Phinney Ridge Painting

We hired Phinney Ridge Painting through the Angie's List Big Deal special. We informed Nik, the owner, that we were in a big hurry to get our home prepared to go on market and had to get them out within a few days to do the work. He usually waited for the Angie's List special to finish before he would start to book all the appointments, but he realized our urgency and booked us immediately. Nik was very pleasant to deal with and we will definitely be using their services again! Nik sent Kent, his tech, out to do the work. Kent arrived promptly and consulted with me on what I wanted done. He "suited up" and got right to work. He was very thorough, and would ask me questions if something came up or needed to be clarified. He knew we were preparing to sell the house and helped me achieve the best outcome for curb appeal. He worked very hard and had a great attitude. We will definitely request Kent again, if he is available.

The owner, Nick, was very nice about fitting us in right away, but then the first job that day went a lot longer than anticipated (they did call to warn us that they would be late) and when they arrived they asked if they could reschedule due to a personal conflict. We had been waiting around for them, had already laid out the lights, and it would have been inconvenient for us to reschedule, so Kent (and the other guy whose name I have unfortunately forgotten) agreed to stay. They were very careful, professional and pleasant to work with. I think they got very busy in January and, since I said they could come out anytime, sort of forgot about us. I called Nick in early February to remind them that we were still waiting, and Kent came a few hours later. He cleaned the gutters and took down all of the lights and was nice enough to label the location for each of the light strings as he took them down. We were very pleased, so I debated a long time about giving them an 'A', but we were actually rather annoyed by the scheduling issues, so I finally decided it had to be a 'B'. (Probably would have given them an 'A-' or 'B+' if that was an option!)

They responded through email stating that their service time would have to be delayed because of the influx of Big Deal Purchase. They mentioned they would have to wait to schedule services until the promotion ends. And then they would schedule a block of customers that lived in the same area. I decided to refund the Big Deal because it wouldn't work for me time wise

Kent arrived exactly on time and was ready to work after examining the area that we wanted decorated and making a couple of suggestions. He was efficient and careful and the decorations looked great. A holly tree needed a little trimming to make his work possible, and he helped me remove the higher branches. He cleaned up thoroughly after hanging the lights and after removing them; he was gracious and professional.

I have a limited budget and they worked very hard to get everything done that involved a ladder - and still within my budget. I'm an injured Senior and don't want to climb ladders. Owner, Nik, stayed in touch with me throughout the process because our work was affected by the icy weather. He is very friendly and I felt he truly wanted me to be happy with their work! Everything was done well - Kent did an excellent job and was very friendly and pleasant to work with.

I had a very good experience with them. I talked with the person before we scheduled the visit. The man came to do the work and did exactly what I wanted him to do.

They did a good job, we did not need the gutter cleaning done so they treated my roof instead.

The crew did a great job hanging the lights, cleaning some of the gutters, and taking the lights down after the holiday. I almost didn't want the lights to come down, they looked so nice.

They did a great job! Installed as I instructed. They were great to deal with too.

I needed several rooms textured and painted (including a laundry room that needed a lot of detailed masking of pipes, etc), and the guys at Phinney Ridge Painting did a great job. Nick came out promptly to give me an estimate, and Sam and Andrew did the work shortly after. They were all very professional, easy to work with, and I am very happy with the results. I would definitely recommend them and use them for future jobs.

I traded email with Nik a few times to set up a consultation and get a sense of how many lights I needed to purchase; for a number of reasons we were not able to connect but Nik was very professional and eventually was able to squeeze my house into their busy schedule. Nik sent Kent and another team member to work on my house and Kent was very responsive and helpful in helping decide how the lights should be hung/arranged. Together, they cleaned the gutters & hung the lights quickly. It turned out that I needed a few more strings so they were kind to return the next day to finish the project. They cleaned everything up & the lights look fantastic. Great job! They'll be returning in the next few weeks to take them down and I expect that will go just as well.

Email sent to Nikolas S. Palladino, Owner, on Nov 13, 2012 : Nik, The person you sent to my house arrived at 9am. I was there and did a walk around with him to explain the priority of tasks, as outlined in my previous email below. Then I went to a doctor's appointment. When I returned at 11.30am and he was gone. I thought he was taking a lunch break but he never returned. The results of his labor was: 2a) Clean roof & and gutters; apply moss killer. Most of the gutters were cleaned but the roof was NOT cleaned. Moss killer was applied to some but not all areas of the roof. 2b) Pressure wash steps leading from street up to the house. This was done but the debris was left in the middle of the driveway which I had to sweep away myself to avoid someone tripping over it as they walk up the steps. Also dirt from the pressure washing splashed onto against the white fence and into my deck. 2c) Pressure wash driveway. This was NOT done. Obviously this is very disappointing and not satisfactory from two perspective: 1) Assuming he did not leave earlier than 11.30am only 2.5 hours labor was performed instead of the 4 hours that I had purchased on Angie's List. 2) The 2.5 hours labor resulted in unacceptable results. Please complete 1.5 hours labor owed to me and complete the job properly, or refund me $55. I'll withhold further action and my rating on Angie's List pending your response. Henry Henry, I am sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with the results. I will forward this email to Kent to make sure that he completes the job. I think we can accommodate your needs with the following exceptions. *The deal only covers application of moss killer to moss on roof surfaces and not "cleaning" of roof. In some cases it is easy and safe enough for the guys to get up on the roof and use the washer to blow off lose debris and leaves. It is not wise to use a pressure washer to uproot and remove moss on a composite roof as it can puncture and will erode the composite materials from the shingles. *I am not sure how big your driveway is, he may have not washed it if he thought it would take significantly longer than the deal would have covered. I can not speak directly to his decision making process on this but I will enquire and find out why he did not touch it. As for everything else you have noted here, I will send Kent out today or tomorrow to address this issue. He will contact you directly to schedule. My husband was injured in late October and I wondered how am I going to get my Christmas lights up?I searched Angies List and found Phinney Ridge Painting and made the initial contact. The owner got back to me within a few hours and we set up a time for his employee to come out. Kent arrived on time and was great at getting all my ideas and directions straightened out. When he was done our lights looked better than they ever have. My husband may have lost his "job" putting up the lights next year.

I needed professional pressure-washing of long overdue decks and driveway at my house which is heavily surrounded by tall evergreen trees. Happy to find and purchase an Angie's List coupon offered by Phinney Ridge Paint Co. Although Phinney Ridge is mostly an exterior and interior painting business, I believe that preparation and cleaning a house and surrounds of moss, mildew, dirt, etc., is probably the most important step for an eventual great paint job. I was out of town when I scheduled an appt. with Phinney Ridge. I spoke with Nik (owner) on phone and sent quick photos of what I thought were problem areas. Nik was very personable and attentive to my concerns. He sent out Kent (?) to do the washing on the day scheduled. (My neighbors said he was very hardworking!) Being professional painters who must have very clean surfaces to paint, Kent seemed to have an "eye" for getting into every "nook and cranny." When I returned home about a week later, i was amazed at how spotless the decks and cement were, esp. without use of harsh chemicals like Clorox -- it was the best job we've ever had over 25 years living with our trees and moisture, including our own efforts to pressure wash over the years. If the Phinney Ridge crew are this good at cleaning (therefore, paint prep work), they will certainly get a call from me for next year's cleaning tasks around my house, and a first chance bid for any big painting jobs I need in the future. We were contacted by the owner by email. He had us fill out a questionnaire (he was offering 4 hrs of service and they offer many services). The questionnaire included when we'd like the work to be done, what was the scope of the work, etc. Plus best phone # to reach us, time of day to reach us etc. I emailed him back and he contacted me again via email confirming what we were requesting and what times were available. I replied. He in returned called me a few days later to schedule who and when. He had Kent come out to the house. Kent arrived early and was extremely professional even though the temperatures had dropped and it was freezing, the wind was blowing and it was raining sideways....But he came ready and able to dive into our very full gutters. Had all the tools he needed, worked fast and efficient, and was very courteous and respectful of us and our home. After he was done, I made sure to call the owner "Nick" and to let him know how happy we were with Kent and the job that he had done.

They were excellent. They were able to get rid of some very heavy moss on the driveway.

Initially left message for them on-line and they called the following day to schedule appointment. Their service rep was running late and called AHEAD of time to check my schedule and to let me know they were running late. It was pouring down rain that day, but they worked despite the weather. Great job of power washington. Not sure how well the moss treatment worked with all of the rain, but they are very responsive to calls and follow up. Both service reps were very police and professional.

On a record-breaking rainy Seattle day, the crew showed up right on time in good spirits, confirmed the work that needed doing, including an area I pointed out to avoid direct spray on due to leaks in the past, and they got right to it! They wrapped up the work with no leaks, the stairs and front walkway have never looked so nice before, and touched base with me to see if there was anything else I'd like done since there was still about 20 minutes left on the deal. On any other day I would have had them continue pressure washing around the garage but there was already a sizable puddle from the downpour and I didn't want to risk flooding there! Thanks for such great service.

The team arrived at the scheduled time. They started work right away. They completed the tasks efficiently and worked well together. We will definitely hire them again.

Very friendly. Very responsive. Scheduled work within two days of initial contact. Work was on schedule and worker kept in contact during appointment to make sure he was doing what I wanted done. My only complaint had to do with clean up after the job was completed. When I raised the issue, they were out same day to finish clean up.

We selected Phinney Ridge Painting to repaint our peeling and faded paint. Nik Palladino and crew (Sam!) did a great job scraping, prepping and painting. Nik is very helpful with color and paint type recommendations - we were unsure of what to do with the front porch/front steps and he recommended a heavy duty paint in a great color. Painting the exterior was a middle step between replacing siding on one side of the house and replacing the deck and PRP was really good about working with the siding and deck contractor. They were able to finish up just before the rain started this fall. Also, Nik is a really nice gregarious guy and has a good team that you don't mind having around the house for a week or so.

I called looking for an estimate for house painting in September 2012. First, the owner Nickolas Pallidino told me he was very busy with taxes and could not take on another job. Later in the conversation he indicated he could come do an estimate that day, and if he had others scheduled for October and November who backed out, he could paint my house this year, or, I could schedule for next spring and be sure of a spot. He arrived and reviewed the job, took measurements, and told me he would have an estimate to me the end of the week. Nothing came, and I did not re-contact him. Later, in early October, he write back and told me he found he had missed sending me an estimate and asked if I was still interested; if so, he'd send one over "ASAP". I answered I'd still like one, thinking he was going to put me on a schedule for next spring possibly. As yet, he has not sent the estimate and it doesn't appear he will do so. It is disappointing that the company isn't more straightforward about the bid process; and they appear to be less than able to schedule as they promise. They don't seem to have a good scheduling or bid process and I don't feel they were very straightforward in their dealings with me.

It went great both times. He is timely, precise, friendly, careful, reasonably priced, honest and does lovely work. Very customer service oriented and flexible. We still get positive comments from people on the exterior paint job. Has good suggestions to keep with the style of your home, while recognizing budget limits when necessary.
