He is wonderful. He is a thinker; he works his way through the problem and solves it. He is quite knowledgeable and easy and reliable to work with. The first time I used him, he had done some kind of plumbing work for me. The other estimates that I had had for that job was around $6,000 - $20,000. He solved the problem for just $350. I would tell the others that he is a very good problem-solver. He is extremely good about pruning with water management. He is quite versatile at what he can do. Also, he is very fast. He has been able to make the leaves go away forever.
Description of Work: I use Northwest Native Landscapes. The last time I used him, he trimmed a bunch of trees to get them set for the season. He also rebuilt some cement stairs inside my house and did some plumbing work for me.

My semi-daylight basement and Mother-in-law apartment flooded in the record breaking rainfall 12/12/10. Several contractors gave me repair bids ranging from $3200 - $13,000. I live 2/3rd of the way down a hill and the assumption was that new construction at the top of the hill had rerouted the ground water into my previously dry basement. The solution appeared to be to jackhammer along 48? of basement wall and install a French drain and sump pump inside the house or to dig a 7? deep, 12? wide 50? long trench outside the house for a similar drain and pump. Mike Foster was recommended to me by a friend. Mike is a landscaper and his skills were focused outside the house. We discussed how to get equipment into my backyard to do the work. He then asked a question no one else had: ?When did the flooding stop?? I told him it was 5-10 minutes after the rain. His response was, ?Interesting! Ground water should continue to flow much longer than that.? He said he?d like to come out in the rain and see how the rainwater flowed around the house. Two days later he did and discovered that one of my roof drains was twisted out of alignment and that, along with a somewhat obscure hole in the retaining wall by a well window, was dumping a ton of water next to the foundation. There was also water coming out of a broken drain in the roof of a large shed in the backyard. His solution was to put a rainbarrel under the shed roof with a garden hose rerouting the water to a nearby storm drain; reroute the downspouts with flexible pipe; and fill in the hole and other gaps between the backyard asphalt and retaining wall concrete with hydraulic cement. Mike admitted that it wasn?t certain that this would solve the problem completely, but it was work that needed to be done regardless. He said if it did solve the problem we could discuss a more attractive solution than the flexible piping and hose. The grand total: $390.60!! The consummate professional, he called back after the next big rainfall to see how it was working. All I can say is: So far, so good! His plan is rerouting far more water than I ever knew was coming into that area. Actually, that?s not ?all I can say.? All I can really say is ?HIRE THIS GUY!? He?s smart, thorough, fast, easy to work with and more than reasonable in his pricing.
Description of Work: The most cost effective thing Mike did was to solve a problem five older, more experienced contractors couldn't solve: he diagnosed the source of the problem. The actual work consisted of putting a rainbarrel under a broken corner of a large shed roof to collect the water the drainpipe was no longer doing. Rerouting the water to a nearby storm drain with a garden hose. Rerouting the house downspouts with flexible pipe. Filling in a hole in a retaining wall and other gaps between the backyard asphalt and retaining wall concrete with hydraulic cement.
