I was amazed. I call the office line at 8:10 in the morning and the lady answering the phone was very friendly and said she would have someone out before 9AM!! And he was out at 8:50!! Punctuality!!!! He worked swiftly and professionally. He found a few issues that we had with our plumbing in general and I gave the go ahead to fix one of them today and the other jobs will undoubtedly be done by Fox, because he was very courteous in letting me know the magnitude of the issues and did not pressure me into more and more services. I would/will be calling on them in the future for all my plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Came out to check on a non-heating water heater. We had tried to restart the pilot light and since that wasn't the problem. We called them in.

I was very disappointed overall. When the worker arrived, I told him the gas had been turned off by the city (they could not find the leak and said a professional would need to pressure test the area). An hour later, the worker came to the door and asked me if the gas had been turned off. It took him an hour to determine that the gas had been turned off, even though that's the first thing I told him! (he did not charge me for that hour) He pressure tested the pipes, found the leak, and replaced the section of pipe. Over $700 later, the city came out to check everything before turning on the gas. The city's worker noted that, "more than necessary" pipe, bolts and fittings had been used to fix the problem. A few months later, a friend who is familar with basic plumbing work, commented that Fox had used more expensive brass fixtures, when they only needed to use steel. I called Fox Plumbing to ask about the brass fittings, pipe. They manager said he would have to pull my invoice and get back to me. 3 days later he left a dismissive message on our voice mail explaining that, yes, they could have used steel, and even though brass was more expensive, it's all they had on their truck and they would have had to charge me extra in time and gas to go to their storehouse and get the steel fixtures. This seems absurd to me, that they would not have the necessary equipment prepared, but, instead would just charge the client extra because they did not have the proper, BASIC steel pipe. Not to mention the worker couldn't even figure out the gas was turned off, even though I explained that it was. I was left with the impression that Fox cares more about making money rather than quality work and good customer service.
Description of Work: A section of pipe that was leaking gas, was replaced.

Response from Fox Plumbing & Heating
Thank you for your recent comments regarding your unhappiness with the service my company provided for you. We at Fox Plumbing, and I personally, take these negative comments very seriously. I have spoken with both the plumber and the Service Manager regarding your comments, and I have to admit I am a little surprised and disappointed with our inability to please you. I can assure you that the time spent as you noted, looking for a way to shut off the gas pipe, was much more than just that. Any job requires a total evaluation, location of equipment, location of meter, location of the immediate problem, etc. All of this is normal and allows the plumber to make necessary recommendations. You also noted, as is normal in many cases, it was not time charged to you. We did that for free, at our expense. It is unfortunate that occasionally a city worker or government person with authority will make off-handed remarks. Most of those people in authority have never owned or operated a plumbing business. I would like to try to assure you that everything we do in our company, we do in an effort to deliver first rate, premium, and affordable service. The matter of using brass nipples and fittings versus black iron nipples and fittings is a choice that I personally made for my company over 15 years ago. The code had changed, and did not allow the use of galvanized water piping any longer. Only brass fittings and nipples were allowed. This being an approved product to use for gas repairs also, it only made sense to carry this type of inventory on all the service trucks rather than carrying both. With small repairs such as yours, it is generally a fairly insignificant point. I feel it is the most favorable choice for small groups of fittings and nipples in that we do not have to paint the black iron pipe, thus creating for you an on-going maintenance issue with paint deteriorating from black gas piping, trying to match existing house color, and eventually rusty colors bleeding through. I know my Service Manager has talked to you several times and credited you back the difference in cost of black steel fittings versus the brass fittings used. He also credited to you the cost of the gas test equipment. This was a total credit of approximately $100. We offered these adjustments in an attempt to reassure you that we have your best interest in mind always, and we asked if you would address these actions on your Angie’s List report. You declined. I know sometimes people can be unhappy about things in their lives and can hurt others unknowingly. For the many others that may read this report, I would, without hesitation, ask that you all look at the A ratings that we have carried with Angie’s List for over three years, achieving their “Super Service Award” for every year. This is only given to the top five percent (5%) of all contractors and service companies. We pride ourselves on delivering premium service to our customers every time and if at any time we do not, we will bend over backwards to make it right. Sincerely, David Brown, Owner Fox Plumbing and Heating

The person I spoke to at Fox was able to answer my questions up front. (They work with gas lines as well as plumbing.) Jesse was able to come out the same day. He knew exactly what to do, was professional beyond his years, solved all the main problems and was willing to work a late on an extra faucet that had given me trouble. Everything works. Nothing leaks. He left the place clean and it doesn't all smell of plumber's putty. I will definitely hire Fox again.
Description of Work: Puget Sound Energy notified me that I had a mystery gas line that extended beyond my meter to parts unknown in my back yard. Jesse from Fox Plumbing looked over the situation and determined there was no such gas line. He also removed the old defunct main water turn-off to the house and installed a new working one. And he repaired a faucet that couldn't produce hot water.

After flushing the toilet upstairs, I went into the basement a saw a waterfall over the washing machine. I assumed that there was a broken pipe. After Kris arrived he discovered that the upstairs toilet was leaking from the wax ring under the toilet. He replaced the ring with 3 rings as there was a large space to fill. He also noted that I had older hoses on my washing machine and replaced those. I was very happy with his service and professionalism.

They showed up on the same day I called, and were very professional. A bit expensive, but which plumbing company isn't? At least they are up front with their rates. My only complaint is they charged me for two bottles of drain cleaner, which was never mentioned initially and this drove up the total cost. Other than that, they did a great job and I was pleased with the quality of their work.

It seemed pricey just to hve two faucet heads replaced. The technician did not have the correct part. It would have cost us more to have him go get the correct part. We settled for a wall mount part as aposed to a pole mounted part. It was at a weird angle, but we no longer had a geyser in our yard. I called the service manager about the price. He claimed they were competative but not the lowest cost company. The service technician was wonderful. Also the office staff was professional and friendly.A month and a half went by and I noticed a crack on one of the parts that had recently been replaced. It had been a defective part that was hard to notice but was leaking. The company dispatched the same technician that same day and he verified the issue. The technician also had the correct part in the truck. He replaced the leaking faucet head and replaced the other faucet head he had done, with the correct part. I call that great service. I am still concerned with the cost, but they stood behind their product and took care of the issue. It was in a timely fasion and at no additional cost to me. Fox plumbing would get my business again.

We have had numerous plummers to work on this problem with it continuing to be a problem. It was so bad I considered becoming a plummer. I went through Angies list and analized the data and came up with Fox's Plumming. I called them, they LISTENED, and came out and not only fixed the floor drain that flooded but also fixed the patio drain we were told needed to be replaced at a cost of $5000. The gentleman plummer spent atleast 3-4 hours working on these areas and it has been over a month and NO floods or complications
Description of Work: Plummer called to fix a floor drain that flooded on and off and because there was an amount of trust built, we asked him to look at the patio clogged drain.

I have home warranty insurance and I think it's horrible. I had someone come out three times to fix the same problem and it sprung a leak again. I finally got frustrated and I found Fox's PLumbing on the list. I had to find someone that worked on plastic pipe. They came in and they were very courteous. He showed me where everything was and what he had to do. I would use them again because of the plastic pipe issue.

Excellent. Dave Gonzalez was super nice and explained everything he was doing. Very professional.
Description of Work: Toilet was leaking from around the base. Wax ring had been installed improperly before. Dave replaced the wax ring and put new caulk around the base of the toilet. We were also having problems with all of the toilets not flushing well. Dave used the camera to look down the mainline to the sewer and found no obstruction (toilets were actually flushing properly by the time he arrived). He discovered that the original setup for the cleanout opening was done improperly and repaired that as well (shortened cleanup and put on new cap).

Fox came on time, and they did excellent work. They ran a camera down at the end and showed me what looked like a BRAND NEW sewer line. My sewer indeed was not cracked or in need of replacement! They recommended having the line jetted every 1-2 years to prevent any future root obstructions, and they warrantied their work for 1 year!
Description of Work: Fox came to do a sewer line inspection for me as a second opinion. They had to remove and re-seat the toilet in my basement to the tune of $150, but the camera inspection was free. Fox was very professional and recommended jetting my line to clean it out. They were willing to jet from the basement toilet and clean the line for $800. This was a great releif to me because their competition (Beacon Plumbing) had told me that my entire sewer line needed to be replaced to the tune of $20,000! Alternately, Beacon would install an external cleanout for $5000 and jet my line, but claimed it would only be a temporary solution for a few years.

I had a water heater replaced and some plumbing done in the bathroom. He installed a new hot tap, a new faucet and spray arm in my kitchen sink. He did not have a water heater on his truck and I mentioned that to him. He went back and got one, bought it and installed it. He worked really hard, fast and he did excellent work. I told the company that they should be proud of him. A week or ten days later I had a problem with the spigot, so I called them and the next day he came out and replaced the tank and faucet. I was pretty impressed.

Woke up this morning to find the laundry room full of water from a leak in the washer hose (we thought). We had tried to fix it earlier but it leaked all night. It had leaked into the downstairs and filled up a hanging lamp, spilled over onto the dining table and soaked the floor. I checked Angieslist and called three plumbers. Fox said they could send someone out at 10. Coincidentally, I also had some electricians coming out the same day to replace several light fixtures. The guy from Fox showed up about an hour late but called us several times to let us know he would be late. When he arrived he estimated it would take him 1.5 hours and he was right on. He replaced the assembly, cleaned it all up and was on his way in a couple of hours. I am very impressed. He even told me how to deal with my soaked carpeting. When you are dealing with an emergency like this you are really at the mercy of your plumber, so I really appreciated their promptness and willingness to fix it right away.
Description of Work: Replaced the assembly leading into the washer which involved cutting a hole in the drywall and replacing the faucets with a newer type assembly. Replaced hoses, cleaned under the washer and dryer.

This installation was a bit challenging. First, the heater went into a narrow under-stair space without much room around the heater and with no overhead light. Second, he was replacing a 25-year-old water heater and the sediment inside prevented it from draining--so he had to take it out full of water, which was no easy feat and he did it alone. I appreciated the itemized invoice, because I could see the cost of the heater, labor and all the small pieces. He did a great job and we'll continue to call him for all our plumbing jobs.
