Roberta Zook Managing Broker

It was hard to sell my mom's house. It would have been impossible without Roberta. Roberta and her husband Rod brought in well-chosen items of furniture and decor from their own collection of treasures from over 30+ years each in the real estate business. They arranged them with pieces already in the house, which gave the rooms scale, while all looked harmonious, open and appealing. Hiring a staging company for these services and renting the furniture from them would have cost thousands of dollars. Rod did the photography and text for the advertising leaflets for the house, and also generated the web notices. He advised on pricing and presented us with "comps" - houses sold or on the market in the neighborhood. Both Zooks are well-acquainted with the neighborhood, which is how I originally heard about Roberta. Immediately as the house went on the market, Roberta started hosting open houses, both for other brokers and for the public. She never left that to others from her office, but always took full responsibility. She called us after each one to let us know how they went.(we elected to stay as far away from the events as we could.) As previously mentioned, there were offers, some much lower than our asking price, which we needed to either refuse or respond to in what seemed to me a very short amount of time. We had some counter-offer situations with escalator clauses. I learned a lot about how savvy a good broker must be. She dealt effectively with everyone. She never lost her composure. Roberta was tireless, always lovely, kind, well-dressed and gracious. She kept me stronger when I felt near collapse. When we finally closed on the sale to a family from out of town, she even handled the key transfer at our request and the money for the furniture they had agreed to buy from us. Roberta is priceless, but she deserved much more than the standard percentage.
