custom cabinets
 + -1 moreFurniture by Foss was extremely helpful in helping me find a craftsman that would do the job, even though it meant they didn't get my business. Because their furniture saws were different than the type a miller uses to saw whole logs, they suggested a miller who could do the cutting job for less than they could do it with their saw. Even though I didn't actually give them my business, I would go to them in the future for furniture projects. They were helpful, honest, and kind, and their mission was to help people with their furniture projects, even when that meant giving the work to another craftsman if it would be a better deal for the customer.
Description of Work: I called Furniture by Foss to ask if they could do a custom cut of a vase shaped pedestal base which was unusually shaped, solid wood, and very thick. They were extremely helpful and took time to explain what the procedure would entail, and what it would cost. Because the pedestal was very large, and round, it would require a custom built form to keep it steady while being cut. After calculating the approximate amount of hours to construct the form, they kindly suggested that I might be able to save money if it was cut at a miller, They provided me with the name of a craftsman, A. J. Mearns, who did the job at his saw mill, the type that cuts huge logs into wood. I was able to have my pedestal cut for much less. I was very impressed with Foss for caring enough to help me solve my furniture problem, even though they didn't get my business. I would highly recommend this company.

 + 0 moreThese Brothers are carring on a family tradition in quality workmanship. Their father Harold Foss was a close family friend and I wouldn't go anywhere else with my projects... they do the work on time. to a level of quality above and beyond the norm. Highly Recomended.
Description of Work: built and installed some custom book cabinets. also stained and finished all of the VG fir doors in our new house. Art Foss built the Cabinets and Eric Foss Stained and Finished the Doors

Description of Work: Furniture by Foss has repaired some woodwork and drilled holes through speakers. He does small jobs as well as furniture building.

custom cabinets
 + -1 moreWe walked into this small shop with a rough idea of what we wanted in a cabinet, and they sat down and sketched out our cabinet. They came up with an estimate based on the best wood and materials for a bathroom project. The cost was comparable to pre-made cabinets we had looked at, but were never exactly right in size or look. The wood used can be painted, or stained, and finished and looks great. The quality of the piece is evident, and they made it so exact that it slid perfectly into the framed out space in the wall.
Description of Work: Built a custom "medicine cabinet", 48" x 35" x 6" of solid poplar with shelves and metal tracks for glass doors.
