GREAT PAINT JOB

He started the job before I was ready for him. I came home surprised to see the first coat of paint and there were certain things I'd wanted to discuss with him. He didn't prep the house well, the primer bubbled and he partially scraped that and painted over it. It's peeling after just a few years. My neighbor hired one of the guys directly without the owner. Good for him. I wish I had thought of that.

The initial consultation with Richard went well and he seemed to have good advice, so I felt it would be okay. I was a little confused about the process and was surprised to find his crew at work on my house when I got home from work - I hadn't expected them as we hadn't discussed the details of what I wanted done. He dismissed my ideas and having no experience with painters, I sort of cowed, so I learned a lesson there. Some decisions he made were a little iffy. In particular, the siding really needed to be scraped down more because the original paint was poorly primed and I had intended to talk with him about it, but it was already painted when I got home. His prep work was terrible and as a result the paint bubbled, he scraped a little of that and painted over it again, and it's still bubbled several years later and is starting to peel where the old paint was peeling. There's some paint spray left on the windows, his crew seemed quite listless. From a distance, the house looks good, and they did a nice job on the wood trim - they seemed to take a little more time with that, but up close ... bubbles.

I would caution against using Richard Mowry (Great Paint) for any project. There is poor supervision of the team, they cut corners that leave the project incomplete and shoddily done. When questioned, Richard became defensive, belligerent and blamed unrelated circumstances for the poor work. I will have their work re-done this summer.

We were generally pleased with the work performed. The crew worked efficiently and finished the project in approximately 3-4 days. The paint color matched as expected and the work quality appears good. We were a bit disappointed that our window shades were left with dirty finger prints and small paint spots, but other than that were happy with the service and price.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. THEY WERE LESS EXPENSIVE THAN OTHERS THAT I CALLED. THE EXTERIOR PAINTING WAS MEDIOCRE AND NOT AS PROFESSIONAL AS I WANTED. THEY LEFT SOME WORK UNFINISHED.
