Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I was really pleased with their work. They sent this young man out that turned out to be really good. While he was doing the work, he was right next to the electrical area and there was lots of water all over the place. It was a mess but he was great. This was all on a Sunday afternoon or Sunday night. Then we had him back and he re-plumbed our house. He was good. I liked his punctuality. They got there and it was a Sunday. There was a mess and they had no problem working through all of that. There was water smashing in their face and all their clothes. I would have probably shut it off if I was doing the job. He never got flustered and that was impressive. He wasn’t grumbling or growling. It was just very easy to be around him. He was as calm as he could be and in fact encouraged us. He was really good. I would use his services again in the future.

I called Roto-rooter and a service technician, Ruka, arrived within an hour. He snaked the line out 20 feet, cleared it and made sure everything drained properly. I was very pleased to have the problem solved so quickly. Ruka was a very pleasant man to deal with. I can't say it was inexpensive but my problem was taken care of so quickly I was glad to pay it especially since it was on a weekend.

This wasn't an emergency, but we called in, and had a tech on site within an hour. The tech, Pat, was courteous, professional, and ensured that all worked well before he left.

Arrived when they said they would. Ran main sewer line from basement clean out, cleared blockage at about 95' to 100'. Ran snake twice to make sure obstruction was totally removed. Left work site clean. Technician personable, overall a good job.

I made the appointment online on a Thursday morning and I could have had someone out that same day if I so desired. I scheduled for the next day. They give a two hour window for the service person to arrive. That Friday the dispatch called to let me know the service tech. was on his way. He arrived about 10 minutes after the start of the 2 hour window. Very pleasant gentleman who asked what the problem was and got right to work. He did the washing machine drain line first. Cleaned that to his satisfaction and then went to work on the bath tub drain. He asked me to test the washer to verify his work was successful. I did so and no problems. It's a front load washer and they cycle the water out a lot faster than top loaders so if it doesn't work you know immediately. Service comes with a one year warranty. The only issue I had was the clean up after. He didn't leave a big mess but there was enough left that was noticeable.

Great emergency service. I will definitely use these guys again.

Purchased new condo in Seattle and called RotoRooter to help install a garbage disposal. - because Angie's List showed good reviews. They were very happy to send someone over. I explained that there was no hurry, but they said they had someone in the area who could be by soon. I thought - what the heck -- good for them, good for me. I left work early to go to my condo to meet them. They showed up on time and the proceeded to tell me that for approximately one hour of work they were going to charge me $399.99 In fact, the plumber said he has a lot of experience and he might be able to get it done in less than an hour. Completely insane. I pay corporate attorneys less than that. I can think of very few services that charge this much for their time. The technician said "other plumbers in the area could charge 600 or more" I thought this couldn't possibly be the case and I sent him packing. I called Fischer Plumbing - a big plumbing company here in town and was quoted - $75.00 to come out and $120 per hour with an estimate of - guess what? about one hour of labor. Reasonable. Stay away from Roto Rooter - or at least make sure they disclose how they work up front. I asked him why they didn't tell me up front what it would cost and he said "corporate changed the rules on us, now we're instructed to come out and try to sell the service once we're on site." They really made me feel like a schmuck. I hate being taken advantage of. I'm glad I told them to shove off. Obviously a company with some ethical challenges. Why didn't I ask up front what it would cost? Because I have had all sorts of work done in the past by plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and the like. I know it's expensive, but there's a general ballpark of $150 or so an hour for these trades. In fact, the day before I had an electrician in the condo - one from Angie's list who did almost 3 hours of work for just over $300.00. Very professional and fairly priced.

I called midday on a weekday and they arrived promptly within an hour. The whole job took about an hour and the bill was $260. I asked for a quote when I called, and they said they would provide a quote when they arrive, and to be fair they did, and given that my sewer line was clogged going into the weekend, I didn't have much choice. Perhaps they knew that when they gave me the estimate.

I discovered the sewer was leaking from the ceiling in the garage. I called Roto Rooter: Scott Spencer listed on Angie's list in Everett, WA. Michael was out here in less than an hour. He carefully removed the sopping dry wall and pointed out the hole in the sewer pipe leaving one of the upstairs toilets. He said: "We aren't the cheapest, and we aren't the most expensive. If you have a camera, let's take a picture and then I'll duct tape it and you can get some bids." That is exactly what he did. They were "in the middle" bid - wise. We went with another company due to many other past experiences with that other company, including the lower price. Michael didn't have to suggest taking a picture of the hole or duct taping. He could've just given us a bid and left it for us to figure it out for ourselves. He didn't have to be nice about it, he could have just been matter of fact. Due to the friendliness and professionalism we experienced with this particular RotoRooter business, we will always contact and consider the RotoRooter in Everett for other plumbing projects that come up!

They were fast and efficient and they also cleaned up after themselves.

Not well. I realize that there are unknowns, I really felt that the object was to get as much money out of me as possible. In my estimation, The work performed was in no way worth the price charged. I could have hired laboers to do what rotorooter did (except for the underground camera) for a few hundred dollars. I feel very ripped off by Roto Rooter. UPDATE I received a call from Roto Rooter shortly after this report was submitted.on August 6, 2010. The individual asked questions and said he could not do anything, but I would hear from someone else in Roto Rooter "shortly". As of today 8/18/2010 I have heard nothing!

I was very pleased with the prompt and courteous service. This was not an emergency but we had an appointment we needed to get to in two hours and expressed the urgency. The plumber arrived within an hour. We have had this kitchen line plugged before, but Joe seemed to do a more thorough and knowledgeable job than anyone before. Plumbing always seems expensive but the cost was the same as it was when we had it done 6 or 7 years ago. I would call them again

We liked them because they cleaned it out. We would use them for that type of service again, but I don't know if I would use them for other services they were recommending. It seemed like some of the things were unnecessary and they had no way of seeing if it was actually needed. They arrived within the time window they said they would.

Called regarding a toilet not flushing was there in less than 1 hour as they said, Fred was a great representative for the organization he was polite, did a great job, explain to me what I needed to do so it would happen again altogether good customer service skills and he cleaned everything before he left. Quoted a price for the job and stuck by it. would use them again

It took about 2 hours to get out. It went pretty quick.

They did a good job, I have no complaints. They seemed expensive, but they were here on a Sunday. They are the only ones we called so I couldn't really compare the price.

They seemed to be pretty prompt and he did an okay job. I wasn't totally thrilled because I had to do some of the background work myself.

Their work was good. The technician that came out, showed us that one of the drains, which was completely blocked, had been re-routed under the deck and away from the house, and that it wasn?t helping to get the water away. It was probably causing a lot of water to pool back onto our foundation. He actually came back with pipes and tried to re-direct water. I would rate them highly and would use them in the future, if necessary.

Poorly. Asked them to clean a drain from the downspout to the street. They arrived and after some ineffectual running of a snake down the pipe that they one of the pipes 'broke', they wanted to charge me $400 to fix the pipe they broke. Then they said I needed a camera in addition to figure out the problem. Total charge for just the visit was $314. I got nothing other than a broken pipe and an offer to spend a lot more money. They moved boxes and other things around and did not put them back. Over a year later in early 2011, someone from Rotorooter called saying that the national headquarters had asked him to call about the botched job. He offered a one hour service call free of charge as a fix. That's a drop in bucket and would not begin to cover the damage that they caused, so I passed. This spring I'll have a competent, professional group do a proper repair.

They were pretty good. They knew what they did. I have used them before. I knew the person who had come before but this time he had gone out to another location. The last guy did a thorough job. So it depends on whom you get. I didn’t have the time to shop around so I don’t know the price compared to others. I had used them before and as I called them again they gave me a discounted fee. He was pretty professional.

Contacted another plumber to complete the 15 minute repair.

They normally show up with a big truck and they have the parts, so they don't have to go get them. They charge you $75 for the first hour and they fix everything. They know what they are doing.

The guy that we dealt with was very knowledgeable. We were involved in a lawsuit, and he told us about the faulty pipes. I was able to contact the claim adjuster and get some money from the lawsuit to help fix the plumbing issues. He offered to come out and check periodically to make sure everything was working o.k., and that there were no leaks.

Eventually they cleared everything up but they had to come out several times.

The service was very good. They were polite, punctual, and professional.
