Description of Work: Hansen Brothers moved us from an apartment to a house down the street. They were good, the move went well. The only issue was that they showed up a couple of hours late.

Description of Work: The price also included piano moving with a lot of stairs which would have cost me an additional $350 plus if done separately. Included 4 men so got it done very quickly. Very responsive and thoughtful to directions. Showed up with two large trucks even though ended up using one. I loved that they were so prepared. They have been in business for a long time an have a great track record.

Description of Work: Hansen was one of three companies I consulted before moving across country. Although I chose another company based on their experience with long-distance moves, Hansen gets an "A" from me for responsiveness & punctuality (two visits, to double-check amount of items being moved), "A" for price (right in the ballpark with other firms). Although I can't comment on quality, would give an "A" for professionalism by both office and field agent. I would call them again for another move.

Description of Work: NEVER USE HANSEN BROS.!!!! Like the 1/2/13 reviewer, I am a new Angie's List member. When I saw this company was on the List, I felt compelled to write about my experience even though this happened long ago. My problems with them (details follow): my grandmother's wedding ring was stolen; they use illegal aliens; I had to ask them to wrap my good furniture, especially an antique chest (or it would not have been done); and then at the end I was put in a position where I was compelled to tip them. The details are as follows: My apartment complex went condo and I purchased a unit in the building next door to my apartment building (in other words, very close--in a short walking distance). I hired Hansen's to pack and move me. On moving day, a team of 3 arrived at my door---an English-speaking supervisor (or team lead) and 2 non-English speaking men--a father and son from Mexico, I was told. The supervisor packed my bedroom and clothes (out of sight from the 2 Mexicans), while the father and son packed my kitchen, dining room and living room. When they started to move my furniture, I had to ask them to keep blankets on the furniture to protect it! At the end of the move, I was put in a position by the supervisor where I had to also give them a tip. I have wondered since then if the"tip" was the actual pay for the illegal aliens (so that Hansen's did not have to actually "hire" them as "employees")......hey, just wondering! The worst, most devastating part was that after the move, I remembered that I had forgotten to remove my grandmother's wedding ring from its hiding place in the living room (which the Mexican son was packing up). When I finally unpacked that box, I was absolutely heartsick because the ring was gone. The thief would have heard the ring rattling around when he packed the item it was hidden in. Well, I called the police, but the trail was cold. I also wrote Hansen Bros. a letter, but they did not have the courtesy to even reply. In that letter, I told them that they had a thief working for them; and that while I could not do anything about the theft, what I could do was tell everyone I knew to NEVER use Hansen Bros. And I am happy to have a chance to warn even more people about this terrible company. NEVER USE HANSEN BROS.!

Description of Work: Hansen Bros estimator came to our business. We were preparing to move, a big task after 19 years at the old location. He spend hours viewing our furniture, fixtures and equipment. He explained what the company would do and what we had to do. Of three estimates, this was the lowest by a lot. Their estimate was $13,000. The next was $19,000 and the last was $26,000. BUT THIS WORKED OUT VERY BADLY. Hansen Bros apparently underestimated the cost of the move. Their initial billing came in at nearly $20,000. I understand estimate vs final. BUT you use a professional so that you don't get surprised. If the $13,000 estimate had become $14,300 (up 10%) that would have been REASONABLE. But it came in about 50% higher than they estimated. I tried to be reasonable but they would not budge. Then a year passed and they sued us for nearly $30,000. In the end I had to settle rather than spend another $5,000 in arbitration with no guarantees. I think this is a predatory moving company. I believe this was set up from the outset. DO NOT USE HANSEN BROS IN SEATTLE. They are not to be trusted, despite being a local business that is over 100 years old (that was part of why I trusted them).
