It was a simple fix, did all the research online, called Lenovo, just did NOT have the time to personally address the issue myself, so I dropped my laptop off at the West Seattle QuidNuc and was informed how simple the repair was and not to worry about my clients information on my HD. Long story short . . . the clerks at QuidNuc lack (at best) the min. skills required to operate in a customer service based environment. Smart-a****, deny responsibility at EVERY turn, not able to meet stated time lines! Worst experience ever! Wiped my hard-drive CLEAN! Contacted the owner who actually was quite helpful, I'd never use them again, but I understand the "owner" had just bought QuidNuc and was working out the kinks. The kinks would be your employees inability to perform simple tasks.
Description of Work: My operating system crashed. Vista OS lock-up during an automatic update, very common problem I guess.

Quidnunc (which was recently purchased by a company called Laptop Fix) used to be my favorite computer repair place. I loved them. They were courteous, had great customer service, performed diagnostics and repair in an efficient and timely manner. So, when my computer recently got infected by a virus, of course Quidnunc was the first place I thought of to help me out. I should have known right off the bat that something was wrong. I stood there for a few minutes until someone came out of the back room, he had a smile on his face but he wasn t looking at me. He seemed a bit startled when he saw me, kept the smile, and said, Oh. Someone will be with you in five seconds, and he walked away. Another few minutes went by and someone else comes in and says, Sorry, you caught me when I was out having a smoke. I had a bad feeling but I went ahead and told him my issue. He said, no problem, it would be two days. I called two days later (a Friday) to inquire. He said it was on the bench right then, it might be ready the next day. I didn t call on Saturday. Waited on Monday for someone to call and they finally called at 6pm to say what the problem was. I called them first thing on Tuesday and approved the repair; they said it would take two hours, should be end of day. I called at the end of the day to find out, Oh, it s on the bench getting worked on right now. I called on Wednesday and was told Oh, it s on the bench right now. I was upset and told them they told me this whole process would only take two days. The person I spoke to curtly said, But you just approved the repair on Monday. However, we were a week into this whole process and it was my understanding that diagnostic and repair would take two days total. So, this person says it was on the bench and would be finished no later than the end of the day. No call. I called first thing in the morning on Thursday and was unbelievably told Oh, it s on the bench right now. I responded by asking to speak to the manager. I was rudely told that I was speaking to her. OK, I explained that every time I called I got the same response. Rudely, she says, Well, you want us to be thorough, right? I didn t get a chance to respond because she hung up on me! I finally got my computer back but I had to physically go to the store and ask for it. I had to wait there for 45 minutes of curse because the computer was still on the bench. I will never go here again. They were unprofessional, rude, and I m just hoping my computer is fixed!
Description of Work: I had a computer virus on my machine that needed ousting.

Quidnunc's parts markup is high, but they did well with a laptop repair earlier. This time they really dropped the ball, though. They asked me to OK purchase of a new power supply. I asked if they tested the components with a different power supply to ensure that was the problem, and they said yes. So I OK'd the purchase. It took 11 days for the new power supply to arrive. When it did, they installed it and discovered the motherboard was dead--which means they had *lied* earlier when they said they had tested it with another power supply. So then the question was whether I wanted them to order a new motherboard (another $300 plus another week). Having been lied to and knowing I could get both the power supply and motherboard significantly cheaper and faster, I paid for the diagnosis and labor to install the new power supply and cut bait. The most annoying thing about the whole misadventure is that I was without my computer for nearly two weeks, then was right back where I started.
Description of Work: After I had replaced some hardware components myself, the computer wouldn't boot. Quidnunc diagnosed the problem as an insufficient power supply, ordered a new supply, and installed it, only to discover that the motherboard was dead. When they called me to advise how to proceed, I stopped the work.

WE ARE QUITE SURPRISED AT THE MEMBER'S DESCRIPTION OF THE TIME. HE BROUGHT US THE COMPUTER ON 6/21. WE CALLED HIM THE SAME DAY WITH OUR RECOMMENDATION ABOUT THE POWER SUPPLY. WE ORDERED IT THAT DAY AND RECEIVED THE NEW POWER SUPPLY ON 6/26 (3 BUSINESS DAYS LATER). WE ADVISED HIM OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE MOTHERBOARD ON 6/27. ON 6/28 HE ELECTED TO NOT PROCEED WITH THE WORK AND PICKED UP HIS COMPUTER ON 6/29, 8 DAYS AFTER HE BROUGHT IT IN. WE RECOMMENDED A VERY BEEFY POWER SUPPLY BECAUSE OF THE SYSTEM COMPONENTS, ESPECIALLY THE VIDEO CARD, THAT WERE LIKELY ADDED AFTER THE ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION. WE HAD INDEED TESTED HIS COMPUTER WITH A DIFFERENT POWER SUPPLY BEFORE CALLING HIM. WE CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT THE MOTHERBOARD WAS FAILING AT THAT POINT BUT WAS STILL FUNCTIONAL. IT APPARENTLY DIED FOR GOOD ONCE WE CONNECTED IT TO THE NEW, MORE POWERFUL POWER SUPPLY. WHILE THE TIMING MAY APPEAR SUSPICIOUSLY COINCIDENTAL, IT IS NOT THAT UNUSUAL. WE CHARGED HIM FOR THE INITIAL DIAGNOSIS AND THE TIME TO INSTALL THE NEW POWER SUPPLY. WE DID NOT CHARGE HIM ANYTHING TO REMOVE IT AND PUT THE COMPUTER BACK TO THE CONDITION IT WAS IN WHEN WE FIRST GOT IT.

THE LAPTOP WAS OLD SO FINDING A PART WAS DIFFICULT. THEY WERE ABLE TO LOCATE A PART IMMEDIATELY IN TEXAS AND HAD IT SHIPPED UP IN 2 DAYS AND THE REPAIR WAS DONE THE NEXT DAY. THE LAPTOP HAS BEEN WORKING GREAT EVER SINCE.
Description of Work: HAD A BEER SPILLED ON KEYBOARD OF LAPTOP. THE KEYBOARD WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL ON THIS OLD LAPTOP. REPLACED KEYBOARD AND MADE SURE EVERYTHING WAS WORKING ON MOTHER BOARD.

QUIDNUNC IS AWESOME. THE CHARGE $35 FOR DIAGNOSTIC, THEN CALL TO GIVE ESTIMATE ON FURTHER WORK. THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN WITHIN THE ESTIMATE AND IF THEY DID SOMETHING THAT THEY HADN'T CLEARED WITH ME, THEY DIDN'T CHARGE. THE WORK WAS HIGH QUALITY. CUSTOMER SERVICE EXCELLENT.
Description of Work: QUIDNUNC HAS REPAIRED MY COMPUTER 2 TIMES IN THE LAST SIX MONTHS AFTER THE SYSTEM COMPLETELY CRASHED.

ALL THE PEOPLE AT QUIDNUNC ARE EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT COMPUTERS. THEY ARE FRIENDLY, FAIRLY COMPETITIVELY PRICED FOR WHAT THEY OFFER, ALTHOUGH BEING A SMALL SHOP THEY CANNOT COMPETE IN PRICE WITH ALL THE BIG CHAINS. BUT THEY MORE THAN MAKE UP FOR IT BY ALMOST ALWAYS HAVING WHAT I NEED IN A PINCH AND ALWAYS BEING THERE TO TALK TO FOR COMPUTER HELP AND TIPS (WHICH IS WORTH GOLD!) A VERY WONDERFUL PLACE TO DO BUSINESS.
Description of Work: QUIDNUNC BUILT A PC PER SPEC FOR ME AND IT HAS BEEN A GREAT RUNNING COMPUTER. I'VE ALSO USED THEM FOR VARIOUS HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE PURCHASES, INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND GENERAL TECHNICAL ADVICE.

I HAVE HAD THEM RESCUE TWO HARD DRIVE CRASHES IN THE PAST, SAVED EVERYTHING! THEY HAVE COME TO OUR HOUSE NOW SEVERAL TIMES AND ALWAYS COURTEOUS AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. WE SEND PEOPLE THERE ALL THE TIME. THEY TEND TO GIVE WAY MORE IN HOURS THAN THEY BILL. THEY LIKE CHALLENGES AND WE SEEM TO PROVIDE THEM.
Description of Work: QUIDNUNC HAD INSTALLED A NETWORK FOR OUR THREE COMPUTERS IN THE PAST, KIDS GOING ONLINE HAD 'ACCIDENTALLY' INSTALLED MANY UNWANTED EXTRAS, SO QUIDNUNC CAME IN AND CLEANED UP THE SYSTEM, GOT IT WORKING FAST AGAIN AND ADDED A NEW COMPUTER TO THE SET UP.
