Before you call Fox, ask yourself if you want to spend $200/hr for plumbing services, as jobs typically grow beyond scope and you will be a captive audience. I needed a backflow valve assembly replaced on my boiler system. The technician quoted ~$750 + tax, which included paying him to drive to pick up the part. That took about 3 hours from the time he first showed up to when the valve was installed. He then found the pressure differential across the diaphragm in the valve to be dumping water when facets were turned on in the house. There was a pressure regulator next to the main shutoff globe valve inside the house. He recommended taking both out and replacing with a less restrictive valve to alleviate the pressure drop that was causing the backflow valve to dump water. A decommissioned water tank sat next to the wall and I had him pull that and reconnect the pipe. Supplies for this portion of work involved an inexpensive shutoff valve and a couple feet of copper pipe. This was around $650. Once that work was complete, the water pressure showed no improvement. Altogether, the total was $1400 + $130 tax for 6 hours of work and around $250 in parts (comparing prices for the parts on Amazon). You will get prompt and professional service with Fox, but I will not be using them again, as $200/hr is a ridiculous price to charge for any profession in the construction industry.
Description of Work: Replaced backflow valve assembly on boiler system. Replaced main water shutoff valve inside the house and removed pressure regulator and old hot water tank that had been routed around, but left in the house.

The plumber we had, Jim, did particularly neat work. They are easy to schedule with and are very responsive. Jim also showed up on time. One time we called them, they found a leak and the two faucets they were offering were $800 with installation. It seemed like a lot at the time, but I'm wondering if we should have done that. We have used them 3 times and we will call them again.

The workman was prompt, courteous, and clean. The price for this small was higher than we expected for similar services we have had in the past. After a routine customer satisfaction call, Fox management compromised on the price and brought it down to what we thought was about right. They wer professional in the way they performed the work and handled our perception of the price.

They set up a 9am appointment. I received two calls from the plumber that he was going to be late and he arrived at 9:30 am. He quickly replaced my faucet and was professional the entire time. He had to go into my crawlspace and then he had to cut off the pipe since it would not screw off. He had to drill a bit on my house to make the hole bigger. He applied caulking and attached the faucet. I noticed that he neatly wiped the caulking when he was done, which was much appreciated. I used the $25 coupon from Angie's list, which helped the cost a bit. Overall a polite experience.

It went great. I called on a Monday and didn't feel I needed to treat it as an emergency so scheduled it for the next day. They called a few hours before the appointment to let me know they could come out early if I wished. They were here shortly after the phone call and worked an hour and half to clean multiple clogs and partial clogs in the sewer line running from the sink. I probably could have found someone cheaper, but I am willing to pay more for professionalism and being here when they say they will. No complaints at all.

The diagnosis was death to all components in the tank. Solution was the replacement of all of these components. The repairman (J.P.) arrived on time, was very courteous an knowledgable, and total time was right at an hour from first knock to final handshake. The toilet seems to be operating perfectly now. My grades of Fox Plumbing are less than perfect because of the path we took to the total cost of $325 (after $25 Angie's List discount.) The scheduler on the phone informed me there would be a $99 service call, which would include the first 15 minutes of any work completed. I asked what their hourly rate was for labor and got some really odd, evasive answers. We repeated the process a few times before I surrendered. Don't all plumbers have a fixed hourly rate for their labor charges? Anyway - Fox was able to schedule an appointment today, which mattered to me so I took the plunge. The verbal estimate I received as we stood over the ailing toilet was $450. That felt a little high. I approved the work (we were going to sink $99 for nothing if I sent him away... a bit trapped, no?) I asked for all old parts to be left behind and for an itemized work order as a receipt, and noted that I felt a little challenged here as I have no basis of comparison. The final price came in $100 less than the estimate. Yea. But really? That's 25% off the mark. A more accurate estimate makes me more comfortable that I am getting a fair deal. As we settled the tab I questioned the labor portion of the charge... $48 / quarter hour + the $99 service call minimum. And that rate was higher than the labor charge that I would have paid had I waited 24 hours for the other plumber that I had originally called. I appreciate the fact that they were able to do the work same-day, and the work appears to be a quality job. I'm generally very loyal, and for other in-home service calls (electrical repair and major appliance repair) I have stuck with the first vendor I've used because they were 100% great all around. I will call other plumbers first before I go to Fox again, as the process around the estimate and costs was so kludgy.

I contacted 3 companies when my water heater bit the dust. We wound up going with another company and unit, but only because of price. Mike was prompt, professional, and gave us a quote. We were going from a tank to tankless water heater, and knew nothing. I did a little research, and the unit he recommended was actually well-reviewed, but a bit beyond our budget. When we let him know that we were going with a different company, he called. Not to try to talk us out of it, mind you. He called to make sure we were getting a decent product that would work with our unusual layout and "make us happy". And get this, he called the manufacturer of the recirculating pump we already had to make sure it would work with the (competitor's) model. He also called the competitor's manufacturer to double check. He called us a few minutes later and told us we were good to go. Absolutely incredible customer service! I will definitely be using Fox in the future, and I recommend that you do to. I am blown away.

I can't tell you how relieved I am this weekend. The stress of needing to replace a water heater right away is intense. I've always wanted a tankless, but now konw that I as given the runaround by Washington Energy Services and PSE. At a cost of 3-5k, they wanted me to install a new line from the street saying that I didn't have enough gas to run all of my services... 4 fireplaces, etc. Well, MAYBE with everything maxed out, but that's not reality. Once I dug into their logic I realized that I could likely just go tankless. Fox was at my house within a few hours of my FIRST call to fix a shower that we could use while a long-term solution was sought. Well, becuase of Fox's experience that only took a day to figure out and the next day I had a top of the line tankless system installed. Something I'd waited more than 5 years to have done. Fox was also able to arrange financing which was HUGE for us. What can I say. Fox isn't cheap, but if you want it done right the first time and more importantly, the relief that comes with it. I took my first FULL bath in years because my old water heater couldn't fill a full-sized jacuzzi tub. I have endless hot water now!

Very professional, prompt, courteous - good communication. We first had them come out for an estimate, which was higher than we had hoped, but the tech inspired confidence by explaining what was needed for proper performance (NOT splitting off from our water heater/furnace line) and after thinking it over, we decided to hire them. They were able to schedule both our estimate appointment and installation within just a couple days of our call, at a time that was convenient to us.

We discovered a leak in the expansion tank near our water heater. I called Fox and they were able to get someone out to look at it within 24 hours of first contact. The plumber they sent quickly diagnosed the problem and patiently explained it to both my wife and me. He had what he need to do the repair with him, so he was able to repair it on the spot. Overall, a good experience and I would use them again for a plumbing emergency.

They had our information from several years ago when another portion of the water line failed. Everything went as planned. They replaced the plastic pipe with copper so we would not have another fail on this line, and worked in the pouring rain. They notified the city who sent an inspector the next day. They charged us the rate promised. James and Jose were great! We would call them again for any plumping we might need.
Description of Work: The main water line to our house had a leak due to the deterioration of the original water line. James and David arrived within a couple of hours of our call. My husband had already dug down to the leaking pipe. They made a plan, called the utility companies to mark electric and gas lines, got a permit from the city, and scheduled a return the next day. He gave us an estimate, and said if my husband and son removed the dirt in 2 more designated spots, it would reduce the labor cost significantly. My husband was up for that!

Below is my original review. Fox plumbing responded instantly to the negative review with three phone calls and an appointment to come see me. Chad from their office said they take Angie reviews "very seriously". The service manager Doug came out and went over the bill. Doug said they are concerned about reputation, not making the maximum profit on each visit, as that is the way to grow the business. It appears that the original plumber charged time by the book, not actual, and this was inappropirate for what was done for us. Doug recalculated the bill and we have a refund coming of approximately $130. Having been in the service business myself, I can understand how these things happen. I am happy with the response and their effort to make us feel that we were treated fairly. ORIGINAL REVIEW Arrived promptly. Pleasant. Cleaned out drain pipe under bathroom sink ($285 plus tax). I had a drip hose from a previous owner that I wanted cut and capped. To cap the end of the sprinkler hose was $180 plus tax. I also have a toilet where I need to pull up handle after flushing. I was told that this was an old toilet so I would need to research and find the part. I went on line and did find that Koehler still sells this toilet and parts are available. Plumber said they might damage toilet to repair and said best option was a new toilet for $700. I was given a coupon that said "Free $25." "Since you are a happy customer, you canhelp us promote our busines to others. Please rate us on Google.com and/or Facebook. We, of course, would love a 5-Star review. Receive $25 from us for your time in helping us spread the word!"

The person who answered the phone knew what I was describing and had all the information I requested about cost and estimates and how quickly they could respond to my problem. She said they had someone who could come to the house about 4 hours after I called and that he would give an estimate. I believe she said that would be $95 for the call to the house to look at the problem, but if I used their service that would go towards the hourly rate. The hourly rate was $198 per hour, but they would break it down into 1/4 hours and the $95 would be for the first 1/2 hour. The plumber was at another job but he could be at the house at approximately 3pm. I made some other calls to compare, but the problems I ran into led me back to Fox. One plumber couldn't get to the house until 2 days later. Another had a lower hourly rate, $125 per hour, but he refused to use plastic pipe even if it is ok to use it according to code, so the cost of materials would very like be higher. There was another company who was uncertain about when they could be at the house, so I went back to Fox with the understanding that I could pay $95 for the estimate and not go ahead with the work if I didn't agree with the estimate. I had called a friend who works in irrigation at golf courses and he came to the house with me and showed me what the problem was and what needed to be done.He said it was fairly simple, but he didn't have the right tools. I wanted it done quickly because I just moved out of the house a few months ago and I have renters living there now so I didn't want them to be inconvenienced. Fox called at about 2:30 and said the plumber was running a little late. He did show up at about 4 and called me with the estimate of about 1 1/4 hrs plus material of around $75. I gave the go ahead and that's what it ended up being. They billed my credit card and my problem was solved by 6:00pm the same day. The plumber remembered to ask me how I knew about Fox Plumbing and when I said "Angie's List" he took $25 off the bill. I might have found someone cheaper, but you never know, the lower hourly rate plumber might have taken longer to do the job. I am very happy with Fox and would definitely call them again. Oh, yes, they did call the next day to ask if everything was ok with their service.

He was quite later but he was very quick and he repaired it. He offered to look anything else we had for him. So I showed him a toilet that’s not working well and he gave me lots of good advice to get it working better. I think he did a very good job. The office called twice to tell me he was on his way and the second time to tell me he was late which I appreciated. He included a free service in his charge which was very nice. It’s very nice getting a good plumber.

My tenants called to tell me raw sewage had backed up into the laundry room from the washing machine drain. I contacted Fox Plumbing and, to their credit, they sent out a plumber that morning. I live 2500 miles and 3 time zones away so I was anxiously awaiting information via phone as to cause and solution. Anthony accessed the sewer line from the exterior with a snake and found a large blockage which he removed. The whole job took around 3 hours but a sewer scope was not performed at this time. I was told it would follow in the next few days. Anthony also told me to talk with my tenants as the blockage did contain items of a personal nature that shouldn't be going down the toilet. I asked if he had cleaned up the laundry room for the tenants and he informed me he didn't even go in that room, even though that is where the problem presented itself. About a week later, the sewage backed up again so the 3 hours/$750 did not solve the problem. Anthony returned, this time telling me the only way to see what was happening would be to dig a large hole at the sidewalk to investigate and that the whole sewer line possibly needed to be replaced. Fox Plumbing still did not do a sewer scope and I decided to cut my losses and call another firm to fix the sewer. I also had to call 3 times to have a bill sent for my records/taxes even though my credit card had been charged.
