+ -1 moreThey were friendly and good to deal with. They were easy going. It was quick. I just walked in and told them my problem and then they gave me a quote. I came back and it was done. They were good. It is hard to say about quality because there wasn’t much done on that. I would use them again for the same type of project.

+ -1 moreShe said one part wasn't screwed in tight enough or misaligned. She adjusted it and the light came right on! I'm sure I've purchased things from there before, but never had a service done. They were excellent!

+ -1 moreThere are very few sources for brass lamp parts these days. I guess people just throw out older lamps and buy new ones. They didn't suggest any other place for us to get a 6 1/2and quot; brass base. So we had to take the old brass lamp base to one of the only two silver and brass plating businesses in the Puget Sound area and it will cost over $400 to get it re-plated. And there is the reason that people throw out old lamps and get new ones. What kind of society is this anyway?
Description of Work: nothing much. Sold us 2 parts for rewiring the lap ourselves, but didn't have a base of the size we needed, and none of their sources had bases that size either.

+ -1 moreI have a 5 bulb spider lamp 9' from base to bulb. To move it it had to be dissasembled in the middle. The switch was broken, it was a tangle of 12 wires, and I could not get all bulbs to work. Replacement lamps were expensive and to my liking. I was ready to spend $100 -$200 to fix it. Went to Hanson as my first experience with Angie's list. When I picked up the lamp it had a new dimmer switch. The wires were neatly bundled and they installed a plug in the middle so as to savely and easily break it down into it's 2 sections. Fantastic. Service was friendly and honest. A local business. With some of the extra money I did not spend I bought a decorative lamp shade topper (elephant) for my wife. Check them out. Glad I drove all the way from Maple Valley.
Description of Work: Rewired lamp as needed. Installed dimmer switch. Installed male to female plug in center where the lamp comes apart for transport.

It came out looking fresh and modern. I just had it installed in my dining room and it looks fantastic. Thank you!

+ -1 moreI brought in a vintage light fixture and they put the pendant globes on a whole new canopy and wiring. It looks fantastic and I'm thrilled to have this piece of my family history to hang in my home. They helped me choose the canopy and the wiring. The cost of $139.00 was right where they estimated and was considerably less than I would have expected. The project did take a few days longer than I hoped but it is all good.

+ -1 moreHansen's is a small, local shop that does great work. My most recently repair took about 5-6 business days. I know from experience that they will inspect the work and call with an estimate, but this time around I knew the work would be inexpensive so I approved it when I dropped my lamps off and got them back a week later. For $65 dollars they repaired the dimmers on two table lamps. They also cleaned the lamps and tightened the assembly. They looked good new. I'll never take my lamps anywhere else. I love this place.
Description of Work: Hansen's has repaired three lamps for me in the last three years. The first was a compete restoration of 1900's era jade floor lamp. They cleaned each of the parts and replaced the aging wiring and sockets with safer, modern components while still preserving the original look. Recently, I they also fixed two dimmer sockets on two lamps that we burned out using non-dimmable CFLs.

+ -1 moreI dropped in with a light that did not work and within 2 minutes I had one that did. Awesome.
Description of Work: My father made me a lamp as a gift as I travelled to WA from CA. However, he did not test it and it did not work. Not understanding the inticacies of lamps, I looked on Angie's List and sawa couple good reviews for Hansen's. Jeff took the lamp and within 30 seconds (incredible) knew what the issue was. The contacts at the plug were not reaching so he did his magic and within another minute we had a functioning lamp. They charge $25/hr for labor so I asked him how much my repair would cost. he siad, "Nothing, just think about us in the future when you are looking for lighting." This is the kind of service and expertise one would not get at Lamps Plus, etc. and one only gets from a company that has been serving the Seattle area for over 70 years. Thanks Jeff, I'll be dropping in soon for the room light I will be installing this winter.

Description of Work: I went to the store to buy a new shade. My original shade was sitting too high on my lamp. Shades are very expensive but it was a very special lamp. When I explained my problem to the gentleman waiting on my he suggested that I just try a new harp. It worked beautifully and cost me $5.00 plus tax. I also have purchased a cover for an older ceiling light fixture. They were the only people that carried that cover. They are a special company.

+ -1 morePerfectly. What I appreciated was Hansen's willingness to supply parts (rather than insisting on my bringing the lamps in for work). I have bought carved wood bases from them, and lampshades. They have an excellent selection of shades and finials (I needed to replace some shades that were worn out). They were willing to cut the threaded rods I needed while I waited (only a couple of minutes), so that I was able to complete my project quickly.
Description of Work: I purchased parts to repair several lamps; as I am handy, I enjoy doing the work myself. Hansen's cut threaded rods to my measurements, and had all necessary sockets harps, etc., needed for the job.

+ -1 moreThe work was done quickly and our electrician said that the work had been done very well. The price was less than quoted, and they work fine and SAFELY!!
Description of Work: We were wrapping up a rewiring job and the electrician saw that two sconces needed some rewiring to be safe. He gave us Hansen's name and we called and talked to Pam. We explained the problem and asked if they could be done by the following day because our electrician would be gone after that. She said to bring them in and she'd take a look and do her best to have them for us by the next day. The following morning she called to let us know they were ready to pick up!
