Description of Work: I was having a problem getting my newer laptop to come on. I took it in and Matt knew the problem right away (something with the new Windows...ugh). He fixed it on the spot in a couple minutes and didn't charge me. This was the second time I used PC Fix in Edmonds, and I have been happy both times.

Description of Work: I took an old Lenovo laptop into PC Fix. I had thought it was dead, but after a $50 diagnosis, they fixed it for $137. Many other repair places would not reset the motherboard and straighten out he case. I am delighted that they could fix it. I had planned to give it to my son, but it stopped working just as I handed it over. Unfortunately, a few weeks after that repair, I spilled a bit of white wine on my new laptop. They again did a $50 diagnosis. The prognosis was not so good. They said that there was a 50-50 chance that they could fix it by washing the motherboard and replacing the keyboard. Since it was under warranty for accidents, I chose not to have the work done. The staff does not have greatest social skills with customers but the company is very very professional and I would go back to them again. The first repair was done faster than I had expected. The only reason I marked them down for responsiveness is that I was not called within 4 days the second time.

Description of Work: I have a four year old Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop. I was having a problem with freezing up and despite my efforts to re-boot or go to my last good start, I could not get it working. I have driven by this shop for the last ten years, and thought I would check it out on Angie's List. The reports were favorable and I took it in. Within two days that had fixed a system error, added memory and had me back in great working condition.

Description of Work: Set up two lap tops; also connected the lap tops to existing wireless network in the house. Set up My Space and AIM blocking so kids are not constantly screwing around on computers. Also, did some fine tuning on existing computer to speed it up, get rid of pop ups, etc.

 + -1 moreTHEY WERE WILLING TO GIVE LOTS OF TROUBLESHOOTING ADVICE OVER THE PHONE AT NO CHARGE WHICH WAS VERY NICE. WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN, THEY VERIFIED THE PROBLEM, AND THEN TOOK IT IN FOR DIAGNOSIS. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS, THEY DECLARED IT DOA (DEAD ON ARRIVAL), SAYING THEY COULDN'T EVEN GET IT TO STAY UP LONG ENOUGH TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS. HE SAID THE ONLY WAY TO EVEN DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WAS TO REPLACE PART BY PART, AND SEE WHAT GOT IT TO START WORKING AGAIN. THIS COULD BECOME VERY EXPENSIVE IN PARTS, RE-STOCKING FEES, AND LABOR. INSTEAD I HAD THEM COPY THE CONTENTS OF THE HARD DRIVE ONTO AN EXTERNAL DRIVE THAT I COULD CONNECT TO ANOTHER COMPUTER. THEY ONLY CHARGED ME FOR THE EXTERNAL DRIVE, AND THE ORIGINAL DIAGNOSTIC LABOR COST.
Description of Work: I CONTACTED PC FIX TO REPAIR MY LAPTOP WHICH STOPPED BOOTING, OR WOULD FREEZE SHORTLY AFTER BOOTING. GOT SOME ADVICE OVER THE PHONE. THEN BROUGHT IT IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS, WHEN THAT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM, THEY LOOKED AT THE COMPUTER, AND TRIED TO DETERMINE WHY IT WOULD NOT BOOT.
