Though we didn't really need an electrician, this provided a learning experience for all involved. The electrician was competent and knowledgeable about wireless switches which was our first concern. We have relied on our usual electrician who did our whole house remodel for all our electric needs for many years. However he is usually tied up on construction projects many miles from our house. Prior to our remodel we used other electricians that I'd never use again (do not remember who they were). We have found a competent, professional, and reliable electrician at Kemly.
Description of Work: Determine why interior wireless switch for exterior water fountain no longer works. It was not clear what was causing the problem during the initial visit. Decision made to replace the wireless switch and the electrical outlet to the fountain pump. (The pump was working all this time, just had to plug and unplug to operate, inconvenient.). The wireless switch and outlet were replaced during second visit. This did not solve the problem. The next step was to replace the pump which we did ourselves. That solved the problem. Previous pump included a light. Subsequent pump did not. Very peculiar problem and unfortunate for us. The problem was the pump and not the switch or outlet. We could have avoided getting an electrician.

They were able to get Bill out to my house right away. He was very professional and took the time to explain all the issues that are involved in the re-wire. He seemed quite knowledgeable and his opinions matched with what I had heard from other electricians. His bid was competitive ($7057) and came within a day of when he estimated he would have it by. Ultimately, I chose another provider who was a bit cheaper and required no money up front. That being said, I would happily call Kemly electric for future electrical work needs.

I was very unhappy with the service I received. They did not follow up on my concerns. I would not recommend them.
Description of Work: Breaker panel moved with new panel installed with appropriate rewiring for the panel and outside meter. Rewired to give dedicated circuits to existing kitchen outlets, and bathroom outlets. Old electric baseboard heaters had previously been disconnected. In attaching wires to new panel, two were designated "heat" which may activate upstairs heaters but no testing was done, and wires just disconnected with no attempt to find where they went. In grounding the new panel, the 'rods' were driven into the ground in the front of a garden bed and connected with wire that lay on top of the soil. Because of my concerns of gardening there, they restrung the wire to the back of the garden and attached it along the gas line. There was very little communication to inform me what they were doing and why, and to make sure I understood despite my inquiries. I felt they did not follow up on my concerns. I would never recommend them.

We needed to replace the knob and tube wiring for our newly purchased house to be insured. You never know what you are going to find when you go to rewire an old house. Glenn walked through with me and provided an estimate. We decided to to part of the project on bid and part as time and materials. The work was coordinated around the removal of the roof (see Stout Roofing review) and the removal and re-insulation of the attic (see HomeRx review). The electricians were very efficient and worked very hard. They finished ahead of schedule, which allowed the other contractors to get their work done quickly following the electricians. There were some challenges along the way, and we were making some changes as we went along based on what we were finding. When the project was done the ceiling fixture in the dining room no longer worked because the way the old house was wired, it was apparently on a switch loop that was part of the removed wiring in the attic (2 floors above). Not their fault, but illustrates the sorts of unexpected things that can come up (and add $) The reason I gave a B on price was because when I got the bill it was higher than I expected, especially with the project taking less time than anticipated. After some discussion (all professionally handled) it turned out there was a miscommunication between Glenn (estimator) and the electrician on site as to what should be billed hourly and what was part of the bid. The invoice was adjusted and I believe the solution was appropriate. I will use them in the future, but I will probably just stick to time and materials.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced 1930s knob and tube wiring in upper part of 1931 tudor home. Rewired some light fixtures. Added new vent fan to upstairs bath and outlets in upstairs bedrooms and bath.

Contacted Kembly about adding an outlets in deck/sunroom. Bill Stanton came out to give an estimate. Bill viewed the layout and looked at my setup. The job was scheduled for about a week later. Chris and another electrician came out to do the job. I need to have a new dedicated circuit installed to allow for a space heater to run in the deck/sunroom. The wire needed to go from the electrical panel across the garage and across to the craw space under the middle of the house across the craw space to the back deck/sunroom. In addition they installed an additional outlet for an outside outlet. They also install one new light and installed a replacement for the existing light. Replace the light switch with a dimmer. Replace the outlet cover in the sunroom. All went well and was completed in about half a day.
Description of Work: Added electrical outlets to deck (sunroom) area.

My estimator, Bill Stanton, was a dream to work with. He spent a lot of time at my house getting all necessary details for the job - and patiently explained to me everything that needed to be done (I'm a very hands-on homeowner, so I really appreciated this). He even came back to adjust the bid when we discovered that a laundry sink could not be moved to accommodate a new panel (he changed the plan to include moving the panel to a new location, so I could keep my sink). His follow-up was also amazing. The crew that did the work was on-time and professional. These guys are pricey - but definitely worth it (I've worked with other licensed electricians, and these guys are way ahead of the rest, going the extra mile to do the job 100 percent right). AND they came in about $1000 under their original bid.

Chris and his helper showed up exactly when they said they would and were very professional. Everything works and very few "holes in the walls" :) My wife and I are completely happy.
Description of Work: Rewire of 70 year old house with nob and tube wiring - no grounds. We got a new meter and service from City Light - they handled all the paperwork. We now have safe grounded outlets, Ground fault protectors in the bathroom, kitchen and utility room. New outlets in my office and new switches.

We got an estimate to replace the main electrical panel and service entry on a house we were selling. The buyer elected to take a price reduction in lieu of the repairs, so we didn't follow through with the replacement. Brian Kemly was very prompt and professional in giving us a cost and also in looking at other portions of the house wiring to see if any additional repairs were needed. His price was very reasonable and he was willing to accommodate a tight schedule to do the work before our closing date. We would definitely have used them for the work if we had to do the replacement ourselves.

They came to give an estimate, talked us through what was possible and what was needed. When we had questions, they were very responsive over the phone. They estimated the work would take a half day. When the technicians showed up (on time, very friendly and helpful), they only ended up needing about 2 hours.
Description of Work: They gave us a grounded outlet on our 3rd floor. There was no direct access to the box, so they ran conduit on the exterior of the house in order to get the proper lines to the 3rd floor. They also ran conduit for a box that is on the exterior of the house and will be used for a future construction project that we have.

The person who came out from Kemly Electric Inc. Company did a great job. He drove quite a way to get here. The distance he covered to get here early in the morning was quite something. Scheduling the job with the company was really easy. Their price was good. The person who came out was very friendly. I had a question about something the next day so I called him back. Although the business is located quite away from my house, his home was closer. So, he stopped by my house to do one additional thing for me that was not a part of the initial request. He finished that work and then left for work. I would use Kemly Electric Inc. Company in the future.

Everything went well. The electricians were very knowledgeable, efficient and customer service oriented. They were dealing with a remodeling contractor working at the same time and while we were living in the house at the same time. They blended right in and caused as little disruption as possible. The company owner, Brian Kemly, kept apprised of the job and checked on his employees and customers throughout the project.
Description of Work: Replaced all knobs and tube wiring with romex. Rewired all rooms (living, dining, kitchen, bath and 3 bedrooms, front and back porch) on 1st floor. Installed lights in closets Checked all outlets in basement, utility, furnace, and garage and replaced and installed new wiring and outlets to code. Installed new recessed lighting and fan in remodeled living and dining areas. Re-labled powerbox.

They came to do the estimate and the work when they said they would. They finished when they said they would - in one day. We had agreed that I would patch the holes, and they left me the drywall hole cut outs to facilitate that process. (None of the electrical companies I had give me estimates patched walls, and I'm comfortable doing that task). The site was clean when they left. The only unexpected event was one extra hole to patch because they ran into a problem pulling the wire in one bathroom. The fans work well, are quiet and pretty unobtrusive. It was a very positive experience for me overall.
Description of Work: Installed bathroom fans in 2 bathrooms in a mid-century modern house with a low slope roof. The house had never had fans in it's 50+ year life. Upstairs bathoom has open ceiling, downstairs is a daylight basement with limited options for venting. They were able to figure out what options could work (more than other companies I talked to) discuss my options with me, and manage all my concerns about asthetics and fan noise level. They pulled new wire from breaker box at the opposite end of the house, installed fans, timers and cleaned up the site.
