I can't say enough about Queen Anne Painting! Finding the right company to paint my new 15 colonial-style double-hung wood-clad windows and door (we're talking painstaking detail and a TON of masking) was a really frustrating process. Some companies simply failed to show, some suggested spray painting my interior windows, one even suggested I shouldn't paint parts of the bare-wood windows since the paint would make them too thick to close (oh - and I shouldn't worry about them getting ruined by rain) -- not surprisingly, my trust levels were at a low point. And then along came Doug Wold, the owner of Queen Anne Painting, who had come highly recommended from a friend who has used them multiple times (plus, they're top-ranked on Angie's list and Yelp). Bottom line, after spending about 30 minutes with Doug, I relaxed completely and knew I could trust him and his team to do the work. They cost a bit more, but the quality of their work product, their attention to detail, their customer service, the daily written updates they provided before leaving every day, their cleanliness, and my 100% satisfaction (and I'm a stickler for details and really, really picky) were well worth a few more dollars. Their work also confirmed my decision not to have my new wood windows factory painted - you just can't beat hand-painted products. My windows, house an deck look FABULOUS. I'll definitely be using them again!
Description of Work: 15 bare wood-clad colonial-style double-hung windows and a door, portico, portions of the exterior, interior wall, deck, other miscellaneous items.

The appointment for my estimate was made three months out because they said they were busy. Ok, fine. A month before the appointment they called and asked if I wanted to cancel because they were busy and I said no. They warned me that even though it was summer (June) they might not be able to actually do the work until the fall, around September. I still wanted to go ahead because I live in a 100 yr old building and I heard they're one of the best for older homes. The guy came out and didn't say much, then he sent me an email with a quote for $20,000. Yes that's right, TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS. For a 650 square foot one-bedroom condo. They broke it down for me: having the trim stripped and refinished was $10,000. Painting the walls was another $10,000. I emailed back a little incredulous but politely asked if they could break down the $10,000 for painting into labor/materials because I thought it must have been a mistake but they never responded to my email or returned my phone call. What a waste of my time. If they didn't want the job they could have just said they weren't accepting new clients. They knew how big my place was before they came out so if they didn't want to spend their time on a small job they could have just said it was too small of a job. I know based on other Angie's list reviews that this dollar amount was way higher than what they actually charge, this was completely ridiculous and unprofessional to waste my time like that.

Overall, the project was a great success. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. It is clear their employees take pride in their work. The owner of the company performed the initial estimate and served as project manager, and he and his staff were responsive to our questions and directions as the project went on. We were amazed at the level of attentiveness paid during the prep work, both in terms of masking and protecting the house and in preparing the surfaces to be painted (filling holes that had obviously been there since trim was installed, meticulously covering floors, hinges, etc.). We received a detailed written update every day describing what work was performed, what is scheduled for the next day, and any questions requiring our attention. All of the crew members we interacted with were punctual, diligent, friendly, and knowledgable. This is not to say there were no snags at all--we did have an incident of miscommunication (different ideas of which rooms counted as "closets") that resulted in one door we wanted replaced not getting ordered in time for our move-in. That was unfortunate, but we understand that it was a legitimate miscommunication. And it also bears saying that this is not a company that is offering bargain-basement rates. There are almost certainly companies that will quote lower (possibly considerably lower) rates for jobs, and this gave us some pause at the beginning. Having seen the project through, I am confident we made the right choice. We trusted Queen Anne Painting to turn the house we bought into what we knew it could become, and they delivered. We are already thinking about the next project they can do for us (exterior painting) and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who appreciates quality products and techniques.
Description of Work: We had Queen Anne Painting repaint most of the interior of our new house prior to moving in (walls, ceiling, trim on two floors), as well as perform some carpentry work (including repairs of rotting trim, replacing mismatched baseboards and moulding, and hanging new doors).

Our exterior and interior painting was great, thanks to Alex and those who worked with him. Alex always kept me informed about each step. They were meticulous and careful, and always arrived on time, working hard all day, and cleaned up the areas at the end of the day. This company, however, is expensive, and not for the bargain hunter looking for a deal.
Description of Work: Queen Anne Painting patched some dings, re-painted (sprayed) some of our doors and wainscot, plus some crown moulding and baseboards. They also painted our kitchen, hallway and three of our bedrooms. Then they painted the exterior of the house.

Simon, Alex and the office staff were very pleasant to work with. I would rate Alex's drywall work a 5 star, it was excellent. We were extremely pleased with his work, his professionalism and he was always on time. I gave the company two B grades for the following reasons: First, their bid was much higher than other bids; however, I was willing to pay more for excellent work. After negotiating with Simon, we agreed on an hourly rate plus materials, not to exceed the amount of the bid. The final bill was not much higher than other bids and the work was outstanding. Second there was a mix up on our scheduled starting date with Simon, which because of changes we had to make in our schedule, caused some inconvenience.

I finally had to call them to see what happened. They dropped the ball. They finally did come but the bid was so ridiculous - forget it. They have really bad customer service. It was a month later after they said they were going to show. Then after they showed they didn't give me a bid. I waited & waited and finally I emailed them. It was about 4 weeks later before I got a bid from them and then the bid was ridiculous. I'm not really very happy with the service. It took for me to follow up with them several weeks later for them to give me a bid. I had very little to do with them after that. I even emailed them after the bid and they never even emailed me back. They are just not a very effective company. It's disappointing. It was really ridiculous for one room painting and a little bit of drywall. They did show up on time on the day that they said they would.

Queen Anne Painting repaired dry rot found in several spots on the south, weather-facing front of my house. Everything from initial inspection, rough cost estimating to repair work was professionally executed. They corrected the crappy, amateur repair attempted by a handyman service that I fired after one day. Pine was replaced with cedar, and painted to match existing colors. The window sill, column caps and wraps are now more resistant to water intrusion, look better than before while totally blending in. Trust them for excellent work.

We had Queen Anne Painting install new windows (12) on our houseboat. They were very professional, competent, courteous and on time. Hector and his crew did a terrific job. Our project needed to be coordinated with our haul out (the house boat needed to be on land for painting) and our painting schedule. We are very happy with the results and will gladly use the services of Queen Anne Painting for any future projects.

As new home owners, hiring painters was a daunting task and after researching providers, we contacted several providers. Some showed up but never got back with an estimate, others simply ignored the request and a few provided an estimate but it seemed cursory. From the moment, Doug Wold, the company's owner, arrived to provide an estimate, we knew this was a professional outfit we could trust. Not only did Doug walk us through the process, he also offered some badly needed advice. Though the quote we got was far and away the most expensive (hence the C), it was Doug's demeanor and evident expertise that gave us the confidence to choose Queen Anne Painters. And we were not disappointed at all. They were able to schedule us quite quickly which was a bonus. After we sent our color choice, Doug contacted us again to steer us towards a color that I had previously described to him during our initial chat. He was very clear that it was ultimately our choice, but since he had a fair idea of what we wanted to achieve, he wanted to make sure we weren't disappointed in the final result. He even came over again to walk us through the color palette and choices. On the day the work commenced, Amando showed up on time and ready to go. Unfortunately, his partner was ill and so he had to work alone most of the time, but to the company's credit, three other painters showed up to help him when they could. At the end of the project, Amando also helped us to dispose off some old paint cans which was a bonus. The project was completed on time and the quality of work is excellent. Every interaction with this Queen Anne Painters has been professional and courteous. We are very satisfied and would hire them again without hesitation.

The results of this job far exceeded our expectations. The quality was excellent – and we are quite particular. Doug, the owner and estimator, is thorough, knowledgeable, and cordial. Howie and Victor, the painters, were very careful in prepping and cleaning up. The crew was professional, friendly, considerate, and very skilled. The surface quality of the finished work is flawless. The business office staff is organized and responsive. All in all, a very positive experience. We highly recommend this company.

Fabulous experience from beginning to end. Doug was helpful in determining colors and what walls to paint. We ended up not painting our upstairs bedrooms and bonus room that we never use. Instead of trying to convince us to do more than we wanted to do, he listened to us and advised us on what was best for our needs. His team of Howie and Orlando was punctual, polite and friendly, very helpful with moving things around, and really neat and tidy. It is a huge disruption to paint the entire upstairs and downstairs of a house and they made it as easy as possible. We were only unable to use our kitchen for 2 nights and our bedroom for one. They gave us a detailed list each day of what they accomplished and what they planned next. We were thrilled with the quality of the work and the final result. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a first class job.

We have used Queen Anne Painting several times in the last 15 years and the work is always five star caliber. Each paint job is beautifully done with great attention to detail. The painters are always prompt, polite and thoroughly professional. They kept us informed every step of the way. They are very easy to have working in your home while you are living there as well. Work areas are clean and tidy and at the close of the day everything is put out of the way as much as possible. I can't say enough good things about this business.

They were easy to work with, very professional, detail oriented and did a complete job! I am very pleased with the color choice we came up with (with their help). They were here on time each day and kept me very well informed of the progress. Minor problems were immediately corrected. I wouldn't hesitate to use their services again. (In fact my bedroom will soon be done.) Their cost may be a little higher, but they are willing to work to meet your needs (even the unique ones) and do a quality job. If you are looking for a complete, well-done job I highly recommend using their services.

Excellent work. We were sooo impressed by the quality of work by Jon Pitts-Campbell and his co-workers. They were amazingly meticulous and professional in every way. I tend to inspect projects very closely and this is one that I just didn?t find anything that I thought could have been done any better. The quality seems to start at the top with Doug, the owner, who met with us and provided our proposal. Doug was great to work with from beginning to end, as was Stephanie, his office assistant. Crew members used plastic sheeting/tarps to carefully protect work areas, always cleaned up before leaving each day, and provided daily written reports of work preformed each day and what was to be worked on the next day. I found that very helpful. Communications were excellent throughout the project and we had a mid-project walkthrough to review everything. A Porta-Potty was at the site for the duration. I was impressed with the crew's attention to safety, which included wearing safety harnesses while on our roof and dust masks while sanding. We could not have been more pleased with this project.

Queen Anne Painting was one of three companies I had bid to paint the upper level of my home. Doug came out to the house in June and performed a detailed and thoughtful walk through of the project with me. In addition to changing the wall color, we discussed many detail aspects to the project, such as: new window trim that had been installed that would need special prepping before finish painting, various plaster cracks that I wanted filled & smoothed and adjusting the height of a bedroom door to accommodate new carpet. I appreciated his time and expertise in finding the right solutions to all of my requests. I promptly received his written detailed proposal. Based on the experience with Doug, and his company's reputation, I selected Queen Anne Painting to do the work. His price was actually the highest of the three quotes I received, but was also the most detailed. I felt comfortable trusting the project to Doug and his team. I took advantage of a seasonal discount offer and delayed the start of work until after Nov 1st. My project was scheduled to start the first week of Nov. 2014. In Oct, I contacted Doug about some additional items I hoped to add to the project. He came back out to provide me with the quote for the additions and gave me an itemized quote so that I could easily pick and choose based on cost. There was a bit of reshuffling towards the end of Oct 2014 with my project's start time. Due to the unseasonably good fall weather, the company was still wrapping up exterior projects. However, Doug and his team were accommodating in my request to ensure that the work would be complete well before my company arrived for the Thanksgiving holiday (thank you Margarita!). The team assigned to my project arrived promptly on the agreed upon start date. The team lead -- Jarrod -- and I conducted a brief recap walk through of the overall project to confirm understanding. Then he and his team set about prepping for the job. Great care was taken in this step to protect my hardwood floors, furniture, new carpet, window coverings, kitchen appliances, etc. I knew when I came home from work after the first day that I had selected the right company for this project. Overall, the project took 6 days with a two-man team. At the end of each day, I was given a brief written progress report on what was accomplished by the team that day as well as what would be done the following day. Jarrod and Dmitriy were thoughtful about cleaning up as much as possible at the end of each work day. My Mom had been doing some yard work and had a bad fall outside on the last day of the project. I am so thankful that Jarrod and Dmitriy were there and kept cool heads while making sure that my Mom got the medical attention she needed. By the time I arrived home, the house was completely clean and reset back the way I had it before the project started. My review comes late, but I am so pleased with how everything turned out. The attention to detail really shows -- I will use Queen Anne Painting again in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking for top quality and customer service.
