Service from estimate in June to actual move in September was outstanding. very professional operation. I want to specifically commend Rick, Chase, Antonio, and Bryan for their exceptional work ethic, positive attitudes, and overall outstanding performance. They were "fun" to work. They asked questions when they had them; they worked very well as a team, and their overall performance spoke very well for Hansen Bros. Moving and for them as industrious young men. That is not always easy to find nowadays. You are lucky to have them as employees. They are a credit to Hansen Bros!!

Estimate time was scheduled for June 19th at noon. I received an email confirmation that the sales person would be at our home at noon. At 11:57 he called to ask if he could change the call to sometime later in the day, he was running a little late. I informed him that wasn't possible. I told him that I had rescheduled my 11:AM and noon meetings to meet him. I called the Hansen Bros. office asked for a manager, I was put on hold for a couple of minutes and then asked if someone could call me back because the manager was busy. I said no. After four or five minutes on hold a manager apologized for the inconvenience. His excuse for his sales person: he was in a sales meeting with the boss which ran late and as a result, the sales person was running way behind. Poor execution, poor professionalism, don't bother!

Our experience with the sales rep. was very good. He was prompt and courteous. Their rates were very competitive. We purchased boxes from them and tried to pack as much as possible to keep the costs down. They offered used boxes at minimum to no cost. They arrived the day before moving to check in on the packers. Unfortunately, the packers were very inexperienced. It took much longer than expected to pack our home for shipment the next day. The moving van was a few hours late to arrive due to mechanical failure of headlights. They dropped off two movers who staged things to the lower floor and garage. Come to find out one of the two movers was a friend of the driver's and had only done this a few times before. He was training a brand new guy. Upon arrival at our destination, who shows up? The driver and the brand new guy to unload all of our contents. Two men to unload, inventory, stage, and load again into our storage facility. It took FOREVER in the heat of Florida's parking lot. And, I fed them lunch. We were there for a good 9 hours. The van did arrive on time and they did call us the night before as promised. Unfortunately, upon arrival, many items were already damaged or were damaged upon unloading. The claims agent was very helpful. In summary, we were extremely disappointed with the packing and driving crew who Allied Van Lines had hired. In hindsight, I would scrutinize a moving company based upon those who hire their own drivers and have a history with the company versus outsourcing drivers/packers.
Description of Work: Hansen Brothers provided services for us through Allied Van Lines to pack and move our household goods across country. If I was just rating the contact we had with Hansen Brothers for the estimate, supplies, cost, etc., the rating would be an A or B. Unfortunately, the van line(Allied) that they are affiliated with was not a good experience and has a huge impact on our overall rating.

t was a long time ago, but I just joined Angie's list and when I saw this company had an 'A' rating I felt compelled to write. I don't normally like to write poor reviews but in this case it is absolutely justified and necessary. I moved about one miles, from one house to another. The first thing they did wrong was horizontally wrap my console piano (with curved, fragile legs) in plastic wrap~ tightly. When I told the mover to please not do that, that the legs were fragile and I was afraid the pressure of the wrapping could cause the legs to snap, he replied, 'lady we're movers, we know what we're doing'. The second thing was they did not wrap any mirrors or antiques in moving blankets. They threw boxes into the van. And it took them 45 minutes to go 1.3 miles, from Phinney Ridge to Fremont. Of course I was paying by the hour. Needless to say, the piano was destroyed. Both legs broken. I don't have many antiques or pieces of delicate furniture.. but the few I do have, mean something, and virtually every single thing I owned of value was broken or damaged. The top to my dresser mirror ~ snapped off, the marble top to my wash stand, broken in two. One arm and one leg to my handmade vintage rocker, broken. The damage to the piano alone was devastating. Granted, they did hire someone to come out and Glue The Legs Back On, but it was never the same and I ultimately had to give the instrument away. They were consistently rude when I attempted to talk with them about this horrible experience. Overall, it was just devastating. I can't believe they are still in business.
Description of Work: I hired Hansen Bros to move me from Phinney Ridge to Fremont, and move of less than 2 miles.

When they arrived to deliver our belongings, they open the vault and started to remove things. I was horrified that there were multiple items belonging to someone else (they don't know who). (a large dresser, 2 large bookcases, and 3 storage boxes with electronics, CDs, etc.). Then they started to drag out my coffee table. I told them "stop!" It was not wrapped with padding, and they were dragging it on its side. Needless to say, it badly marred the edge of a beautifully lacquered table. One of the pieces to the cradle was missing, so it is not able to be set up either. Things get worse. They only had one of my 4 carpets. I spoke to the warehouse manager on the phone, and he said "no problem, we keep large carpets piled in a separate area, and many of them are not labeled. So please send me a photo of the missing carpets and we'll try to locate it." What?? They found one of them. But, not the other two. One of these is irreplaceable--we bought it during a family trip to Egypt before the revolution. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! They mix your belongings with other people's. They lose stuff, and they wreck stuff. They apologized, promised to work with me and my insurance company. They promised to have a furniture repairman come fix the scratches in my table. Instead, they have "run for the hills." Then they mailed a check to me for $180 with a letter "your claim has been settled. Hansen Bros. Transfer & Storage is considering your claim closed." My damages and losses are approximately $30,000. IF YOU VALUE YOUR POSSESSIONS, DO NOT USE HANSEN'S MOVING & STORAGE!!
Description of Work: One year ago, Hansen's picked up a few items from our home (4 rugs and pads, 2 tables, a cradle, and a couch). They were placed in the van at pickup, and we were told they would be placed in a wood vault dedicated to our possessions. In October of this year, we had them redeliver the goods to our same home. Then the disaster was revealed.

TERRIBLE Dishonest estimate. While we paid the estimated amount, they sued us for more than the estimated amount. The estimate was about $13,000. If the final had been $15,000, I would have been fine with that, but in the end we paid them nearly $30,000, rather than take on the cost of legal defense, which would probably have cost us more than what we paid out. NEVER NEVER NEVER use this moving company.
Description of Work: NEVER NEVER NEVER use this moving company. We selected Hansen Bros because they are an old line local company AND they provided the best estimate of the 3 or 4 we received. In fact, their estimate was about half of the highest estimate. Unfortunately, their estimate was worthless because at the end of the process, we were charged more than twice the estimate.

They were horrible!! They were punctual however that was the only thing they did right. They tried to overcharge me regardless of the fact that they are regulated by the State. Because we were moving only a mile away they decided it best to use 2 small trucks to run between the houses. I was continually going between the two homes to answer questions and they had my cell number to call in case they needed me at one of the locations. When they were nearly done packing up the house they asked me to come do a walk thru. The foreman very quickly walked me through to verify which items were being left behind for staging the old house to sell. We verbally verified and I clearly marked the items (all large furniture pieces). When we did the walk thru there were still 4 guys still packing. They worked very hard and very fast so when we settled the bill I tipped them generously with cash regardless of the dispute with the estimate, which they told me I had to settle with the office. After they were gone and over the next week we realized they had left approximately 20% of my belongings at the old house. Two entire closets not packed. All the contents of a dresser and a nightstand in the master bedroom, even though the other nightstand's contents were packed. None of the laundry room. Half the family room, etc. It took my husband and I another full day to pack and move everything they left behind! Two weeks later we learned my son had left $300 cash in his dresser drawer (which they had actually packed), and it was gone. So not only did they try to overcharge me, they only did 80% of the job, broke a number of items, and stole from me!! And when I called the office to complain, they said it was my fault for not doing a proper walk thru with the foreman! When I told my realtor my experience, she told me she had a similar experience with them. They are absolutely unprofessional and in my opinion, thieves!
Description of Work: Hansen Brothers was selected due to their reasonable bid and their reputation. My family was moving only a mile away so a very quick, easy move. They were hired to pack the entire household, with the exception of a few pieces of furniture which were clearly marked and verbally confirmed.

I liked them very much. They were very good. The price is dictated by the Transportations and Utilities Committee. We have no control over that. I had fun with the fellows that they sent. They had sent enough fellows and they had scoped the move-out enough ahead of time that they knew what to expect like the egress, stairs and so on. By the end f the day they were very tired but they had done everything I had asked and everything had come. They were the kind of people you would want to give a tip to.

I am extremely happy with Hansen's, and i would use them again in a heartbeat. When their rep came out to estimate the cost of our move, I was surprised at the quote. How could it possibly take two days to move us? When the moving date came, we realized how right he was. It really did take two days and three trucks, and those guys worked very hard. We had four guys come the first day with two trucks, and then three of them returned for the second day with one truck. They were courteous, right on time both days, professional, friendly, and they worked until the job was done and did it cheerfully. Our whole family was hugely impressed with them. They were kind to my kids and to my visiting parents. In fact, my parents, after seeing them work, are now hiring them for their move in June. I also have to put in a good word for the dispatch guys. I had to reschedule our move approximately five times, it was just ridiculous. The sale of our house kept developing one complication after another, and the closing date was shifting around every week. But they never complained in the office! Every time I called and had to sheepishly admit that I needed them to change the date again, they were friendly and obliging, saying it was no problem, and they'd once again accommodate our new moving day. I never heard a single complaint. We ended up being forced to move on Easter Sunday, and they didn't charge us extra. Besides all that, in the end we had the nice surprise of them discovering they'd overshot the estimate a bit and we were charged $300 less then we were expecting! Our family has used professional movers three times before this, and if I had to put those others on a scale, I'd rate them 5-6, but I'd give Hansen's a solid 10. Hopefully, now that we finally have this house, we won't need to move again anytime soon, but when we do, I'll be calling Hansen's again, and recommending them to all our friends.
Description of Work: Hansen's moved our household (consisting of 3 adults and 2 children) from Shoreline to Ballard in April of 2011. First they had a guy come out a couple weeks before the move, to estimate the cost by calculating the weight of our things, and then they moved us over the course of two days.

I contacted three movers. One never responded to my email and the other was slightly more expensive. I ultimately chose Hansen because of a personal referral and because they provided an estimate based on looking at my stuff. Brian came over, looked at my stuff and provided an estimate on how many hours the move would take and the price. The movers showed up promptly on the scheduled date. They were professional and polite and completed the job almost exactly at the estimated time frame. I appreciated that the movers found creative ways to make the move more efficient, finding the easiest route to a room through a window for example. It helped the move complete within the estimated time frame and not go into overtime.

They underbid the project. I think they sub-contracted to Bekins, who knew it right away. They rushed through the job. Didn't put any kind of protection on doorways and floors, as they claimed they would do. They left a huge amount of stuff, which we had to go back for. In addition, they tried to trick my husband into paying the new price. WA state law says that you do not have to pay more then 25% above the written estimate, and we refused to pay more then that. They were rough with our stuff, but mostly stuff that you can't collect money for. Like my son's art work, and things they felt weren't important, they just jammed into boxes. They were also clearly looking for anything x-rated. We tried to move some of our more personal items ourselves, but my husband forgot an old photo, and it was clear that is was passed around by the movers. They also made passes at me (the wife). They are also continuing to bill us, and calling it a mistake. As my teenager said, we felt violated.

THE MOVING COMPANY FROM HELL!!!!!! NOT ONLY DID THEY SCRATCH AND GOUGE MOST OF MY FINE CUSTOM BUILT FURNITURE, THEY DID NOT DELIVER AN ITEM.. THEY POKED A LARGE HOLE IN THE BEDROOM DOOR, TOOK 3 WEEKS AND MANY PHONE CALLS TO GET IT REPAIRED. FINALLY IT WAS REPAIRED SATISFACTORILY. THE GENERAL MANAGER, JIM MUETING HAS BEEN TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNCOOPERATIVE. IT'S BEEN FIVE WEEKS WITH NO RESOLUTION TO ANY OF THE PROBLEMS. WHEN ASKED, HE CLAIMS I HAVE THE MISSING ITEM, BOTTOM LINE CALLING ME A LIAR. THE COMPANY, HANSEN BROS WANTS TO REFER TO FIX MY DAMAGED FURNITURE, WHEN ASKED FOR REFERENCES, SAID "OH, I DON'T PROVIDE REFERENCES" WHEN ASKED OF JIM MUETING HE SAYS, "WE ARE HIS REFERENCE!" I AM 65 YEARS OLD HAVE MOVED MANY TIMES IN MY LIFE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A SCRATCH OR ANYTHING LOST OR BROKEN BY A MOVER. ADDITIONAL NOTE:THE MOVING CREW CONTINUALLY COMPLAINED ABOUT THE STAFF WHO DID THE ESTIMATE, SAYING EVERYONE HE HAS DONE WAS WRONG! WITH MINE, THEY SENT A TRUCK THAT WAS TOO SMALL.
Description of Work: MOVED PERSONAL HOUSEHOLD FROM HUNTS POINT TO ISSAQUAH. THEY SENT A TRUCK THAT WAS TOO SMALL, NEEDED TO DO A SECOND LOAD AND WANTED ME TO PAY THEM FOR OVERTIME FOR THEIR MISTAKE!!!!! EVEN THOUGH THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THEIR STAFF WHO ESTIMATED THE MOVE, WAS IN ERROR! I AM INFORMING ALL MY BUSINESS ASSOCIATES AND THE CLIENTS I REPRESENT TO NEVER, NEVER USE THIS FIRM AND THE REASONS WHY. NEVER HAVE I HEARD ONE WORD FROM JIM MUETING RE AN APOLOGY FOR THE DAMAGE TO MY FURNITURE AND THE ENORMOUS HASSLE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE ONLY REASON I USED HANSEN BROS, IS BECAUSE MY REALTOR RECOMMENDED THEM. HE IS AWARE OF ALL THE PROBLEMS AND HAS EXAMINED ALL THE DAMAGED FURNITURE & TAKEN PICTURES. THE REALTOR HAS TRIED TO HELP, HOWEVER HE HAS ALSO EXPERIENCED MAJOR COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS WITH HANSEN BROS. EVEN SO RUDE AS TO NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS TO MY REALTOR AND, YES I PURCHASED THE FULL VALUE PROTECTION WITH THE $300 DEDUCTIBLE.
