Michael's Landscaping-A Better Pruning

They quickly returned my call and did the job professionally and to my full satisfaction.

Michael was responsive and punctual, but he is not a skilled pruner. He handled the camelia well which just required him to follow the exact shape. However for our rhododendrons he had no eye for the natural shape of the plant and the garden. It looks like he took a hedge clipper to some of them rather than pruning them. I was especially disappointed that he trimmed a hydrangea about to bloom because first, I told him we did not want the hydrangea cut, second he ruined its symmetrical shape and made it completely lopsided, and third, it is not the right time of year to prune a hydrangea. I think Michael is qualified for yard work, but I cannot recommend him for pruning that requires any degree of knowledge or sophistication.

This is the second time I have had Michael work on the trees and bushes in my yard. He is very knowledgeable and provides a lot of good information about how to maximize landscape value. The work he did on my trees was very professional and left them looking MUCH better. Trees are such a huge part of property value that you really want someone who knows what they are doing and can keep trees in optimum shape -- Michael fits the bill. I also needed two big holly trees removed. Michael thought this job was a little more than he wanted to tackle on his own so he referred me to another service that has their own chipper. They were excellent but Michael went the extra mile of being on site while they did their work to make sure that everything turned out just right. I am already planning on hiring Michael again this fall/winter to trim all the bushes on my property.

They were great! They listened to what I said. I've scheduled them again in the fall to do the clipping on the hedge and probably will do some other things. He was local, right on the button, and knows his stuff. He had to rake up and he did a great job.

He worked quickly, did a very good job, cleaning up every little bit.

Our front and back yards were seriously overgrown. Mike was quick to come and give a detailed quote of all the services we needed, and once I confirmed with him that we were satisfied with the quote he was back the following day and started working. He was very specific about what he was doing at every stage, thorough and friendly. I was very satisfied with his expertise, his solid work ethic, and his speed. I'll definitely use him again.

Michael gained my trust with his expertise--especially with the long-overdue tree pruning--trees still look natural! Rhodies look great, despite the drastic pruning they needed.

We called Mike on a Friday night and he came within about 15 minutes to give us a quote. We found the pricing reasonable, so scheduled him to do the work that weekend. He came as promised with a helper. They worked diligently and asked for our opinions to be sure they didn't prune more than we were anticipating. The Hawthorns took more time than he anticipated, but he still stuck to his originally quoted price. He did excellent work and we love the way our trees look now. We will definitely call on him again!

I called him one day while I was home from work and he came over to give me an estimate within an hour (I live close). He was very knowledgeable and the estimate was more than reasonable so we set it up for him to do during the coming week. The next day I came home to a perfectly pruned hedge, no left over mess, gorgeous! Bill was in the door. Wonderful work, good person. I will use him again when I need to and not let the laurel get so out of control.

. It went very well. Mike arrived and did a complete edging, clean-up and mowing using high quality equipment and he appeared to be very experienced in his work. Although the lawn was very long, he worked very quickly and completed the job in a short period of time. He edged not only along the sidewalks and curbs but also along the flower beds. We look forward for him to come back to mow our lawn at least two more times.

. He wasprompt, thorough, efficient and cleaned up everything very well. Because of scheduling he needed to do the pruning over two days, which worked out just fine. His actual cost ended up being less than estimated because we determined not all pruning was needed right now, He was collaborative about how the trees would look given different pruning views. I appreciated that.

He made a great recommendation on plants we could put in their place of the rose trees and even talked us out of some ideas we had that were expensive and unnecessary. Today, our front yard has gone from a complete train wreck to the best looking yard on the block. Michael exceeded our expectations and we will definitely hire him for future work.

Michael was a pleasure to work with. He trimmed a large overgrown evergreen that blocked my front porch and gave it a very nice, natural shape. He also pruned 2 laurels and a very large Japanese maple. The finished work looks great and clean-up was meticulous.

Michael came by and walked through the yard with me to go over what work I wanted done. He was very thorough and made sure we covered every part of the yard. After getting an estimate, I agreed to have him do the work. A few days later, he came over with a helper and they got to work clearing ivy that was growing on fences, trees, part of the house, and migrating across the whole yard. It was hard, tedious work. He also cut back black berry bushes, trimmed down bamboo and some other bushes. They did a great job and ended up working several hours more than he thought it would take to make sure they did a thorough job. I'm very satisfied with their work, and an extra bonus is that Michael is a really nice and honest man.

Michael did a great job and responded quickly. We consultative yesterday morning, and he began work immediately. By dinnertime, the yard was ready for Preen and bark. He returned this morning, and was finished with everything by noon. A first-class experience. Thanks, Michael!

Michael did a great job and was a pleasure to work with. I had several huge hedges and trees that were way overgrown and he made some suggestions for how to prune them that I hadn't thought about, and it all worked. He worked in my yard for several days and consulted me before making huge changes and checked that I was happy as he went about the work. I also needed a huge problem tree removed and a super tall hedge trimmed off the top, and although he couldn't do those two things he referred another company who gave me a good deal based on their relationship with him. Michael even called after the other company was done to make sure I was happy.

It all went great. I'll be having him back to go after the backyard, and will get him on a routine maintenance to keep things tidy. He and his helper are easy to work with--they took care of everything, and then left everything really quite clean and tidy. It all seemed quite thorough, and Michael was very deliberate about doing a good job, and did some extras (at no extra cost) that were above and beyond the statement of work--it was clear that it was important to him to deliver good quality and good value. Thumbs up all around.

Our HOA has continued to use Michael for all of our landscaping needs for our condo complex, because he is just that good. Over the past 4 years we have used Michael and his associates to carry out as an example, the following types of work: 1. Trimming of various types of shrubs/plants, including laurel hedges, perennials, rose bushes and juniper trees 2. Comprehensive weeding of grounds and graveled areas, including hard-to-treat pavement areas 3. Comprehensive tree-trimming and pruning services, including delicate Japanese Maples, Birch trees, and a very large Sugar Maple tree. In the latter case, it took a lot of time and effort to prune this tree so as to retain the elegant line of the tree whilst also making sure any overhanging limbs were removed that could impact wires and rooflines. 4. Purchases all needed materials and then disposes of all yard waste and cleans up after work completed. 5. Carries out hard landscaping such as laying gravel beds and in laying multibark. In every case, Michael comes out and does a walkthrough of the work to be done and then gives you a price quote for each piece of work--and then he sticks to his estimate. He also carries out the work in time and to specification, and our HOA has always been happy with his work. I can foresee that we will be using Michael's services again when it comes time to carry out our next round of landscaping maintenance.

Outstanding is the first word that comes to my mind when I have had Michael service our yard. He is extremely knowledgable and considerate of cost, which is invaluable. I travel for work a lot and need help with the upkeep and growth of my yard. Michael gets to work and my yard flourishes as a result. There's a giant tree in my neighbor's yard that hangs over 50% of mine, and inevitably the patio becomes quite often covered in leaves, twigs, sap and seedlings - thousands of them. Michael not just gets them cleared - but cleaned. The plants, shrubs and trees require periodic maintenance and I get peace of mind not having to deal with scheduling another appointment in my busy day because he knows when to come and go and take care of the needs of all of the yard without my involvement. Invaluable, affordable and effective. I highly recommend him and his service!

Great, he really worked hard and got a lot of work done. He also gave me good advice on how to keep it cost effective.

Michael responded immediately to my call, made an appointment for a bid, and began work in a timely fashion. He was very professional and knew what he was doing. The pruned bushes have never looked so good. He also took the time to explain to me the best ways to keep the yard looking good and better ways to do work myself. He is somewhat more expensive than some of the options, but well worth it. The yard looks fantasic.

I found Michael's company here on Angie's List and contacted him via email to provide an estimate to remove 4 trees and prune overgrown shrubs in my small yard. He phoned back soon after and drove over the same day and gave me a quote which I accepted. I had no specific date requirement but the work was completed within the week and it looks great. Great service, he knows his stuff and I will use him again.

The team did a terrific job over two days of preparing my yard. They said the results would show all season and they certainly did. They were not the lowest bid on the project but I really connected with them and felt confident they would do the job well. I live in one of the toughest yards to take care of with the steep front slope and rock wall on Queen Anne. It was impressive to see the care that they took and the effort they made to do a good job. I would recommend this company without hesitation. and will ask them back again.
