Description of Work: They installed solar system. They have helped with solar incentives. We have a system that is estimated to pay for itself in 4 years. They have followed up with a online monitoring system. A very responsive company. It is great to be green!

Description of Work: I wanted to get an estimate of the cost of solar energy installation at a new 4800 sq. ft. building at my church. We have a year before we actually will build the new building and we are considering solar. The estimate(he gave me three options) seemed quite reasonable and he provided very important information which will help us consider solar for our project at the church

The process described above went very well. Puget Sound Solar was punctual in meeting their appointment schedule for the initial rooftop analysis, provided their written report on schedule, and answered our questions by phone fully. There was a time delay while we arranged financing elsewhere, but when we called back they scheduled our installation in a reasonable time, and met that schedule. The day of installation start, they arrived on time and proceeded without any problems. They needed access to our attic to run conduit from the South side of the house to the North side, and they did that leaving everything clean afterwards. They also needed access to our garage to tie in the new system to our existing breaker panel, and again they did that leaving everything clean and well-labelled. They had arranged for a City electrical inspection on the second day. It was thorough, and resulted with no changes required and immediate sign-off. During the installation they always answered my questions with knowledgeable and clear answers. Upon completion, their project manager did a thorough walk-thru, explaining the readouts available on the inverter, and explaining and demonstrating the various disconnect switches and circuit breakers in the system. He explained that the system was up and running, but City Light would have to install new meters before we would receive credit for electricity generated. He explained that I should keep track, from the Inverter readouts, of the electricity generated prior to the installation of the new meters. I did, and when City Light sent me the forms to apply for credit, there indeed was a place to enter what had been generated before the new meters were installed. The project manager did another follow-up visit about a week after installation, once again answering any questions and providing information and instruction where needed. He also checked the inverter to be sure production was as expected for the intervening time period. When we applied for the Washington Renewable Energy Production Incentive program, the State responded that our Inverter was no longer eligible for "made in Washington" consideration. Susan Burton of Puget Sound Solar, at no additional cost to us, provided both us and the State with additional documentation, several times, that ultimately convinced them that the Inverter indeed did qualify. Since installation, the system has worked very well and has produced as well or better than predicted. During an extended summer vacation trip, the system generated enough power that our last two City Light bills have been a net $0 because the system had generated more electricity than we used, leaving a surplus in our City Light account. We are very pleased with the system performance, and with the support provided by Puget Sound Solar in the whole process of designing, installing, and follow on support as needed.
Description of Work: We were part of the "Solarize Magnolia" program. That program had, through a non-profit, obtained bids and contracted with Puget Sound Solar, LLC, to analyze your house, provide options on several solar panel suppliers and configurations, and install what the owner chose. Because they had no individual marketing costs, Puget Sound Solar costs to the homeowner were lower. Puget Sound Solar did the rooftop analysis of annual sunlight, provided detailed descriptions, provided three different suggested configurations and costs, power generation estimates, government subsidies, and net cost results. We then made our choice, and Puget Sound Solar did the design of the system and its installation, on time and with no change orders or other increases in cost. After the installation, they provided onsite instruction on how the system works as well as full documentation of the components. They answered all questions fully.

It has been 7 years since they installed our solar hot water system. The design, workmanship, and installation were all excellent. At the time, they scored some used but like-new components and passed the savings on to us. I can say now after many years of experience with this company that Jeremy, Pamela, and the crew at Puget Sound Solar have stood behind their work 100%. They have even checked in with us periodically to see how everything is going. They happily provided system maintenance whenever needed--although service required has been minimal. This is a first-class operation and I'm confident they know their stuff at least as well as other solar contractors around--they certainly have the years in now. They seem deeply committed to sustainability values, renewable energy, green building, and saving the world for future generations!

This company had installed a solar water heater system before. I was impressed by the quality of their work and their professionalism so I called them to give me different options on installing a photovoltaic system on our roof. After a number of back-and-forths on email, I settled on the option I wanted. They scheduled the installation. They came as they promised. The installation process took a bit longer that they anticipated because of inclement weather. They walked me through the application process of applying to get on the grid and to get into the alternative power incentives available. They also walked the city inspector through the inspection (we passed!). Once again, the installation was very clean, as I had expected from my experience with them installing the solar water system. If you want a company staffed and owned by people who truly believe in what they are doing, this is the company to use. They have been in the business before alternative energy became more mainstream.

Just got an estimate from them.
Description of Work: PSS didn't win the bid on my project, but it was other factors, like distance from my home and number of referrals that I based my decision on. The winner on the contract was Brother's Electric and Solar, but if I had lived closer to Seattle the job could have been theirs. If you need a solar install in Seattle please give them a call.

We are extremely pleased by this entire project. Reading the other two postings on Angie's List, we are a bit surprised by their low ranking, but notice neither one actually had any real work done. We suspect that others might be turned off by the relatively informal manner in which Jeremy and Pam (the owners) approach this business. It is a family business and you can tell by their pricing that they aren't in this racket to make a killing. However, we chose them because they have installed over 100 of these grid-tied systems in Puget Sound and the fact that they aren't just electricians selling solar systems on the side. The PSE people and L&I inspectors know them by name. The electrical (Emil) and physical panel (Michiel) installations were some of the most professional electrical or general contracting work we have ever had done. We plan on using them again next year, to upgrade the system size when solar panels made in WA State become available.
Description of Work: Puget Sound Solar installed a 1.17 Kw Photo Voltaic, grid-tied solar electrical system on the roof of our house. The system is comprised of 7 panels on the roof and an inverter panel (with a production meter) adjacent to our Puget Sound Energy electrical billing meter. Jeremy Smithson and Sean Izzarone first came to our house to do an on-site energy analysis, including an electronic measurement of the amount of unobstructed sky and prediction of system performance. We then discussed a considerable number of options and Sean provided us a couple days later with system options and a financial analysis based on predicted performance for our house. After the parts arrived, everything moved very quickly and the system was completely installed in two days by their electrician, Emil Urban, and their panel installer, Michiel Zuidweg. The L&I inspector came out to inspect the installation with Emil, then all that was left was installation of net metering meters by Puget Sound Energy.

Response from PUGET SOUND SOLAR
We regret that the member was so unsatisfied with our work. We did not hear anything from her at the time and were therefore suprised to see this listing. One of our satisfied customer's inssited on posting on our behalf is complete satisfaction with his project. The member did not have us do a solar design or installation project but an energy audit. We can only guess that her dissatisfaction was with how long it might have taken to get her a report. Because we got so busy doing solar in 07 we stopped doing energy audits until we had the staff to do the work justice. We now have a division, Sound Home Performance, which can give 100% response to home owners who need an energy audit and retrofit of their home. I am happy to say that we have been able to shorten our response time in most areas and only the delays do to the popularity of solar projects slows us down. (Shortages of some solar equipment says something important about our country's move to renewables.)
