We dealt with and quot;Rich's for the Homeand quot; at the Silverdale, WA store. We purchased an AVALON w/Green Start woodstove and a YODER Classic used brick hearth pad. The plan was to have the woodstove installed before the new roof was installed so the roofers could make sure the chimney flashings were properly installed and sealed along with the new roof. Before the install could go forward, the hearth pad needed to be manufactured; that would take about 10 days or so. Based on the hearth pad manufacturing time, we scheduled a date for the install that was two weeks after the purchase. When the installers arrived with the woodstove, hearth pad, and all the necessary accessories, we opened the hearth pad box and found that the USED BRICK hearth pad was totally white washed fake brick, which looked nothing like the picture in the brochure or anything close to the store sample. A new hearth pad was ordered with a request that the whitewash be eliminated or at least significantly toned done, which the manufacturer said he would do what he could to reduce the whitewash. We scheduled another install date three weeks down the road, which now put the install out five weeks after the purchase of the woodstove. With manufacturing delays of the replacement hearth pad and my work schedule, it had been 44 days since we purchased our woodstove package when the installers arrived for the second attempt to install the woodstove. We opened the box to see the new hearth pad and much to our disappointment, the new hearth pad was just as white washed as the first! At this point we still didn’t have our woodstove installed, the new roof install had come and gone, and no woodstove install! AGAIN, we asked the manufacturer of the hearth pad if they could make a hearth pad without any whitewash applied; their response was “you just need to take what we give you”. Since we were told that we had to live with the hearth pads the way they were, and that they wouldn’t “special order” a hearth pad for us, we cancelled the woodstove contract and went elsewhere. I DO NOT recommend Rich's for the Home; they would not do anything to help resolve the hearth pad issue, their comment was and quot;that's the way it comes - take it as is, or order a different style hearth pad!and quot; They wouldn’t even help us look for a different supplier when their current supplier clearly couldn't provide the hearth pad as displayed in their brochure. This was a total waste of our time and I will not use and quot;Rich's for the Homeand quot; for anything.

Purchased new gas heating stove for my home. Troy (salesperson) provided excellent info and recommendations and did everything required to get me the stove I wanted in a timely manner. Rich's has a nice selection of products at their Tukwila store. Would recommend.

We paid for it and it will be installed on Monday. They have a really nice store and they are very knowledgeable about their products. They won't be doing the installation so we are through I guess with them. I thought it was a very good price. We had shopped online but that was the only place we went for a quote.
Description of Work: We used Rich's For The Home to buy a gas insert for a fireplace on the 10th of July. We also got a 2 story chimney kit as well as a remote control and all of that.

The guys who actually came to do the work have been GREAT. The only problem is the length of time it takes to get them. My gas fireplace is the primary heat source in my small home, so the months' long delay with the fan -- over late winter into early summer -- was ludicrous. When the pilot light part broke just a few weeks after the last service, I had to wait a couple of weeks (again, in the cold autumn) to get someone out to determine the correct part, a couple of weeks to get it, and another couple of weeks to get someone out to install it. Dennis, the field service guy, is simply fantastic. He was very, very apologetic for the problem and the delays. There was no charge on the last trip, and just a tiny charge on the trip before. I really felt like he was personally invested in solving my concerns and seeing that I would remain a customer of Rich's.
Description of Work: I bought a gas fireplace insert 3 years earlier from Rich's. The month the warranty expired, the fireplace started to fail. I've had service three times, including for a failed fan. The fan was especially problematic because the service guy ordered the part, but the order was never completed. I called several times to follow up, and was able to negotiate a substantial discount on the part because of that delivery problem. In retrospect, I spent a small fortune (to me) getting this fireplace, and am following all the guidelines for bi-annual cleaning and inspections. It appears that the installation, using the team recommended by Rich's at the time of purchase, was done incorrectly and has led to the problems.

MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS FAIR. THEY HAD A NUMBER OF FIREPLACES TO CHOOSE FROM AND A NUMBER OF THEM ON DISPLAY BUT THE 'SELLING' ATMOSPHERE OF THE SHOWROOM PUT ME OFF. I FOUND WHAT I NEEDED AND WENT FROM THERE.
