Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Toilet was clogged yesterday afternoon. I had out of town company coming last night. I really didn't think I could get someone to fix the problem at such short notice. They sent Brit #3716. Lucky for me he was just ending a job and arrived 30 minutes later. Brit was very pleasant. He explained prices depending on what was clogging the toilet. He got right to work, wore "slippers" over his shoes. He fixed the problem quickly and cleaned up the mess. Brit was very friendly, polite, cheerful, and professional.Bravo!

Everything fixed in a very rapid response time. Got a senior discount. Professional service. Water line was broken and leaking under bathroom, replaced 3" by 1/2" connection and replaced elbow under the tub cold water supply. Tightened hose bib. $275 an hour, ouch, but done well. Another pipe broke off and had to be replaced, the one that lead to the outside water faucet. That one took more time. Hey, it got done rapidly, efficiently, and professionally. As we all know, water damage can be disaster, so I'm pleased.

They refuse to give minimum cost over the phone and insist on sending someone out for an onsite estimate. So after waiting 2 hours the plumber arrived and said the minimum cost was $275 + $67.50 for a trip to get parts. I would not have wasted my time if they'd just told me the cost over the phone. My pipes had frozen and broke during a freeze a week previous. So this wasn't an emergency. I had told them what type and size pipe they would need when I scheduled the appointment. This wasn't passed on to their plumber and as I suspected, he didn't carry this size of pipe as a standard part. Two years ago I would have fixed this minor break myself, but now that I'm 70, I have trouble doing the stooping/kneeling that's required.

POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ! If you are like myself and awake/work during the night and asleep during the day OR simply have an AFTER HOURS issue be aware of what to expect when you call the local number listed on their website. That number is NOT local. It is routed to a call center in a completely different state. How they can possibly know without calling if there is an available rep (which is what is advertised) I have no idea. This is what is claimed every time I've called however, "there aren't any reps available but we can get someone out there from 8-10am [conveniently normal working hours]). Also know that ANY kind of pricing, even "guesstimates" or ranges won't be answered. The call center is strictly interested, in my opinion, in booking appointments and that is it. When I called tonight I spoke with a rep that was incredibly condescending, refused to answer questions and even had the audacity to respond to a question I asked with, "what does that have to do with scheduling an appointment?" Now I'm sure not all reps are like that or Roto Rooter wouldn't hire them. It was unpleasant for me but I am willing to chock it up to that representative having a bad day as...we all have them, right? UPDATE- after submitting my review to Angie's List I was immediately contacted by multiple Roto Rooter managers wanting to resolve the problem. Ultimately I want to let people know that while everything written above is true, I had superb followup service from the company. Their responsiveness truly gave me the impression they care about their customer's... individually. I might consider using Roto Rooter in the future but since the call center seems to be unwilling to discuss basic pricing over the phone, and I have to take time out of my schedule for the appointment, honestly I just I may hesitate. Just being honest. So bottom line, still waiting for my refund but I am pleased at their followup. Very pleased.

They took advantage of my 95 year old neighbors. Told them it would cost almost $3000.00 to roto root their septic because it was clogged but it came with a warranty. Only a few days later their toilet backed up and they came out and told them the warranty wasn't applicable because it was a new clog. Charged them another 3000.00 to put in new septic lids. They have since hired a plumber who fixed the problem for only $1100. Everyone on the neighborhood knows how they ripped off this old couple. I would never let these people near my property.

OUTSTANDING! The whole experience was truly outstanding from the time of arrival to completion of the job. I was amazed and would highly recommend. The service man was efficient, friendly and very informative to any questions I asked. Was very impressed.

Suctioned out Septic Tanks and Drain Field Collector and Roto Tooled Drain Field Lines.

We called Roto-Rooter around 7 pm after our tenant reported that the sewer had backed up into the tub, toilet and sink. They took all the information and told us they were going to be out between 8 - 10 pm the same night (week-end). Shortly after 8 pm their technician came, asked for the access port (?) and got started clearing the pipe with "a snake". The technician was very professional and worked quickly and efficiently. Whatever had clogged up the system was cleared. All faucets were turned on and toilet flushed and it drained beautifully afterwards. We are very pleased !

It was an old tank that still worked good. Just had to dig to uncover the top everytime it needed pumping. I don't remember the cost but I do recall it was fair/reasonable for the work done.

The first technician came out and said that it would be $900.00 to clear the three drains in the house and that it would be $500.00 dollars per hour (1 hour minimum) to ATTEMPT to clear the outside drain. Authorization was given to clear the house drains. Two days later I get a call from our renters, the bath tub isn't holding water. Technician #2 comes out and fixes that no charge. Three days later I get a call from our renters again, when they do laundry the water is backing up in to the upstairs kitchen sink. Technician #3 comes out and claims that whatever is wrong Roto-Rooter didn't do so I get charged another $200 +. This is the last time I will use roto-rooter. I got a call from the renters a couple of days ago and they are smelling sewage in the back yard. Coincidence? I think not.

They were really knowledgeable; they went out and got the permit right away. They responded very quickly, within about 30 minutes of getting my call. They consulted with the city water service. They were very patient with a very anxious customer.

We had a blocked sewer line issue at our home in Puyallup. When called, Roto-Rooter Lakewood promptly came to the rescue. The technicians were professional, efficient, considerate...awesome. When dealing with sewage overflowing from your toilet onto your hardwood floors... these are the competent professionals you want to call!! We had two service calls. During the first call, Scott, the technician, quickly got the immediate blockage issue resolved. We followed up this service with the camera technicians to ensure/validate that the line was entirely clear and flowing to the city line (this is a highly recommended precautionary measure as you'd never want to experience this issue ever again!). Jose and Chaz were extremely knowledgable helping us communicate/coordinate with the city sewer folks and advising us along the way. Jose also provided us with the water restoration contact that came to our home within 90 minutes to advise us on water damage repairs that need to be done. On the pricing side... all things considered, they were quite fair / reasonable. The plumbing and drain service we received from Roto-Rooter was simply excellent.

Tim Hazekamp was very straight forward with the assessment of the issues with our sewer line and explained step by step the problems discover during the exploration of our line. Overall my experience with Roto Rooter has been good the times that I have used them and have always been available for quick service when others have not.

He came in about 50 mins late and wasn;t his fault. From what I have read is roto rooter has troubled communication with their dispatch. I had confirmed my unit number 3 times, still he did not get the unit number and was driving around our complex for 50 mins. After he came in I let him know: I had shut down water , taken out the cover, and bought all the possible cartridges. This helped me to keep the parts cost out of equation else I would have been taken for ride as parts cost was $80 flat (actual $10) + travelling. All these costs are mandated by Roto Rooter. I also had a $50 coupon from their website. He came in, was impressed with preparation. Told me it will take 5 mins to change but has 1hr min to charge. Did finish it in 5 mins and I turned on the water supply to make sure everything was fine, no leaks. He went back to truck and got his card reader, charged my card and thank me for hiring him for his services. I only wish the hourly charges were lower. Its do ridiculous - ALL CONTRACTOR COMPANIES - You charge high fees, so people hire someone else or try to do it ourselves. If you could reduce charges to $50/hr you could get so many calls you would make far more profit than you do today. Its height of stupidity when you try to charge $200+ /hr and don't get enough jobs so have to keep less guys in service. In return, IT companies charge you hand over fist to pull that money away from you. THINK THINK THINK.

The first visit was by two young men who looked at the faucet and prescribed new washers...but they didn`t have any with them. The second visit was another two men who decided the spigot pipe replacement was 6 inches but they only had a 4 inch pipe. The third visit was one guy who realized they would have to go into the crawl space to fix it and he needed a second guy to help him. On the 4th visit, they couldn`t find the water shut off, cut off copper pipe and replaced it with PEX and inappropriate connectors for this application. Someone in our household who doesn`t usually deal with the maintenance issues handled this and when I called to ask why they put in PEX, the plumber said he decided on his own not to use copper or solder the fix because it was cheaper. We were never consulted on the options. So I called our regular and knowledgeable plumber. In 28 minutes, he took out the PEX, soldered in an appropriate copper pipe fiting, showed me how the connector had already started to pop out, and had been improperly installed with packing plugs still in it. And then he charged me HALF of what RotoRooter charged for their incompetence. I would never recommend this provider for anything. Shame on us for continuing to deal with this provider after the second visit.

Scott arrived at exactly the promised time, provided me with the estimate and proceeded to clear the blockage. He made sure that the snake was clearing the drain pipe toward the sewer line and not auguring to the vent outside the house. He explained the process and progress as he worked. The blockage was cleared and checked in approximately one hour.

They did not do any work and did not charge anything!

They did a great job, dave is awesome.

We have used them several times since moving to Washington last year and they are always courteous,prompt,knowledgeable ad professional and get the job done in an efficient manner without any mess or drama.They also work on weekends which is great in an emergency situation.

I needed to have 1 kitchen faucet, 1 bath vanity faucet, and 1 garbage disposal installed. The old ones were already removed by the guys who installed the new counters, so just the need the new ones put on. They were responsive and courteous when I called, and were able to meet my scheduled. But it was way too expensive, I was quoted $1000 for installing the 3 things above. I am not sure how they calculated that to be $1000, were they really going to charge $500 per hour for the work? Because it was a couple of hours worth of work if not less. I then called Joe the Plumber, who came out and took care of it within two hours for under $300! Such a night and day of difference has me wonder how ethical Roto-Rooter is in charging its customers.

He cleaned the line, brought up little roots that had invaded the pipe. He then put back all the dirt he had excavated, smoothed the ground. He remedied the problem.

This was the worst customer service experience we have experienced. Called on 9/18/13 and made an appointment ahead of time for 5-7pm on 9/19/13. I was home waiting for the plumber to show up when husband said that Roto Rooter called him. He missed a call from them so called Roto Rooter back and because he missed their call they chose to cancel our appointment without even talking to us. Really angry as we didn't give them permission and we told them that and all they said was sorry but we now can't come to your house at that time and instead said we would have to get scheduled from anywhere between 9pm to 12am but that they were really busy so not to expect them until Midnight. This was really insulting to us so we made an appointment with another company. When talking to manager all he said was I heard you cancelled your appointment, did you find another company, and that maybe they could help us out another time. No apology or anything was given.

Roy Carter came out and tried to unclog a plugged toilet. He could not unclog it, even after taking it off the base. He let us get a new toilet and came back the next day to install the new toilet. He is very honest and kind.

The technician was extremely knowledgeable and found the problem quickly. He advised on how to solve the problem in the most inexpensive way. Would call them again.

They did the job, I was surprised at the price, but they did a good job in a timely manner.
