The paint job looks great and I believe it will last:  they did good prep work ensuring the old loose paint was thoroughly removed, surface cleaned, bare wood primed and gaps caulked.  They were very responsive to any questions or concerns that I had.  I will consider using them for interior painting as well.

Paid up front for two rooms of walls through Big Deal. By adding on ceilings and a long hallway the price increased quite a bit and I felt like I had lost comparative bargaining power. The guys were good painters! The owner did the bid and told me how many gallons of paint to buy at 2 coats each. The painters covered the ceiling with one coat and I had 5 gallons a of premium paint left over. Not so good there. All over a B because of the pricing and the extra paint. Further contracts should include a competitive bid process first.
Response from Queen Anne Painting
"Hi. I'm Doug, the company owner. [member name removed] and I haven't met. It was actually our former project manager Jay who gave the quote. I'm not sure how we could have ended up with 5 gallons of leftover ceiling paint. He only recommended purchasing 5 in his written contract for the job. Perhaps the overall amount of leftover paint was 5 gallons. Three separate colors were used according to our records. It's not uncommon to have a gallon of each color leftover. Additionally, painters know that all cans of any individual color should be mixed together to form one batch before painting. Failure to do so, or having to purchase an additional gallon to finish a job, often result in patches or portions of the job that don't properly blend, or touch-up paint that isn't the same color. Consequently, we try to err on the side of having too much rather than too little paint. In this case it sounds like Jay may have been a bit too conservative, which is too bad. But, everyone makes mistakes and if you must make one with paint you're much better off ending up with a little left over!"

It went great. We had several contractors in to do some work after we bought our house but before we moved in and these guys were the most on top of things. They were punctual and professional. The painters were nice guys. They took good care to protect our newly-refinished floors. The quality of the work was fabulous. The office staff was on top of things confirming appointments and making reminder calls. Once we remodel our basement, we will for sure have them paint it.

We  relearned that no construction is without glitches.   We were pleased with their practical and creative resolution of these inevitable problems.  The lead carpenter is unflappable and handles problems well.  And the owner was very helpful with color ideas and some design ideas we incorporated.   And finally, we took advantage of their winter rates helping us control costs.
The overall project exceeded our expectations and friends tell us our remodel should be featured in a magazine.  We kept the character of the vintage of our home, yet updated it's look and feel.  We would recommend Queen Anne without reservations.

After receiving three different bids from Angie's List contractors, QAP came in about the middle of the pricing scope. It was after spending time with Doug Wold (owner) and Brian Nelson (carpenter) in understanding the bid that we felt comfortable with moving forward with QAP. We spent time evaluating the overall project, the team's skill, great suggestions on additions/subtractions based off past experience and the amount of time it would take to complete a project of this magnitude (not having a shower for awhile is a pain!).

While we had some setbacks on timing due to lead-time required to receive the new bathroom fixtures, Brian was great in continuing to complete small jobs to keep the project moving and on-schedule. Daily reports from him on progress were helpful in understanding what we were getting accomplished. The quality of the tile installation and finish work was top-notch and we are happy with the new look of our bathroom.

A little higher than the initial bid (our fault), but overall Doug was on-point with his estimates. A clean and livable job-site was also a big bonus. Overall we are very pleased with the work performed and the service from QAP and will be sure to use them on the variety of remodel projects we have remaining on our house!

We had a lot of wallpaper to remove as well as walls all in a black/gray faux painting.  Queen Anne's estimate was not the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive (we got 4 bids), and very well laid out as to what they were proposing to do, what products they would be using, etc.  We visited one of their listed references to look at their work and talk to the customer, and got an excellent reference on them.
Coming in to do the work, they were super careful to protect everything, prep all the surfaces and do small repairs (some of which they charged extra for, but were very reasonable), spending a great deal of time in prep.  They painted everything in our 2500 SF Condo, including a third of the trim.  We used a lot of color changes in rooms, and all was done with great care to have straight lines between color changes.  All in All, a great finished job.  Would use them again in a heart beat!!

Our experience has been 100% positive. The work is good and they are on time. The estimates are clear and the billing is good. Every aspect has been good. This is our second go around with them. They are skilled. The person who came to visit us before the work started was thorough. They are absolutely on time and completely punctual. They are very thoughtful and very efficient. The work is excellent. They gave us an Angie's List discount. We would absolutely use them again.

The initial proposal and process to get this started was awesome. They were very detailed compared to the other company we got an estimate from. They really took the time to understand all the work, as it was extensive and complicated. Although they were great to work with - very responsive to issues and timely on the work, we also had some problems.
Most notably, they took off all our interior doors and painted them (not scoped to do that in the estimate; they painters just did it). However, when they rehung them, none of them fit anymore. Every single door in that house worked prior, and after painting and rehanging they required extensive wood work and rehanging to get to fit. The company split the price with us of that additional work, but it should never have been needed.
Secondly, the company agreed to built base shoes (quarter rounds) for one room that didn't have any and needed them, but when the project was done, they had not done this. They left wood for us to do it, but didn't size it or paint it, which was agreed upon. Again, when called, the company came out and fixed it immediately - on them this time, so response was great but execution forgot some steps.
Thirdly, we have a sticky front Security door. They "fixed the sticking lock" for us, and what we found was it was only half screwed on. We fixed ourselves.
Fourth, we had a whole patch put in a wall that fell out immediately. They redid it responsively, but it fell out again later and we just gave up.
Fifth, we had possessions in the house just for doing work - numbers for the apt number, some tools, some light bulbs, that all went missing. While I'm sure this was not intentional, as there was ton of materials of theirs as well as ours, we had to re-buy a few missing items and lost items of no value to anyone except us, except for a nice screwdriver that went missing.
All in all, while they were very easy to work with and talk to and seemed responsive, we had some problems that were concerning. Given the size of the project (fixing up woodwork and repainting an entire 2-bedroom condo with outside work too), I can forgive missing some small details.
Overall, I would recommend checking them out, but be sure to have written in your estimate every single detail so if things are screwed up or forgotten, you have coverage. They were very helpful and responsive with every issue, I'm just not thrilled with the overall experience. Nice paint job though. the issues were with the other items listed above.

Doug Wold, the president of the company, did the estimate and said it would include -
-repairing minor dents and cracks in the plaster walls
-planing of doors so the paint wouldn't stick
-coordination of when each room would be painted so we could move things between rooms and so we could still live in the house while it was being painted
-daily cleanup
The coordination was minimal. They did all of the trim and door painting on the main floor at one time. so we did not have a chance to move things to other rooms that were not being painted yet.
They did the minimum amount of wall repair they could.
In one room they skipped some of the trim painting.
There was dust and debris from the drywall repair that was not cleaned up at the end of the day.
We had to ask them to return several times to finish wall repairs and to plane the doors when they stuck. They do so willingly but after five or six returns we heard comments implying that we were too picky.
The painting was generally somewhat sloppy, with paint dripped on carpet and light fixtures.
The drywall finishing does look professional.
Overall, we feel we paid a premium price but got average to below-average work.

These guys are great. Queen Anne remodeled/rebuilt my house and I could not have asked for better service. I work a full-time job and I did not have the time or energy to manage sub contractors, accommodate missed appointments or constantly check to see if Queen Anne was meeting their commitment. That being said I dropped by a LOT and Brian, Collin and the crew were always ready and willing to explain what was going on. If an unexpected complication occurred and it was major, Doug the owner called me and walked me through several options. If the complication was minor, they just fixed it and kept on going. Essentially, they rebuilt my entire house. Unfortunately, I had very little insulation and suspect flooring and poor electrical wiring. I grew up working class so I know how to fix things and I have seen more than a few houses under construction. These guys are high quality, honest craftsmen and I would recommend them to anyone. I especially recommend them to other working women like myself. Everyday they cleaned the work area, everyday they showed up 15 - 20 minutes early and quietly waited until the start time, I always felt safe with them in my house whether I was stopping by or not. Added bonus, my neighbors commented on a regular basis about the politeness of the workers. My only grip is the architect they recommended. Do your homework and find your own architect. Doug the owner made me feel like I was the only customer of this very busy company. Don't be fooled by the name, they paint and do high quality home repairs and remodeling.

Queen Anne Painting returned my first call the same day and set up a meeting early the next week for the project. They asked good questions during the review and sent their estimate options to us within the timeframe they promised. We decided to use them because of their reputation and we felt their price was reasonable. Everyone we came in contact with at the company from the estimator to the office support to the team that came out to do the work for extremely professional and easy to work with. The project was scheduled within a month of our initial meeting. The painters worked tirelessly and cleaned up at the end of each day. They were very thorough and it was obvious we were getting good value for our money. The end result was beautiful and just what we were looking for. We were concerned that our project may be too small for a company their size but they always treated us like valued customers. We highly recommend them for any project you are considering.

Wipliance installed rear speakers in my condominium, a job which required five small holes to be cut in the walls and ceiling. The technician who did the installation recommended Queen Anne Painting.
I received a thorough and reasonable oral estimate from a representative who came out in August. He noted that Queen Anne Painting mostly does outdoor work in the dry summer months and said it would be most likely October before they could do the work I needed. I was fine with this. The only thing uncertain was whether my stock of spare paint would be enough to repaint the walls. The company promised to send me a written estimate by e-mail, but never did; my representative noticed this when I called to schedule the work and promised to fix the situation, but the only written record I have of my estimate came on the day the repairman showed up.
Armando, who did both the drywall repair and the painting, was punctual and very professional. He was very neat and cleaned up thoroughly. There was a minor glitch in the scheduling: he came on a Wednesday and told me he'd return the following day to paint, but the scheduler never mentioned the second day when setting up the appointment. Fortunately, I only needed to make one phone call to move that painting day out to Friday. Armando checked my paint supply on the first visit and concluded he'd need to bring more.
In the end, Armando needed about 10 hours to complete the job, two sessions of 5 hours each. The walls and ceiling look as good as new: you'd never know that holes had ever been cut. I would definitely recommend them for another job.

QA was called in after another painting company we hired  was doing questionable work- very sloppy, put the wrong color up on the wall etc.  QA employees were prompt, professional and did excellent work.  We were very happy with the end product.  Their price was much higher but I believe in this case you get what you pay for.

Carlos the painter did great work. Very neat and professional. He left the job site in great shape. With a two-tone color scheme to work with, he handled all the meeting points crisply with no spatter or mess. Really good work and worth the money.

We received the estimate from Cory, a very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful employee who has been with the company for years.  He came to our home on several occasions to be certain the project was well planned and preparations complete - spending additional time with us to match the new deck stain with our door.   Since there was no product on the market to meet this requirement he worked with Armando, our painter, to blend it perfectly.

We were extremely impressed with the diligence and perfectionism of Armando.  He obviously took pride in his work  patent, consciousness, and thorough worker l

I highly recommend them. I just thought that Queen Anne Painting was on time and they stayed late if needed. We had some rain because we live in the Pacific Northwest, so the job was delayed a little bit and they were able to give me extra guys to get the job done in a timely manner.

This is the second time we have used Queen Anne Painting.  Doug came out promptly to give a bid for washing and staining a fence and deck.  Their bid was less than 2 other bids.  As the deck was still under construction, they were completely flexible with scheduling around some tight windows with the landscapers.  They did a great job, but moreover they came out to do very detailed clean up work including touching up our house paint surrounding the deck.

We just purchased this 1925 home in queen anne and obtained three bids.  One bid was double queen anne and the other was in the same approximate amount.  Doug walked through the home and made his notes as we had other contractors assessing other repairs as well.  Doug provided a reasonable estimate and as we discussed the estimate, I realized there several carpentry related items that needed attention as well.  Doug was able to incorporate these items into the bid as well as providing great suggestions on items throughout the house which needed some TLC.  The work performed was great.  Ken showed up on time and always cleaned up before leaving.  Ken was very meticulous in painting and overall was very pleased with the outcome.

Cory showed up on time for the estimate. The estimate was about 20% higher than the other two companies, also A rated on Angie's List, that bid. I picked Queen Anne because they had imediate availability. Glad I did. Carlos the painter did terrific work, was on time, and went above and beyond my expectaions. I knew what was being done and when. Everything was ontime and the work area was left clean and looking good. I guess you get what you pay for.
