Overall, it went very well. He listened to what we wanted and really seemed to understand; he then made good thoughtful suggestions, showing experience and artistry. The work was done efficiently and turned out to be exactly what we needed. Thank you Mr. Le!

I contacted Mr. Le via email and requested a quote. Since we played telephone tag a bit, he always left me a message of how to contact him. We agreed on a date and time and he promptly showed up and inspected the work I needed and requested. I was pleased that he took the time to walk around and make suggestions. He made a reasonable quote for the work and he and his 2 crew members showed up on time on the day he said they would arrive. They worked for about 3 hours to do pruning, hedging, mowing, and laying down mulch. I was glad to pay the price for the work they did. Very fine job. Would hire again and will recommend to neighbors if asked.
Description of Work: Hedging of massive laurels, pruning and shaping of overgrown rhodies, pruning trees, and adding of mulch. In addition, cut grass, and very nice cleanup.

Mr. Le responded quickly to my email. His estimate was higher than I was expecting but then I don't know anything about yard work. I know there was a lot to do (I neglected my yard for two years). Mr. Le seemed like a good guy; very prompt and courteous; and I could understand him (had problems with others in the past). The final cost, including the Angieslist discount was lower than the estimate so I'm happy. Service was excellent. I'm happy with the work. Everything went smoothly. I'd use him again. I like that he uses email. Makes it easier to communicate. And most of all; thanks for not waking me up Saturday morning with the sounds of machinery - I wish my neighbor's landscapers were as courteous. In fact even with the machinery, he and I think there was one other man, were so quiet that I kept looking out the window to see if they were still there.
Description of Work: Trimming bushes and trees; pulling weeds; digging out roots of dead bushes; trimming vines and blackberry bushes; etc. I'm sure there's more - it took more than a day to complete.

From the reports here on Angie's list, I have to believe that Mr Le does very good work. However, he quoted me a price that seemed VERY high. After getting other quotes that were between 30% - 35% of Mr Le's quote, I know he was outrageous. Mr Le knew I was getting other quotes and called me 2 days later to say he could probably do it for less. By that time I had already hired someone else and it is funny how he guessed the cost charged by the other company and was now able to do the work for that price (1/3 of his original quote).. That must have been the fair price all along.
Description of Work: No work was performed - his quote was outrageous.

It was a pleasure to have Mr. Le come back for a spring cleanup quote on Tuesday, his team worked h****** Thursday, and on Friday Mr. Le came early before his team finished the job to discuss keeping the weeds under control with weedkiller before applying mulch and I agreed because he helped me see it really was necessary to keep the yard looking beautiful. Thanks again for a fantastic job and we look forward to enjoying the results for months!

Mr. Le was easy to contact (I do so love a contractor who actually returns messages!), arrived promptly for our evaluation appointment, and gave a fair and reasonable estimate as to the amount of work required to make us respectable again. And then he did the work -- his team showed up bright and early Monday morning and just went to town. The difference in the yard is night and day; frankly, I don't recall the rock work looking that sharp and well-managed when we *bought* the place, and he balanced out our strange borders with a judicious eye (and a lot of beauty bark, but it's that sort of yard). I've now contracted with Mr Le to keep things in line going forward; I look forward to our yard never looking shabby again, and I'm extremely happy with my choice of lawn-care service professional.
Description of Work: We've let our yard go for well over a year, and it's not an easy yard to rein back in either -- rock work, strange borders, rampant overgrowth, and above all a lot of very pernicious weeds. (The previous owners weren't much for upkeep either.) We required weeding, mowing (the grass hadn't been touched since October and was nearly 2' high in places), edging, more weeding, and some weeding above and beyond that. We were seeking a service that could undo the neglect of the previous months and manage biweekly upkeep going forward.

The overall experience was less than I expected from a highly rated Angie's List service provider. We had the downspout drainage system enhanced to mitigate the existing system that was failing. This part of the service went relatively well other than the constant complaints regarding material costs and complexity of the work performed. I got the feeling Mr. Lee wanted to add additional costs for this part of the work that he should have anticipated in the first place. Additionally, Mr. Lee should have been prepared to remove the excess dirt from the property left over by the excavation of the drainage channels, but instead they piled the leftover dirt into a garden bed. No attempt was made to discuss this decision made by the crew and no compensation was offered for the inconvenience of us having to deal with it ourselves later on. We had the sprinkler system upgraded. Although Mr. Le was unprepared (lacked the appropriate materials to perform the service) to make these upgrades properly, I will be able to finish this part of the service myself to make the system functional again. We had the front and back yard areas thatched, aerated, fertilized and over-seeded. I had to supply the fertilizer because Mr. Lee neglected to purchase this material. The seed purchased by my down payment was not completely distributed on the property. Even though I instructed the worker applying the seed to leave me the leftover seed if he did not use it up completely, they attempted to take it with them. When I witnessed this about to happen, I instructed them to leave it on the property. When the thatching was being performed, I had to instruct the workers to repeat the effort by cross-thatching the yards to ensure the thatch and moss removal was satisfactory. The aerating service was performed satisfactorily. Part of the original service contracted involved the application of moss control. I chose not to go ahead with application but instead requested the application of lime instead. When Mr. Lee felt the services were completed, I questioned him about the lime application and he attempted to tell me that they had already applied the moss control. I was present throughout the entire service and did not witness any moss control having been applied and let Mr. Lee know this. He reduced my final payment satisfactorily. If other members should choose to use this business, I would strongly suggest you be there throughout the entire project and make sure all aspects of services agreed to are written down in the estimating phase or amended as necessary. Use this as a check-off list at the end to avoid any possible disagreements and or frustrations.

He and his men came in on Saturday and finshed on Sunday. They were clean, diligent and efficient. The work was completed to specifications and was well done. It would have taken me about 2 months of weekends to do the same job.
Description of Work: My garden is about 2000 sq ft in size. Mr Le did a comprehensive Spring cleanup, weeding, and hedge trimming for the garden, both front and back yards. We also have a long walkway of pavers. It was unsafe with some sunken areas, broken pavers and loose/unstable pavers on our hilside. He corrected those problems and placed a new border to secure the upper walkway.

Got the call the next day from this guy (I can't remember his name now), and we set up a time for him to come by within a week. On that day, not only he did not show up, he didn't call, either. We had an estimate on a Saturday and had a crew working the next day. Mr. Le was there through the entire process, and I can't say enough about his professionalism and the crew's hard work. I had complete confidence that everything would be done to the highest standards, and it was. We have rather difficult access to the area, and everything was cleared out completely. Neighbors commented on how hard the crew worked. They were sensitive to hours of noise. We added a new fence to the work after the clearing started, in order to dog-proof our yard, and that was accomplished with no problem. There was minimal paperwork, and if you want someone to take charge and provide guidance on a similar project, you can't do better than Mr. Le. The hurricane fencing was a good portion of the cost, but it was a good decision for us. Otherwise the cost of the job would have been much less. I think the price for the amount and quality of work done was very fair. We'll certainly look to Mr. Le for future projects.
Description of Work: We had two large trees removed, three trees trimmed, large areas of ivy and brush cleared, solid fencing installed in the backyard. Clearing included rock garden, areas overgrown with brush, junk trees and ivy along steep banks.

They were highly recommended on Angie's List. I used them one time and my experience with them was fair enough. They were efficient and did the work we requested. I don't remember exactly how much I paid for their services. The quality of work was fine. Since, it was a long time ago, I don't remember how quick they were in responding but they were fine.
Description of Work: I have used the services of Le's Landscape and Yard Work for yard work in June or July 2010.
All of the unauthorized work done by Le's Landscape and Yard Work was defective and had to be replaced. Le's refused to accept responsibility. Le's Landscape and yard work came to our house without having been hired and started work the day they knew I was having surgery. We had previously called them to tell them we were interested in talking to them further after an initial quick meeting in which Mr. Le had misrepresented his credentials by stating he had both worked as an employee for, and later, as a sub contractor for Tom Kubota, an internationally known gardener who had originally designed our yard. They were told we were talking to another contractor, and would have to work on a design and get a bid. We also made it clear we needed a written contract. The day of my surgery they came without prior notification or permission and did exterior cement, flagstone, and grout work in pouring rain. Seattle had been having record rains and flooding during this period. They did not tell us they were coming, and did not have a contract or any plan. All of our preexisting large flagstones were removed from our property and were replaced by small pieces of a much cheaper flagstone. I paid them 4,500.00, that day while I was so heavily sedated I was not able to think clearly. I also could not go out in the pouring rain. Mr. Le pounded on the door and insisted he be paid for a completed job. The job was not complete. What was completed was substandard. They returned to make some corrections and refused to make any more. His total time on the job was 2 workers for 10 hours over 2 days. They made a general mess of our property. The job could be roughly divided into thirds. #1 : We had a plain cement stoop at our front door, with large granite stones forming 2 steps. We wanted the cement area covered with flagstone set into cement, grouted, and the granite stones adjusted for height. In a pouring rainstorm, Le's laid flagstone on top of the preexisting cement stoop and grouted it. There was no prep work and the stones rocked when walked on them. The grout cracked and fell apart. The granite stones were reset by Le's so they were too dangerous to be used as steps. Mr. Le falsely claimed to have jackhammered out the old cement and set the flagstone in new cement, using special cements and grout that were designed to "be used in rain". There is no cement or grout specially formulated to be used in heavy rain. When this flagstone was torn up ( actually, easily picked up) , it exposed the original cement stoop without any attempt having been made to prepare it for flagstone. This all had to be redone immediately. Le's refused to correct this. #2: Our front walk was to have a poured concrete base on which our preexisting large flagstone pieces were to be set with narrow grout lines. Our large pieces of flagstone disappeared , and small pieces were laid directly on the dirt with 6 to 11 inch grout lines. In some places there was more grout than stone. This work was also done in a pouring rain. Le's falsely claimed to have done the cement base, but the work was so bad it just fell apart in less that a week. Le's did come to fix this walk, but did not do a cement base. They poured about 1/8 inch of cement powder down before laying the flagstone, claiming it would "mix itself with ground water and provide a solid base". They did replace the small flagstone pieces they had originally installed with larger , cheaper stones. Le's said this is the last work they will do until they are paid more money. We had to have several corrections made to this walk already as there was improper drainage and the flagstones are shifting and the grout is cracking. When 3 stones were picked up to be regraded, there was no evidence of cement under them. Le's disposed of all of the debris from this work by hiding it around our yard in ferns and tall grasses. #3: Our patio was to maintain the same grade, with our preexisting large flagstones moved closer together with cuts made as necessary to give a good line. We did not want grout. Le's raised the grade over 14 inches by dumping dirty, debris laden, sand and pebbles in this space. In the process of destroying the grade and line of the patio, they cut a sprinkler system line and buried it with out repair, damaged some of our lighting system, and made it impossible to access our outdoor faucet. They then laid unacceptable flagstone and bricks around and tried to pour grout over this. This mess all had to be torn out. We will not be able to restore this patio to its former beauty due to the damage done by Le's.
Description of Work: LE'S LANDSCAPE & YARD WORK did landscaping for us in September. We had a large stoop area, like a little porch that was one stone up and then a front walkway that ran about 18 feet along with a little patio. They claimed that they had jackhammered our whole stuff. They redid a walkway for us. They were laying flagstone on just dirt that they didn’t even level and then they grouted it in the rain. They took out some of the stuff and did an awful brick border.

First of all I owe a big apology to Mr. Le and his crew. I thought I had written this report a couple of months ago. It wasn't until I looked in here recently and discovered I had not. Again my sincere apology Mr. Le because you guys deserve an A+++ for the beautiful work you did for me and my family. I have contracted with Mr. Le twice now. I really don't think I will ever look anywhere else for future work. Mr. Le treated our property as if it were his own. And it is also very apparent Mr. Le loves his work as an artist loves his art. I called Mr. Le with an ambitious agenda for my yard. I was ready to wait for awhile as it was a big job. I was pleasantly surprised when Mr. Le was on the job within a couple of days of my call. And it was a Saturday. His crew worked seven days a week and had all the work completed inside two weeks. I was inspired by how hard they work. My backyard was an ugly collection of various weeds some as much as three feet high! Completely unusable for my family. You should see it now. Lush grass, clean lines and not one weed. Something right out of a magazine. As Mr Le said when he was doing his final walk through, "beautiful!" His face beamed when he said it. And he was 100% right! Where there was an unusable backyard before my son and I play catch there nearly everyday. I had a very large planter box in my front yard with 12" x12" landscape timbers stacked 4 high holding probably 4 yards of topsoil. It was full of old tree roots and tough to dig through. We had tried planting various thing there but it always ended up looking ugly. Finally the timbers were starting to rot and fall apart attracting wasps and ants. I asked Mr. Le to remove it and build an expansion for my driveway. As they were doing it Mr. Le and I were both concerned that removing the dirt may undermine my neighbors rockery. So we decided to build a retaining wall. I imagined a wall built from the very common triangular landscaping bricks that are so popular these days I was pleasantly surprised when Mr. Le showed up with 70 lb. professional landscaping bricks! They expertly leveled and assembled each one and filled it with gravel. When I thought about it later I realized that since it was built around a parking space it made sense to build it so strong. Not only that but it is truly beautiful too. Mr Le saved me money too! They reused the perfectly good topsoil from my front yard planter to cover my very sandy backyard. Also I was thinking about building a very long retaining wall around the old rockery I have in the backyard. The rocks were looking kind of ugly to me. Mr Le talked me out of it. He showed me how expertly trimming around the rockery displayed a natural beauty I didn't know was there. The wall I wanted to build would have been nearly 70 ft. long and very expensive! Thanks Mr Le. The work that Mr. Le and his crew did are worth every penney! Frankly, our backyard was embarrassing. Now we get compliments! Mr Le is a true craftsman and is passionate about his work. As I mentioned before he treated my yard as if it were his own. On both jobs he has done for us he has had professional and personal investment in a way that is rare these days. I'll be calling you again this spring Mr. Le.
Description of Work: Mr Le and his crew cleaned up my backyard. Moved several yards of top soil from my front yard to back yard. In the backyard they rototilled, planted grass and fertilized. They cleaned up my rockery in back. Added a lot of fresh landscaping bark where needed. Trimmed my rhodies. Expanded my driveway in front. They brought in all the gravel needed to to make my driveway 50% bigger and built a beautiful retaining wall around the side of my driveway. Moved an outside garden shed from under my deck to a better place at the side of my yard. They prepped the site for the shed before they moved it. Removed all the old rotten landscaping timbers I had around the yard. I would estimate 2-3000 lbs. of timbers.

I would hire them again in an instant to do the lawn maintenance.... I would recommend them to anyone for that type of work... I did not do any really complaining to the company so I can't really comment on their responsiveness to repair the problems...l may do it now, that I wrote this report!!
Description of Work: I have been using Le's landscaping service for quite some time. They are wonderful at maintaining the yard/landscaping.... They have been mowing/edging for me and the price si really reasonable. I also ask them to do yard cleanup in the spring and fall and their quality of work is wonderful and prices are reasonable... BUT... I recently asked them to clean our gutters and terrace our side yard with gravel and railroad ties... the cost for those 2 services was 1100 dollars, and the work that was done was not worth the cost... They used probably 2 railroad ties and a few yards of gravel and the terracing is still not level like I thought it would be. I don't think the gutters were cleaned very well either. In the last big rain, water was pouring out all over the place. The back side of our house is really high and I think the person doing the work was reluctant to clean the gutters there, plusthey don' seem really prepared to do that type of work. They did not have any tall ladders or other equipment. They just had a leaf blower. I think most of the debri went down into the gutter spouts and clogged them up. Now I will have to pay for a REAL gutter cleaner to come out an repair.... Now I did not do any really complaining to the company so I can't really comment on their responsiveness to repair the problems...l may do it now, that I wrote this report!!

Workers were prompt, worked hard, knowledgeable. I loved how well they cleaned up after themselves. Even after the first day, they were not finished, but they swept up all the stray dirt so nothing got tracked into the house.
Description of Work: Complete weeding and trimming of complex landscaping; trim laurel hedge; fertilize. Hauled away all weeds and trimmings. Cleaned up after themselves.

We had two weeks to move houses for a remodel. Mr Le responded immediately to our need to relandscape the new house before moving, had his crew jump on the project, build some hardscape and level the property, add topsoil and create a new lawn from seed (will never go back to sod again!). All done within a few days. Great job.
Description of Work: Mr. Le and his crew completely relandscaped and hardscaped our house, and moved a bunch of plants from our old house. Did a fantastic job, highly punctual, and we are very happy with everything and are having him do the ongoing maintenance.
