FPM Construction

.The deck and driveway were demolished in one day each. The patio framing was completed and the patio poured and stamped - it looked great. The gravel/clay under the old driveway was very wet, so it was allowed to dry out for several days. The driveway was framed and then the cement poured and stamped. It also looked good. Then,the sidewalk was framed, poured and brush finished. After several days, the stamped cement was given a seal coat. The crew came and went throughout the days - we never were sure who was going to show up. David, the foreman, was hard to get ahold of and didn't always show up when he said he would. His crew was very messy and didn't do a good cleanup of the work area or surrounding lawn areas. There remain several things that need to be finished, but we can't get David to come out and do the work: - seal several places that they missed. - remove cement spatter on our outbuilding door and siding. - fix a patch on the edge ofthe patio landing. - clean up the cement debris left from the framing. - Replace sections of the patio and driveway where cracks have developed. Before the job was started, I asked David about a warrenty on their work. He said that it wasn't needed, if there were any problems, just give him a call and he would come out and fix them. Well that hasn't worked so far! We are considering taking the company to Small Claimes Court.

It was very bad. They still have not completed it to our satisfaction. They are sloppy. Their work is poor. Some of it was okay. They don't show up. They left splattered concrete. I think we are going to sand off. There are patches that are scarred. It is a bad job. They won't answer our phone calls now. The price was very good.

I had two quotes in hand and was getting ready to make a decision. The owner of NFO constrution was working in the neighborhood and saw me working outside and asked if I had any hardscape projects I'd like quoted. Good timing! I walked him through the project and he went back to his truck for 20 minutes and came back with a quote that was 50% lower than the lowest bid. He gave me some references and showed some pictures of his work. Everything checked out. I had him start the next Monday. It took a lot longer than anyone expected to dig out the old flower bed and dig out the roots. Once done they did a solid job putting the gravel and sand base in place and building out the patio. They also build a nice retaining wall for the patio where the land slopes downward. David and his crew knew what they were doing and put in a full days work. This company is not fancy and you might not get some of the extras you'd get with a more established landscaping company, but they did quality work, were flexible with my design needs and they worked hard. We did have a contract/quote document, but most of the payments and work was done on a handshake and there was never any issues. I have another patio that I want to build next summer and I'll use these guys again.
