They don't care your house, they just want you to pay them. They would lie to you by saying they have cleaned the area but it's obvious they didn't, because it's all sandy and dusty. I actually paid them because I keep my promise, but the owner said he will come to finish the cleaning but again he lie and saying all excuses and not coming. Trust me, hire at your own risk. That's how bad they are.

It went great. Every cleaner sent found something that needed to be done that I had missed or didn't see and then implemented it.
Description of Work: have never used a house (or in my case, a 975 square foot creek side condo) cleaning service before. But after coming home exhausted one day from working with one of my clients that I setup, review, trouble shoot, or train one-on-one in QuickBooks for their business and Quicken for their personal finances, I realized as a busy professional that I needed to delegate tasks that needed to be done but I didn't have the motivation to do well or the time to do so. I found it ironic that I was in this situation as I am frequently on my clients case about outsourcing their business tasks to others. One reason I picked Maid in the Northwest was they are a local (Wedgwood/Northeast Seattle business) and because they partner with Cleaning for a Reason which offers free cleanings on a space available basis for women with cancer. Since my cousin and one of my friends had Leukemia and mentioned how tired they were from the chemotherapy, I thought this was a nice way to give back to the community. The office sent Amy the next week and e-mailed me a contract and list to give to her with instructions to check off the top ten essential tasks. I liked that list as it allowed me to focus in on what I felt was important. Amy called the day before to remind me in a friendly tone of voice about our appointment and showed up on time the next morning. She worked quietly while she was here and asked questions when she wasn't sure what I meant on the list. She also complimented me on how well organized my space was. At the end, I could immediately smell and see the difference between what my bathrooms, kitchen, rugs, carpet, and cabinets looked like before and after including a brown rust stain in the master bathroom that had been seriously reduced. And the work was done in the time frame allocated. Several months later, I realized that I needed another cleaning as my condo board was coming over for a meeting and I could see and smell the need. That time, the company sent Bill who e-mailed me confirmation which I liked as I was in the field and could see it appear on my SmartPhone. Again, he showed up, asked for the list, and proceeded to get to work. At the end of three hours of the four allocated, he mentioned that he was done (and again, I could see and smell it) and suggested dusting some knick nacks that I had in several bookcases for the remaining hour. I hadn't picked dusting a priority this time but I am glad he noticed that the dust levels were now at a point that something needed to be done. Another cleaner, Danny noticed that my cabinets needed cleaning and proceeded to take care of them since he had a couple of minutes left. Needless to say, I look forward to my monthly or every other month cleanings.

I have a largish house and it looked and smelled great after being cleaned for 5 hours. A real treat to come home to after my day of work! I especially like the responsiveness of everyone in this company. They answer their phone in person; they give you an estimate of cost and work with you on budget; they send you a checklist to prioritize your specific cleaning needs/wants. Your cleaner will call, text or email you (your choice) the day before to confirm your appointment. It went so smoothly! I couldn't be happier! Thank you, Danny, you're the best!

Great! I submitted a request for an estimate online and I was emailed a price estimate and someone called me back. We were able to schedule a cleaner over the phone. I got Alan, who has now cleaned my house three times. He's done an excellent job every time. They ask you to fill out a checklist of your top priorities in the time allotted (and whether you are willing to let them go over the agreed upon hours), but Alan always asks me what I want done when he arrives. So far I've mainly asked him to do bathrooms and floors, which are pretty hard for us to get to with two small kids, a job, and pets. I love seeing the floors and sinks shine! The only downside of this service is that you are obviously paying some overhead to the business owners, so it's fairly pricey per hour. The benefit, though, is that you don't have to worry about taxes or insurance or any of those issues that you face as a household employer. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

It went fine. I really like that the service sent a list of what cleaning priorities I wanted to have done. The first time, I focused on one area such as the bathrooms and kitchen. The second, I had the cleaner dedicate any extra time to dusting.

They are great. The reason I used their service is there is a guy called Lincoln who cleaned our neighbor's house and he works for Maid In The Northwest House Cleaning Service. He had quit the job and he came back again and was working for Maid In The Northwest House Cleaning Service. I do not know if he is still working for them or not. They are always nice, but I did not have any interaction with any other cleaners apart from Lincoln. The price would have been less, but we basically have a three-bedroom house with two bathrooms and we have a dog with lots of hair and other factors affecting the price. They are always really pleasant. They seemed to be pretty good and they have been around for a long time, so I would definitely recommend them to other members also. I would use their service in the future too.

Was able to make the appointment easily and the house cleaner arrived promptly. I asked her to do a very thorough house cleaning, paying special attention to dust from the remodel that had seeped into every nook and cranny. I also asked her to clean out the cupboards on one side of the kitchen, as they were full of remodel dust. When I returned, the condo had been vacuumed and dusted, but there was thick remodel dust in many obvious places, such as the soap dish in the bathtub and corners on the floors. Also, the house cleaner did not clean out the cupboards in the kitchen. When I called the management, they said that they don't do cupboards; however, the cleaner didn't tell me that when I asked her to do them. There was so much dust still left in the condo that I said I would have to hire someone else to come and clean again. The management was very professional. They asked me if I wanted the person to come out and fix the job. I said no, I would like a refund. As a compromise, they sent me half my money back.

They sent a young man who seemed gung-ho at the start but apparently started to get hit by the flu in the course of the day. He took longer than expected (didn't charge for extra time due to his sickness) and there were a fair number of missed areas that needed cleaning by me afterwards (kitchen cabinet faces and countertop backsplash). I don't know if the employees are left to select their cleaning supplies for themselves but whatever was used on the bathroom tile (I think all he used was Formula 409) did NOT cut the job for the mildew buildup. The tile was cleaned but all the grime in the grout was left intact. I went back in with a cleaner designed for the task and it came right off. All told, I spent about 4 additional hours cleaning up the items that weren't cleaned to my satisfaction (and really, I'm not a terribly picky person). For the price charged I was rather disappointed. A large portion of my dissatisfaction may have been due to the illness of the person they sent, but I will still look elsewhere next time I need housecleaning.

I needed housekeeping help because I had a broken leg and was unable to do much. Two women came, about 45 minutes late. I had requested natural products, but they had no familiarity with them. They said they'd stopped on the way to the house and picked something up. One worked in the great room for about 3 hours, the other worked in my 12x9 bathroom for 3 hours. When I said I thought 3 hours was too much in the bathroom she said, "I can't work like this, let's go." After about a 1/2 hour discussion they agreed to stay and finish, but the kitchen floor didn't get done and my bedroom wasn't touched. It's a 1200sq ft house. They went over by nearly 2 hours past the estimated time. The company was more interested in charging me for the extra 2 hours than in my distress over the experience. They did agree to only charge me for the original time, but the entire experience was unsatisfactory and distressing.
Description of Work: house cleaning. original contract was for deep cleaning the whole house. The master bath, half bath greatroom and living room got done. The master bedroom and kitchen floor were not done.

The person arrived on time and was friendly and personable. She took all 5 hours. We've tried other services, and those got lots more done in 4 hours than this in 5. They did both bath rooms, not just one. All our stainless steel was coated in a soap film and we had to clean it all over again.
Description of Work: This was our first experience with MITNW. We asked them to clean the kitchen, living room, dining room, master bath, and master bedroom (about 800 square feet). They said it would take up to 5 hours.

Never having used a cleaning service, I didn't know exactly what to expect. I recently had knee surgery and was unable to perform household tasks. I had checked off a list sent by the cleaning service of the tasks I wanted done. While Lisa performed most of the items on the list, I felt she really skimmed over the dusting and, vacuuming. She did not do a very good job of cleaning the showers. Overall, it was cleaner after she left, but certainly not up to my standards.

Response from MAID IN THE NORTHWEST HOUSE CLEANING SERVICE
It looks as though in this case not enough time was scheduled for cleaning this size house. I do not know if that was because we suggested to little time, or the Member was not able to pay for more time. Our schedulers have a rate sheet they use for estimating time. Looking at that sheet, the Member would/should have been told it would take a minimum of 7 hours to clean her size house on a one time basis. If a client asks for less time than we estimate, they are asked to be sure to fill out our checklist so that the cleaner knows what areas are most important as the cleaner may not get all the cleaning done. I don’t know what exactly happened in this case, but it was definitely a miscommunication. I am very sorry that the Member was not happy as I know she needed help because of a situation where she couldn't do the cleaning herself. We encourage clients to call the office if they are not happy with their cleaning so we can make it right for them.

We were behind schedule for our move due to contractor delays and I hadn't had time to clean up any of the dust from the minor work we had done, so I called MitN to see if there was any chance that someone could come do a move-in clean for us. They called back right away and had someone who could come the next day, which was great. They offered a written estimate and a useful cleaning checklist. The day of the service I met the cleaner at the house and walked through to talk about priorities, etc. and left for work. Unfortunately one of the contractors also showed up to finish some trim work, which seemed to be a big problem for the cleaner. He called to inform me of the difficulties the contractor's presence was causing, but I also needed the contractor to finish and hoped they could work around each other. This basically resulted in subpar work from both of them. I am sympathetic to the fact that it was probably really frustrating to the cleaner to have a contractor there basically undoing his work, but at the same time, most of the rooms in the house that needed cleaning had no contractor work to be done, and these were not cleaned well. We still had to clean the closet shelves/hanging rods and light fixtures ourselves in all the bedrooms, and there was mysterious sticky goop in the kitchen and bathroom we had to scrape off. The cleaner did not leave a completed checklist or anything to show which jobs had been done/not done, and sad to say it was not always obvious. When he was done the house looked better than it did previously, and I was grateful for the help on such short notice, but I was not blown away by the quality of the work.

They were excellent! The cleaning lady arrived right on time, by the way, this firm does background checks on all of their workers. She was licensed and bonded. They bring their own supplies including vacuum cleaners. I had a prearranged list of the things I wanted her to do for us and sheexceeded that very well. I got cold feet because I had never done this before. I was very nervous about someone seeing my home, and she was very kind and gracious when she arrived. I had asked specifically for the main floor to be cleaned which consisted of the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and three bedrooms. In the kitchen, she cleaned the surfaces of everythin; cabinets, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher. It was very nice to see! She did everything I asked her to do because I was not sure how much she could get accomplished within the four hours. I listed the areas I wanted cleaned for sure. She did 80% of the second and third lists which I wasn't sure she would be able to get to.

They performed wonderfully. The responsive office staff quickly got a crew together on short notice to work on a Saturday morning at normal rates to work around my schedule. The house was spotless and ready to show after they completed their work. The goo in the kitchen cabinet was gone, the refrigerator was spotless. Every surface and corner of the 2 and a half grimy bathrooms, and dust caked laundry room were white glove clean. All the shelving in the pantry, cabinets and linen closets was perfectly clean. The stair railings were clean as were all window sills. Cobwebs were gone. The seriously dirty house was transformed into a perfectly move-in and ready to show home in a matter of hours. They didn't miss a thing.
Description of Work: I have been using Maid in the Northwest for probably 6 or 7 years to clean the homes of my real estate clients. These are move-in/move-out "deep cleaning" types of jobs, and they always do a fantastic job. On August 1st they did a move-out cleaning for me in a house that had dirt and grime top to bottom. 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths. Cabinets with spilled gooey syrup, drawers with grimy interiors, dusty trim, horrifying refrigerator and just generally in need of cleaning attention to every surface. They left it sparkling clean and ready to show potential buyers. I use and refer Maid in the Northwest simply because they are professional, reliably on time, consistently good, and they desire to make sure my clients are satisfied whatever it takes. Their crews are mature, hardworking and know what they are doing. My clients demand a lot of me and I demand a lot of the service providers I use to get the job done. If they don't, I find someone who can, I don't have time to hassle with a service provider to come back and correct a job that should have been done right in the first place. Maid in the NW always performs up to the level of standards I demand to get the job done right.

I had to offer lots of coaching and leave notes to have things taken care. I appreciated that our cleaner would read my notes, but I didn't think I should have to repeatedly leave notes each week, "spend extra time on the vacuuming the stairs" and, "leave enough time to really wash the floors," each week. On both occasions when I canceled my service, the company did not ask me why I was canceling, if they could do anything to keep my business ("can we send another cleaner?"). The first cleaner was with us for three months, the second cleaner was with us for one year.
Description of Work: We used Maid in the Northwest for bi-weekly housecleaning in our previous house and new house. We had a different cleaner in each house. With each house (and cleaner) the initial cleans were great but service declined over time with both housekeepers.

Response from MAID IN THE NORTHWEST HOUSE CLEANING SERVICE
COMMUNICATION. FIRST OF ALL LET ME THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR CONCERNS. COMMUNICATION IS SO CRITICAL WHEN PROVIDING THIS KIND OF SERVICE. WHEN MY STAFF AND MY CLEANERS ARE NOT ABLE TO BE FACE TO FACE WITH A CLIENT IT MAKES COMMUNICATION BY EMAIL, PHONE, WRITTEN NOTES ETC. ALL THAT MORE IMPORTANT. WE REALLY APPRECIATE WHEN CLIENTS CALL INTO THE OFFICE TO DISCUSS THEIR CLEANING, AND WE WORK VERY HARD TO MAKE SURE THEIR CONCERNS ARE ADDRESSED. FORTUNATELY, MOST OF OUR CLIENTS CALL WHEN THERE IS A CONCERN, AND WE ARE ABLE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM 99% OF THE TIME. I’M SORRY YOU FELT LIKE YOU WERE COACHING WHEN YOU WERE COMMUNICATING YOUR NEEDS TO THE CLEANER. THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT WE GET FROM CLEANERS IS THERE IS NOT ENOUGH PAID TIME TO DO EVERYTHING THE CLIENT WANTS DONE. SO IN ORDER FOR A CLEANER TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE ABLE TO SATISFY EACH CLIENT'S INDIVIDUAL NEEDS, A CLIENT'S COMMUNICATION OF WHAT IS IMPORTANT AND WHAT IS NOT IMPORTANT IS CRITICAL FOR THE CLEANER TO DO A GOOD JOB. YOUR PUTTING YOUR REQUESTS IN THE FORM OF A NOTE WAS AN EXCELLENT WAY FOR YOUR CLEANER TO KNOW WHAT YOUR SPECIFIC PRIORITIES WERE FOR EACH CLEANING. AGAIN I’M SORRY YOU FELT LIKE IT WAS COACHING. WE WORK HARD TO PROVIDE PERSONAL SERVICE TO EACH PERSON WHO CALLS THE OFFICE. I AM SORRY THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN FOR YOU ON THE DAY YOU CALLED TO CANCEL. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR FEEDBACK AS IT HELPS US KNOW WHAT WE CAN WORK ON TO MAKE SURE WE CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THE BEST SERVICE POSSIBLE FOR OUR CLIENTS.

Maid in the NW has cleaned our home, bi-weekly, for the last 8 years. Originally they sent two person teams who did an excellent job. In recent years we have been assigned a single cleaner with very spotty results. No cleaner has lasted for more than a year before quitting Maid in the NW with little or no notice. There seem to be none of the usual benefits of using a service. If your assigned cleaner is sick, or can't come, the service has no replacement.

I STARTED THIS COMPANY 21 YEARS AGO CLEANING MYSELF, AND THERE WERE THREE THINGS THAT WERE OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE TO ME AND BECAME MY MISSION TO ACCOMPLISH FOR THE CLIENT: 1) CONSISTENCY & LOYALTY 2) SAFETY AND SECURITY 3) QUALITY TO ACCOMPLISH THESE THREE THINGS MY RESEARCH INDICATED IT WOULD BE BEST IF CLIENTS HAD THE SAME CLEANER FOR REGULAR CLEANING. MOST SERVICES SEND IN TEAMS OF 3 OR MORE CLEANERS AND CLIENTS NEVER KNOWS WHO THEY ARE GETTING EACH TIME BECAUSE THE CLEANERS CAN CHANGE. RESEARCH INDICATED THAT WHEN NEW CLEANERS COME IN IT DOES NOT PROMOTE LOYALTY, CONSISTENCY, QUALITY OR SAFETY. NEW CLEANERS DO NOT LEARN HOW YOU LIKE TO HAVE THINGS DONE. THEY ALSO FORM NO LOYALTY TO THEIR CLIENT BECAUSE THEY DON’T GET TO KNOW THEM. QUALITY IS COMPROMISED BECAUSE IT’S JUST - GET IN AND OUT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. ONE OF THE LARGE FRANCHISES EVEN PAYS A FLAT FEE “PER HOUSE” SO IT’S TO THE ADVANTAGE FOR CLEANERS TO GET IN AND OUT QUICKLY. HAVING DIFFERENT CLEANERS IN YOUR HOUSE EACH TIME AND ALWAYS AT LEAST 3 OR MORE – IF SOMETHING IS MISSING – WHICH ONE OF THE 3 DO YOU SUSPECT TOOK IT? WHEN WE SEND IN THE SAME PERSON OR TEAM OF 2 EACH TIME (99% OF THE TIME OUR TEAMS ARE RELATED E.G. MOTHER/DAUGHTER) THEY KNOW IF SOMETHING IS MISSING THEY WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. TO ENSURE CLIENT SAFETY AND SECURITY, I PAY FOR AN EXTENSIVE INDEPENDENT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK ON EVERY SINGLE ONE MY CLEANERS. AT MAID IN THE NORTHWEST WE WORK VERY HARD TO KEEP OUR CLEANERS. WE HAVE CLEANERS WHO HAVE BEEN WITH US OVER 10 YEARS, BUT OF COURSE WE HAVE NEW CLEANERS TOO. WE PAY THE CLEANER 50% OF WHAT YOU PAY – SO IF YOUR CHARGE IS $36 AN HOUR THE CLEANER GETS $18 AN HOUR FOR CLEANING YOUR HOUSE. WE KNOW THAT CLEANERS WHO ARE PAID WELL ARE MORE SATISFIED WITH THEIR JOB AND OF COURSE, WE WOULD LIKE THEM TO STAY WITH US FOREVER? DOES THIS HAPPEN 100% OF THE TIME? NO OF COURSE NOT. CLEANERS MOVE ON TO OTHER PROFESSIONS AND COMMITMENTS IN THEIR LIVES. MAID IN THE NORTHWEST WORKS HARD TO PROVIDE QUALITY CLEANERS, AND WHEN THEY QUIT WE WILL SEND IN ANOTHER PRE-QUALIFIED CLEANER. WHEN CLEANERS ARE SICK OR GO ON VACATION (WHICH THEY DO), EITHER YOUR CLEANER OR MY STAFF WILL CALL AND ASK IF YOU WOULD LIKE A SUBSTITUTE. MANY CLIENTS PREFER TO WAIT FOR THEIR CLEANER TO GET BACK AND CHOOSE NOT TO SCHEDULE A SUB. THE DOWN SIDE OF HAVING THE SAME CLEANER EACH TIME IS THAT THEY DO GET SICK AND DO TAKE VACATION. WE BELIEVE THAT THE UPSIDE OF HAVING THE SAME CLEANER EACH TIME IS SO VALUABLE THAT IT’S EASY TO LIVE WITH THE DOWNSIDE. AND IF YOU WANT A SUBSTITUTE CLEANER WE ARE HAPPY TO SEND ONE IN FOR YOU. I THANK YOU FOR STAYING WITH MAID IN THE NORTHWEST FOR 8 YEARS! IT SEEMS AS THOUGH WE DID NOT HAVE A TEAM TO SEND IN TO CLEAN AT THE TIME YOU NEEDED ONE AND YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH AN INDIVIDUAL CLEANER WAS NOT A GOOD MATCH. OF COURSE I WISH WE WOULD HAVE RESOLVED THAT FOR YOU, BUT IF WE HAD NO TEAMS WITH TIME AVAILABLE IN YOUR AREA WE WERE UNABLE TO DO THAT FOR YOU AT THAT TIME. MY OFFICE STAFF IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE FROM 8-5 MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY TO TAKE YOUR CALL AND HELP RESOLVE ANY PROBLEM YOU MIGHT HAVE WHETHER YOU NEED A CLEANING OR HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A CLEANING. WE ANSWER THE PHONE AND ARE THERE TO HELP YOU. PLEASE CALL IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM SO WE CAN WORK WITH YOU TO GET IT RESOLVED.
