Description of Work: Total demolition of bathroom and remodel. Mark was wonderful and his subcontractors were friendly and professional. Work was always done on time and area was cleaned and protective tarps removed each night. Work is still going on for finishing, but we will come in under estimated time and budget. Mark is very good at giving suggestions when asked and has a very artistic eye. We found out about him from a friend who raved about him (she found him on Angie's List) so we hired him and would definitely use him again and recommend him. If we could give him an A+ we would! The price quoted that we paid includes our fixtures, cabinets, granite countertops for two vanities, lighting, tile, glass shower enclosure, etc. Subs did plumbing, electricity, dry wall and tile...Mark did the rest.

We could not have asked for a more positive remodel experience. The results are better than we hoped for and still came in within budget. Mark McPherson is honest, reliable and creative. He and his crew, James and Colby, take great pride in their work, from keeping the jobsite clean to creating beautiful living spaces. Mark also employs top subcontractors, whom he oversees effectively. Having workers in the house for seven months could have been a nightmare but instead was actually a pleasure. Mark is a great guy who does great work!
Description of Work: Extensive remodel of approximately 50% of our home including a new kitchen and two new bathrooms.

We had a great experience with Mark on this job. He and his workers are reliable, punctual and professional. He is very good about checking the work of his subcontractors and making sure everything is done well, on schedule and on budget. The work was tricky because it had to be done in stages so that we weren't left without a bathroom, but Mark managed to figure out a way to make it all work. We were so pleased with the progress that we added on the upstairs remodel half way through the project, which they were happy to accommodate.
Description of Work: Converted an upstairs bathroom from a half to a full bath. Moved the door, replaced window and added 2 more windows and a skylight, moved and replaced sink and toilet, added a shower, heater and raised the ceiling height. Remodeled upstairs including replacing two small closets with three larger more functional closets, updated electrical, added heaters, repaired old double hung windows added a 2nd skylight, created accessible storage areas under the eaves and raised ceiling in bedroom. Downstairs completely gutted bathroom and updated all the fixtures and finishes, replaced 3 windows, updated the electrical and dry walled a bedroom with damaged plaster.

He was great! I actually thought he wouldn't want to do something so small, but he said that was fine. I plan on calling him back to do the job.
Description of Work: They gave me an estimate for a bathroom remodel and a partial living room reconstruction. I wasn't sure if I wanted to just do a surround or a wall tile in the bathroom, so they gave me two estimates.

I had been thinking about remodeling the kitchen for some time - the existing kitchen had good flow but the appliances and fixtures were seriously outdated. In addition, the kitchen was very dark (there was only one small window, and it had been painted shut long ago) and there was only one central ceiling light. I wanted all the bells and whistles but I also wanted the new kitchen to maintain the original character of my 100-year-old house. I worked with Mark to design a fresh space with a ton of character. The new space features a lot of open cabinetry (but we still added plenty of closed cabinets with gadgets), granite counter tops, and more energy efficient, stainless steel appliances, including a new dishwasher - the first this house has ever seen. We worked in the same footprint as the old kitchen - but we did move a doorway slightly to give more room to a new, peninsula workspace topped with a thick slab of reclaimed wood. The whole remodel took about 2 months to complete.
Description of Work: We did a complete kitchen remodel in my 1907 home. This involved demolition of the old kitchen down to the stud walls, repositioning a doorway, tiling a small mudroom leading to the kitchen, removal and replacement of all cabinetry and appliances (including the replacement of an old electrical stove with a new gas stove and hood fan), removal of the old linoleum flooring and restoration of the original pine floors. We removed the small, solitary kitchen window and replaced it with a new, much larger, triple-pane window. The remodel also allowed us to update all the electrical and plumbing. All new lighting was installed as well as a set of new built-in speakers. The kitchen went over my original budget only because I fell in love with super expensive custom built cabinets. After making that decision how could I NOT go for the beautiful stainless appliances, and really nice faucets and hardware. It all paid off - the kitchen is magnificent and I really look forward to cooking.

Mark was response and we scheduled a visit about week from the telephone conversation. He was punctual and professional. Extremely friendly and interested in the project. I liked him and gained a sense that we would be in great hands were he to take on the project. The bid was long in coming: a couple of weeks (but he did warn me that he was very busy and it could be a week or two). Regrettably the bid was much more than the next closest. It was just too expensive. Some line items could be quite reasonable, but some, such as painting, was so high it calls into question all others. Again, after meeting Mark I was impressed and confident in his enthusiasm and skill, the only issue in not eagerly working with him was the price. Had it been slightly higher that wouldn't have been an issue. But it was so much higher I couldn't justify the choice.

Mark and I met a few times to discuss my plans for the new space. There was a lot to do down there! The work began with a complete demolition. The entire space which included many small rooms, was to be reworked, rebuilt. ALL the old walls came down, and new ones went up ... an old tool shed became a beautiful guest bathroom complete with tub. The washer and dryer were moved into a new space (the old concrete washtub hauled away; ducts needed to be rerouted ... the water heater and furnace were enclosed in louvered closet and new storage cabinets above the stairs were added ... the tiles was laid, carpet installed. The idea was to turn the old, cold, spidery basement into a workable space - one that wears many hats - but mainly serves as a guest suite and work space. The result was a complete success - the space is organized, clean, warm ... and very functional.
Description of Work: A complete basement remodel with addition of a full bathroom. Infuse redesigned the entire 800 sq ft space - taking it from a plain ... well, basement ... to a new work space/laundry room/pantry/guest suite with full bathroom. In addition to doing the majority of the work himself, Mark supervised all of the subcontractors including an electrician, plumber, painters, drywallers/mudders. The electrical needed to be completely updated and rewired; heat needed to be rerouted to the space; the new bathroom required updating the antiquated pluming with new copper and the addition of an ejection tank (which required tearing up the concrete floor.) In the bathroom Mark also installed the new pedestal sink, toilet, bathtub/shower, subway tile tub surround and hexagon floor tile. The remainder of the new floors were finished with a combination of large terracotta tile and carpet. A large work sink that I salvaged and refinished was also installed.

The project went very well. It was especially important to us that he was "green-minded." He is thoughtful about re-using, not only what we wanted put into our home, but also what he took out...as our old cabinets didn't end up in the landfill either, but went to someone's garage. Also, we appreciated his ability to work through a design in progress with consistent reassurance that it would all work out in the end...which it did!! Mark was timely, communicative, and patient while we muttled through the many, many decisions that are involved in such a project. He worked on an hourly basis, but gave us a general idea of the completion costs. Our project ended up costing us a bit more than we originally set aside for it, but this was based on some upgrades we made...not on an inadequate estimate by Mark.
Description of Work: Mark (and his team) completely remodeled our kitchen from design to completion. He started with the off-site removal of the used cabinets we purchased from a beautiful Madison Home park. Then he worked with us on some design ideas for our kitchen based on these cabinets while progressing with the general demolition. He opened up the area by moving a wall and a half, changed a window to French doors, finished the walls (inside and out), installed (actually "retro-fit") the "pre-owned" cabinets and installed new appliances. He removed the old debris and oversaw the refinishing of our 100 year old fir floors.
