never in a million years recommend them.
Description of Work: We needed annual root clean. They came out & told us we needed a much more expensive service - flushing of all the drains. Instead of clearing out the roots - they stopped up our drain - and created a cesspool in our back yard. They have come back out & are now quoting us 6 thousand dollars to repair the drains - (that are now all stopped up because they FLUSHED the drains instead of doing the less expensive root clean!)

Our plumber Mike showed up in the morning to do an estimate and quoted roughly $675 for the repair. I got a second quote from Mr. Rooter and he came in at $800. I chose Roto Rooter because Mike was familiar with our community (Sixty-01) and the way the plumbing worked in our building. He knew the maintenance crew and was able to talk to them on our behalf. He did a great job and was fast, about 1 hour! His estimate was very close and the final price including tax was only $25 more.
Description of Work: The tub drain assembly in our tub failed and water was leaking through an old thread.

In the end, they were able to take care of everything. Explained everything to us.
Description of Work: Supposed to clear a drain. They cleared the drain, but then we found a leak (sometimes old pipes when snaked have this problem - it loosens stuff and then there is a hole in the pipe). This was an old pipe and when it was cleaned out, it exposed the hole, so nothing they did wrong, just because of the age of the pipe, as explained to us by the plumber. They actually came in and replaced that pipe and then the leak was gone.

Bid came back to dig a 6 foot hole, get a permit and fix a couple feet of pipe was over $6,000. I have done enough construction to know that this was WAY overpriced and I felt so gouged I had to call 3 other sewer repair guys for bids, ALL THREE were less than $3K for the exact work, went with a guy who charged me $2400, unbelievable, I think that these emergency Roto Rooter type companies should be held accountable for insane price jacking and I am thinking of reporting them to the BBB. Total rip off.
Description of Work: Had them come out as the basement toilet and shower were not draining. First visit was a 3 hour project, he tried to roto out everything he could, tried all his tools and decided that the pipe was more than likely broken right outside the house and we would need a camera analysis the next day. Meanwhile my 3 renters were without water. Cost of first visit $420. Next day the camera guy drops in, says that yes, indeed the pipe needed to be replaced, it was collapsed and he would give me a bid for the work. Cost of that visit $360.

The tech estimated the job at one hour not 3.5. He removed a small pile of roots which the Roto-rooter representative agrees is likely a small part of what is in the culvert (see photo of pile), but the water was again running through. The tech took off $167 from the original bill, but I and my neighbor were not satisfied. He could have called for a more experienced person or told us that there is an alternative piece of equipment which reams out the pipe much more effectively. A Roto-rooter representative who came out told us this would cost about $400 an hour, but it would do the job on a more long-term basis. This method would be a two-hour job but they promised they would do it for the the one-hour rate even if it took longer, ie $400 more. We are not delighted because if wed been told this at the beginning of the job we could have switched jobs and technicians and it would be done right and longer-term. The tech was less than professional.
Description of Work: The technician, Michael spent 3.5 hours, having been given the job of clearing weeds and debris from a stream culvert approx 12-14 in diameter. He spent 1.5 to 2 hours prowling around the two ends of the culvert without running his machine which I believe was a 4 inch cutting snake. He appeared not to know what to do, didnt bother to put on his boots until suggested by my neighbor, and finally went to the end suggested by my neighbor and ran the machine for 1-1.2 hours.

It went very well. Their technician, Jason (op #45), arrived within an hour of my phone call on a Friday night. He was professional and polite. He was able to clear the clogged kitchen drain in 30 minutes allowing me to only be charged the minimum fee. He also explained that coffee grounds and eggshells were the likely cause of my problem.

They were kind of high, but I guess that was my own fault because I did not check around for prices. I did not feel that the guy was very knowledgeable. He was only here for like 45 minutes and charged me $300. I had someone else working here during the time and even they said that he was so overpriced. Another thing was that he had a broken tool and he had to make his own hook or something. I expected him to have some kind of attachment. He was very nice, but just not very knowledgeable.

James, the serviceman, arrived within an hour of my call. He was personable and informative and worked very fast to accomplish what was needed. He showed me on the statement where the work was guaranteed for six months. I particularly appreciated his keeping me informed of the process and why he needed to take each step when the simple 'unclogging' didn't work. His approach to the job was reassuring and I would be very pleased to use his services again.
Description of Work: Roots in drain. Service man first tried to clear overflowing toilet with a snake, tested sink drainage and assertained that he would need to use power augur to clear drain. This was done efficiently and I was kept informed of each step needed throughout the job. When finished the mess that was made was completely cleaned up.

Sure enough, damage was done as we discovered a slow leak in our basement from the pipe that the technician sent his snake to clean out. He was so aggressive that he pitted the pipe and it leaked thru the wall and flooded our basement which had new carpeting. It took a while to get Roto Rooter to agree to do something about this and admit that they were at fault-they ended up paying for a water damage company to come out and dry the carpeting and they replaced the damaged pipe. However, this could have all been avoided had they hired a competent employee. The carpeting took two weeks to dry with the machines running non-stop. Needless to say, our basement smells moldy now.
Description of Work: Our kitchen drain was slow, so after reading the reviews here on Roto Rooter, I thought they could handle cleaning the drain out. The person who was sent to do the work was very aggressive on the pipes which made me worried that damage was being done. He took over two hours to clean this drain.
