,My three year old PC was having display issues (ie and quot;no video signal, monitor is going to sleepand quot;) over a period of a few months. It would eventually come back to life, and I assumed I needed a new video card. A couple weeks ago, the monitor went black again and replacing the video card myself didn't fix it. Took it in to RE PC and was told it would be done in 4 days, as they were backed up from the holidays. 4 days later they called and said it was ready. Paid the $43 diagnostic and $22 for new power supply. Besides being completely satisfied with the service, walking into RE PC was the equivalent of a home owner walking into Lowes for the first time (or Harbor Freight for the do-it-yourself mechanic)! Fantastic warehouse full of used computers and pieces; they're also very green, as the name implies. Big on recycling both PC and Macs. On a side note: my PC was built in 2009, my house built in 1996. Why Angie's List makes my home's age a required field for non-house related reviews is beyond me. I still like Angie, just can't figure her out on this one.
Description of Work: RE PC replaced the power supply, and I'm back in business.

I needed basically 24 hour service as I needed the computer the next door for work I was doing at home. They were able to diagnose and fix the problem. They also pointed out some things that were off with my motherboard, but didn't push sales. They were very informative and clearly knew what they were doing. They were very nice to deal with and I will definitely use them for any computer issues I have in the future.
Description of Work: Removed spyware that was slowing computer performance considerably.

We were not able to get the computer to turn on after a normal shut down procedure. We took the computer in to RE-PC on Friday April 8 2011, and left it for evaluation and repair. They discovered that the power supply part was broken. They replaced the power supply and got the computer working. The counter person said it would be 3-4 working days and they would call when it was done. We called on the 5th day to find out if it was ready. The repair technician said we should have been told 5-6 days and that he had just diagnosed the problem. He called a few hours later to say it was fixed and ready to pick up.
Description of Work: Replaced power supply and got the computer working.

I was impressed by the store, by the service and the staff, especially the repair person and his expertise and integrity. One thing to note, they do not take personal checks. The store has a huge amount of recycled computers and other electronics for sale.
Description of Work: My computer had stopped working and I did not know what the problem was, although the assumption was that my hard drive had died. At RE PC the person behind the counter did a quick check of the hard drive when I first took it in, and there was no response. The person at the counter offered me some used computers they had for sale which were faster than my own computer but I said I would rather get my own computer fixed. I was told that they had a back log of several days so it would take about a week. I was asked to bring in original CD's for installation of programs so they would have them when it was time to work on my computer. I brought them in a couple of days later. Also the person behind the counter gave me a choice of a couple of hard drives to choose from and we selected one to install which would be used if indeed that was the problem. When the work started on my computer I was called a couple of times by the repair person who told me the problem was not the hard drive, but a memory card. That the hard drive needed to be reformatted, and that Windows was corrupted. Also he was planning to back up everything on the computer prior to reformatting but I told him I did not need backup because I have everything backed up on my computer through an online service. I am not super tech savy, and what he said may have been slightly different from the way I have written it but in general that was what was said. The work was done and I picked the computer up and I waited a month before writing this report to make sure things were actually working. So far the computer has been working very well.

I called ahead and was quoted thier minimum diagnostic fee which I thought was fair, brought it in and within minutes had someone opening up my computer to try a few things. Tried a few things and said the next thing to try would be the video card and offered it back to me if I wanted to try that free of charge. Left it with them to finish diagnostics. Found faulty power supply and replaced at a fair price. Both times I went in I always had someone asking if I needed any help within a minute or two and had fast service, A+

Compaq Presario R4000 was slowing down and kept going into battery mode (the screen is darker) even with the power cord plugged in. This was the second power cord I bought and it had worked for some months. I could not charge the thing. I read about many compaq's needing a replacement part or solder repair for this. Do not be dismayed when you walk in to REPC; the place looks like a huge dimly lit computer warehouse / museum. Way in the back behind the repairs sign, are these gremlins working magic with computers. Both the check-in guy (Andreas) and the tech we got (Brad) listened carefully to the problem (s) and wrote up the work order accurately. Brad kept in touch by phone as the work progressed and worked efficiently. He could easily have padded his time for he did so much work, but did not. Our cost for the new cord, memory, labor and expertise would have been less but we chose to pay the $40.00 fee to get in the fast lane. Computer runs great now.
Description of Work: REPC checked computer's hardware and connections, replaced a failed power cord, removed spyware and added memory - all the same day.

It went very well. After the diagnosis they decided there was no hard drive failure. They reconfigured the system so that the computer worked properly.
Description of Work: My desktop was not booting and I didn't know why. I left it to hard drive failure and I brought it to them for diagnostic repair.

Here's on example: The manufacturer of my computer shipped me a replacement motherboard that turned out to be DOA (dead on arrival). Re-PC called them and got them to send another one ASAP, and Re-PC sent the old one back; I didn't have to do a thing. They're always trying to find ways to keep the customer's price down, and as a businessman, I appreciate that! I wasn't surprised when they were voted "best in Seattle" in a local magazine. Sometimes it's hard to get them to take your money; one tech tried hard to teach me how to insert RAM myself, but I insisted on paying him to do it. This same tech found a clever way to move the RAM around among some of my computers to enhance overall business productivity. They also buy (and sell) and recycle old computer equipment. If your business uses computers, you need these guys!
Description of Work: My business uses computers. From time to time, they need repair, and I always take them to Re-PC. These guys are real experts, get the work done right, and at very good prices. I guess I've been going there for at least ten years, all kinds of work, and I've always been 100% satisfied. This business doesn't look like much from the outside; they are all about performance -- no "front" and no BS. They're good communicators; the tech who's doing the work calls you on the phone, keeps you informed, lets you make the decisions.

I dropped my laptop off around 12:30 p.m. and RE/PC said they'd most likely have to send away for a new jack. They expected it to take 7-10 days and would take several hours labor at $85/hour. I got a call from their repair person about 7:00 p.m. that night saying he had been able to fix the jack without replacing it and it was all done and ready to go.
Description of Work: My laptop jack wasn't working- when I plugged the cord in there was no connection so I was unable to charge the battery.
