After searching other dealers we concluded Frank Door Store is the only place to find a new door and hardware. We received excellent and personalized advice about our choices to replace the dated double front doors of our house. Their selection is large and the many examples gave us several options to consider. The entire process from selection to order to finish and delivery to our home went just as scheduled and we are very happy with the result and glad we did business with this door store

My husband and I went in to shop for a "statement" entry door for our brand new home (by brand new I mean construction starts next week.) We viewed a rather nice selection of doors, found a style we liked and had to track down someone to help us. We were in there about 20 minutes before ANYONE acknowledged us. At that point we showed the associate the door we were thinking of and asked questions about changing the glass. He was helpful enough to that point with information about time and other details. He opened a computer screen for us to view the glass insert options. We found one, then noticed the associate on an apparent phone call. Okay, it's Saturday, lost of work to do. He did several things besides talk on the phone before returning to ask if we found one. We said yes, then he turned and walked off somewhere else before we could ask additional questions we had. (Who's an expert on purchasing new front door?) While he was off busy with his new task, a different associate asked if we needed help, he seemed to question something then got the "okay" from someone at a desk. Since, this is a new person, we're pretty much starting over. We explain what we want and attempt to show him the building plans for our home, so he could see the set up we need. At that point he said "you need to know what you want". Is that not the job of the associate, to help customers who DON'T do doors for a living? He did eventually glance at our plans to see a "side light", I believe he said. He didn't notice the extra top glass panes over the door. He still seemed more interested in finding customers who "knew what they wanted". At that point we left to search for doors from a different retailer. In the course of about 45 minutes and two associates, they lost out on a potential $3k+ sale from us AND the business of our good friend who also happened to be looking for a new front door.

Went to Frank Lumber and Door August 14th to buy a front door. I have bought a door from them previously. Found what I wanted and then asked a sales person questions regarding the quality of this specific wood door vs. others and my questions were answered to my satisfaction. Ordered that door and paid a $300.00 deposit. Made an appt. to bring my old front door to the store to use as a template to cut the new door to size. Brought the old door to the store August 18th at 8:00 A.M. They said they would call me when it was done and did so at approx. 10:00. Went back to store and they loaded both doors in my truck. Paid the remaining balance and home. They don't install doors but they have a list of preferred providers for you to choose from if you wish. I did use one and it is worth noting that when the installer heard the door was from Frank Door he didn't even bother measuring the door to carefully as he stated if they did it there won't be a problem.
Description of Work: Needed a front door cut to the dimensions of the old door and recesses made for the hinges and holes for the lockset and deadbolt.

It was great! The doors came out beautifully!!! They also recommended Jack's Construction for installation, and that went fantastically well! Frank Lumber's recommendations for thickness, glass, and color were spot-on. And they worked very well with Jack's Construction so that we didn't have to worry about a thing. I'd definitely recommend both of them again!

First, they told me $2500 for the doors. They did not tell me that the doors I said I wanted were on close-out. So when I sent my carpenter to the store to firm up all the details, the price went up $1300 to $3800. Then, they placed the hinges on the opposite side from what my plans specified. They failed to load 2 of my doors, so my carpenter had to return to the store. And then they did not want to take responsibility for that. Very very disappointing.

Frank's Lumber is indeed "the door store". We found a very nice door there that we are very happy with. But a nice quality door will cost, be ready for that. The door itself cost about $3k and the installation (by separate contractor) was about $2.5k. The door is very high quality, beautiful grain and nicely constructed. That said, it was missing the dentil shelf we'd asked for. Also, part of the trim was primed with white paint which prevented us from going with our original plan to do stain everywhere on the outside, even though we'd shared that information as part of the order process. Even with these issues, however, the door is beautiful and we're quite happy with the door itself. What didn't go well for us was the whole process of arranging the installation and finishing work. Frank's set us up with a good contractor (Bruce Morse), but it seemed to take a long time to get everything finalized. We started the whole process in early September, but it was November by the time the door got installed -- and fall rains were closing in. The guy Bruce had in mind to do the finishing said he didn't want to finish the door before it was hung, that it would be better to do the finishing after it was hung even though it was clear that the weather was changing. As it was, we had the door in our garage for two weeks before Bruce had time to hang it and that would have been an ideal time to finish it. I now wish we'd done that ourselves, but at the time was worried about finishing such an expensive door myself, preferring an expert due to the investment. This turned out to be a mistake. After the door was installed (nice job by Bruce), it turned out his finishing guy really didn't have a lot of experience with stain nor was he very concerned about whether our door was protected from the elements or not and we ended up doing it ourselves anyway after his botched attempt. It was a pretty awkward and lengthy experience trying to get a coat of Benite, the stain, and then six coats of teak oil (we had to stop after four) on there through a typical rainy Seattle November. And we still won't know if we had cure issues until spring. I had to work from home several days waiting for teak oil to dry, and there were lots of cold Saturdays with the front door left open. In hindsight, it would have been *so* much better to do the finishing while the door was still in the garage, warm and dry in October when it wasn't already hung and when it was easy to get at all six sides. Here's what I'd do differently next time: 1) I'd still get the door from Frank Lumber 2) I'd make sure to talk to one of the older sales reps who have loads of experience 3) I'd ask for an estimate for getting the door finished by Frank's (we were told it was too "expensive" but better to know the cost) 4) I'd ask for a sample piece of the same wood the door is made of to help choose the stain 5) I'd take that wood sample to Daly's Paint Store where they can paint multiple samples of stain on the wood 6) I'd take the samples home to see them in the environment to choose the stain 7) I'd finish the door - or have it finished - before hanging it

Horrible Experience. $13,000 dollar order for two houses. I have the drawings from sales person on what we ordered. Apparently, one of the sets of doors we ordered, a french door, Codel with blinds, was not available in the size of one of our doors that we ordered. So the salesman changed the order to match the front doors of the house. So now we have doors in our great room that look identical to our front doors that have privacy glass. Why would you put privacy glass on french doors off a balcony that are sandwiched between two sets of nine foot windows? Sales person insists we talked about it....we didn't talk about it I would not put privacy glass on a balcony door off of a great room that already has huge picture windows. If you have to get your doors from this store, get a signed copy on what you are agreeing to order. If you don't get something signed you might just end up with a surprise of a set of doors that make no sense aesthetically to the flow or your home. I now have $2000 worth of doors I didn't order. Thanks a lot Lyle, awesome job. So incredibly disappointed in this transaction, and the sales person saying he is "so sorry".

I can't thank Frank's Door Store enough for their quality service and products. My sidelites were leaking next to my front door and needed to be replaced quickly. I went in with my measurements and got exactly what I had been looking for to replace my door and sidelites. What's even better was that it was delivered within just a couple weeks! The delivery guy, Jarred, went above and beyond to ensure our order was placed in a safe spot and even wrapped it up to protect it from the elements while we waited for it to be installed.

It was a bad experience at several points. It was difficult to get information after placing the order, on the phone or even going to the store. Only the person who wrote up the order knew anything, so you had to get lucky and be there when the person you had dealt with was there. Some of these people were incredibly bad about returning phone calls. The sliding door was ordered to be finished, but when it arrived on site the interior side was still bare wood. The response from Franks was and quot;those come with the wood unfinishedand quot; even though we were clear we needed the doors finished and thought that was what we were paying for. The exterior was finished, poorly. There are missing spots. When we reported this it got a shrug. We wanted to be sure the exterior color of the sliding door matched that of the french door. They could not find the paperwork from the french door, so we picked what we thought was the correct color. What they did not tell us was the color pallettes were not the same for the two doors. Now we have to find out how to prep the sliding door and paint it the correct color, in addition to doing the clear finish on the interior we thought we had ordered and paid for. Frank's business process is primarily paper and individual employee based and it can make it very difficult to deal with them, especially depending on who you are dealing with. We don't plan to deal with Frank Lumber again.
Description of Work: We bought french doors, and then a matching sliding door. We bought a solid core bedroom door, pre-hung, and had 3 existing doors refinished and one of them pre-hung. This was done in 3 separate transactions.

Frank Lumber/The Door Store has a very large staff; I was assisted by Kevin, who made sure the whole process moved smoothly. First, he figured out what type of door I needed based on a photo I provided. He checked on the special order price for me and ordered the door, which came the next day. I took in the old door to provide accurate measurements for the placement of the hardware. He said that the door would be mortised and drilled and ready to go the following week. When I expressed dismay at being without a bathroom door for a week (I had out of town company coming, and it would have been quite awkward not to have a bathroom door during their visit), he put a rush on the order, and it was ready the next day. The service I received was exceptional in every respect. The Door Store was recommended to me by my contractor, and I can easily see why he likes to do business there.

We recently had 2 doors made by Frank's Doorstore. The salesman, Matthew, was very professional and followed up with us several times to make sure the order was placed correctly. The doors were delivered about a week sooner than we expected, and the workmanship is beautiful. Frank's is more expensive than big box stores, but the cost is definitely worth the finished product.

I discovered their store while having shoe orthotics made at a business adjacent to their parking lot. What makes this place special is that they will allow customers to remove a door at their homes, bring the door to the store, and have a custom made replacement door that fits exactly into the same door frame, hinges, lockset, and everything. They carry a large stock of doors and what they don't carry you can special order. In my case, I wanted to replace my existing backdoor with a door that has a large dog door in it. The existing door had panels in it. In order to have a good fit, a dog door requires a flush surface. When I broght my old door to the store and they immediately suggested I replace it with a fiberglass door because it was a standard size and needed no height or width tailoring. The exact door I needed required a flush surface so they had to special order it and it took about 1.5 weeks to arrive. I purchased a special dog door separately that had double flaps in order to minimize air leakage. I gave them the installation template from the dog door box and they flawlessly cut the hole in the door and pre-drilled the screw holes. The top half of the door had a large sliding window with a screen. I installed the dog door and lockset hardware my self when I got home. Everything fit flawlessly. The door I have now is really sweet and my dog loves it. I took the old door and put it in the garage in case the next owner of the house prefers not to have a dog door. The fiberglass door cost half as much as a wooden door and is more durable. I couldn't be more pleased. I needed to replace my front door maily because I had done a hack job on putting in a dog door myself. I wanted a new door without the dog door because I was in the process of moving my dog's fenced in area to the back of my house. My existing front door was not a standard stock size. I couldn't find anything to replace it at any of the big box stores. However, Frank Lumber The Door Store can tailor make doors or, as in my case, take a large door and trim it down to fit. My new door is made of fur and has a set of 8 each 5and quot;x5and quot; decorative windows built into the top. Even though they had to trim an inch off each side of the door and cut a few incheds off the bottom the door hangs perfectly in the old door frame. I haven't installed the lockset hardware yet, but based on my experience with the backdoor, I am sure I will have no problem. I am currently in the process of sealing, staining, and putting on a clear polyeurathane coat. When it is done it will look good and work perfectly. Yay! I feel really fortunate that I found this store and highly recommend it. I worked with a different salesman for each door and both of them were friendly, conscientious, and easy to work with. Even the guy in the workshop who tailored my doors was impressive with his attention to detail and concern for my getting exactly what I wanted. Based on my own personal experience, I absolutely recommend using this place for replacement doors.

You guys are great, we were so pleased with your customer service that you went above and beyond on a busy Saturday to find us a door sill to match our broken one and then when you found it on a discard pile and said there was no charge that was truly over the top. Because of this kind of service we will use this company to replace a sliding glass patio door with a new French style door when we're ready to do that. You just don't find service and quality like this anymore. You can tell these guys have been in the business for a long time because they truly care about customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: We went to the showroom looking for a replacement door sill for our front door. There was nothing that was a match on the floor and we almost walked out when one of the salesmen said he would look downstairs and be right back. He came back with an exact match to the one that was broken and said he found it on a discard pile and there would be no charge for it. We were amazed at that kind of service in this day in age.

They are very helpful and knowledgeable. They take the time to explain things to you. They definitely have the biggest inventory or ability to obtain doors of any place around. The only other choice we have is lawns or home depot. They have 2 offices, but, if you asked anybody who is a long time resident here, it is not trying to get the least expensive thing. That is one good product. This is the place for you to go and everybody knows it. You don't have to stand around for half an hour waiting for somebody to help you. And they all know their products very well. They are very awesome.

What we like about this is that you can bring your old door and they will build a new door and use your old hardware. You can bring your door in without having to measure it and they will duplicate it. They have a very quick turn around time and a very high quality. They are top notch. We know several other people that have used them too and that's why we used them is off of recommendations from them.

We needed a new front door. We checked at the big box stores and several other door stores. We decided to visit Frank Lumber. Chet was really nice and patient with us and helped us find the right door and the right hardware for us. We went back and forth several times on the type of door we should get. Chet was always very patient, very prompt in answering my questions and sending new quotes. Although they were not the cheapest, Chet professionalism gave us confidence that we would get a quality product or else he would totally handle it until we do. We ordered the door and it was ready in the time promised. We love our door. Our friends and neighbors comment on it, even the mailman and the guy that picks up the trash. They all comment that our new and quot;woodand quot; door is beautiful. It's fiberglass :-)

Ordered a new front door from catalog they provided. Framed and ready to install. When the door arrived we found it came from their factory and not from the catalog factory and the color (natural fir) was nothing like the example we picked. I wanted to refuse the door but the manager insisted that it would darken to the tone we originally chose. So I brought it home, had it installed and two months later, same color as when we picked it up. Not darkening at all. I am not happy with the door color, or Frank's response to my concerns about it Now that it's installed, I cannot return. I would not use these guys again for anything but closet doors. If you want to make sure you get the door you want, go somewhere else.

This place is unbelievable. They stock every imaginable door shape, size and style, easily accessible in a well-lit storeroom with friendly staff. Whether you're just browsing for ideas or have a particular door in mind already, you'll be comfortable. You don't get the evil eye or dismissive attitude some suppliers give if you're obviously not a contractor (which we're not). We had started at the nearby big-box Home Depot and Lowes stores, which didn't stock what we needed though were willing to order for a somewhat high price. Frank's blows away their selection, a good reminder not to over-rely on the and quot;big boxesand quot;, as specialty stores can be wonderful! Seattle has some great plumbing, electrical and hardware specialists... but I digress. Once we found the door we needed, we asked the clerk to recommend finishing products. He was very helpful, even recommending techniques for best results. I don't know when we'll need a door again, but we would certainly go here first.
