We had used Fox about a year ago and were very satisfied. Called them again 8/13/2013 for a badly dripping tub/shower faucet. William arrived that afternoon. He was on-time, courteous and professional, and worked quickly. We have no more dripping from the faucet and the water pressure is much stronger. We couldn't be happier and we will continue to use Fox for all our plumbing needs.

David arrived on time and did a superb job removing the old faucet and installing the new one. Took the time to thoroughly clean the crud accumulated over the 23 years the old faucet was in place and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time.

Response from Fox Plumbing & Heating
What a horrible experience this must have been for the [members]. After reading this review we researched our files and could not find any sign of ever working for this customer by name, or any sort of record of ever doing work at that address at anytime. Fox Plumbing never subcontracts work out to other companies. We can only conclude that the [members] must have gotten us confused with one of our competitors with a name that is similar to ours. This is something that does happen to us from time to time. It is very frustrating for both us and our customers. I ensure we offer premium service to every customer. We also have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and take things of this matter very seriously. Hopefully this customer will contact us so that we can get this taken care of. This is not indicative of the reputation we work so hard to uphold.

While we were on vacation, our neighbors noticed our front yard leaking water. Doh! The water department determined that the line between the main and our house was leaking, and we knew from past experience that it had been patched before and should just be replaced. Based on a neighbor's recommendation, we called Fox Plumbing and they came out and gave us an estimate. We appreciated that they weren't going to dig up our whole front yard or jackhammer the driveway but would instead work through the crawl space and drill under the grass. The estimator and office workers were helpful and responsive. Once we scheduled the work, the crew arrived on time and talked with us about where in our garage and crawl space was most convenient to put the new line. They only had to dig three holes, and once they were done, the sod was replaced so that you can't even tell where the holes were! They finished the whole job in one day and came back to meet with the city inspector. We were pleased with their conduct the whole time. They were expensive, but since they weren't going to dig up the whole front yard, it was worth it.
Description of Work: Replaced the existing PVC water line between main and house with copper line; used crawl space to minimize yard digging.

They came out in September last year. The price was not cheap, but it was fair. We were calling them back to do additional work. They were quick, responsive and they got the work done on time. I would give them top marks across the board.

It was pathetic. It took me six months to get the water heater and the tank less installed properly. We ended up having to call the credit card company and file a complaint and then they ended up reducing the bill after we fought for a while. They were really, really overpriced. When I ended up calling Washington Water Heaters, they knew exactly what it was. I had to call the manufacturer when Fox came out and installed the stuff and get on them on the phone and talk to them and then get Fox to talk to them. I had the gas company come out. It had to be reinspected three times because they did not pass inspection.

Response from Fox Plumbing & Heating
Thank you for your recent comments regarding your unhappiness with the service my company provided for you. We at Fox Plumbing and Heating, and I personally, take these negative comments very seriously. I have spoken with both the technician and the Service Manager regarding your comments, and I have to admit I am a little surprised and disappointed with our inability to please you. Unfortunately it took so many attempts to fix the problems. Fox Plumbing and Heating was just trying to follow the procedures of the products technical support. This was a big learning curve on this particular unit and unfortunately you were the customer that had to go through it. I know my Service Manager has talked to you several times and credited you back the difference in cost. We offered these adjustments in an attempt to reassure you that we have your best interest in mind always. For the many others that may read this report, I would, without hesitation, ask that you all look at the A ratings that we have carried with Angie’s List for over three years, achieving their “Super Service Award” for every year. This is only given to the top five percent (5%) of all contractors and service companies. We pride ourselves on delivering premium service to our customers every time and if at any time we do not, we will bend over backwards to make it right. Sincerely, David Brown, Owner Fox Plumbing and Heating

It seemed to take a very long time, and several attempts to install a leak detector resulted in bad leaks. Finally decided against the leak detector because who wants a leak detector that leaks? Had I not been overly busy and had better understood what the problem was (I'd never seen an overpressure valve venting outside) I'd have just replaced the water heater myself like I did the last time - and not worried about the earthquake strap and the expansion tank until whenever I ended up selling the house. It would have saved me a lot of money. However, they ended up getting the job done so I'm satisfied.
Description of Work: Installed a new water heater, and brought the installation up to code (added expansion tank and earthquake strap).

I called the company because our rental had problems with leaky showers and toilets. I was really worried that this will turn into a huge expensive job. A person from Fox plumbing came to the rental, assessed the damage, called me with the estimate and didn't start working on fixing the problems until I gave him a "go ahead". I really appreciated that. He was very good, courteous, and fixed the problems.

We had a rat infestation under our house, The pest control people discovered a pool of wetness and suggested bringing in a plumber. We called Fox Plumbing and Heating the next day and they came out immediately. They determined the problem was a broken pipe under the house under the kitchen sink. He called for help from a second plumber and attempted to clean it up and soon decided a vacuum truck was needed. After the truck cleaned out the sewage they proceeded to repair the pipe well enough to get us through the weekend then one of them returned on Monday to finish up. This was a nasty job and the plumber was very simpathetic and stayed late on Friday so we would be OK over the weekend. I felt he went above and beyond to get it done right.
Description of Work: Sewage removal from the under house crawl space and repair of broken pipe. This took two days, two plumbers the first day and one the second, and the use of vacuum truck which was $1,500. plus hours of use.

Our experiences with Fox lead us to believe that they take a more system approach to diagnosing and repairing problems. So while you call them out for a specific symptom, they attempt to diagnose why that symptom is occurring and fix that to eliminate your problem instead of just a little patch over your symptom. Typically this means you will be paying more for the one visit, but since your problem will be permanently solved, perhaps it equals out in the end (nonetheless, this is why I give them a B on price - it does seem like a lot at the time). It is a little nerve-wracking that they don't give free estimates - it is at least $100 just to come out and tell you the problem, and likely more like $150-200 (since it is about $50/15min after the first 1/2 hour). At that point, you feel like you can't waste that money to get another estimate. So I would advise only calling them if you are pretty sure you want to go through with the work and use Fox to do the work. The work they do is quite good, though. They are very good at cleaning up after themselves and wearing shoe covers, etc. They are efficient and effective in the repairs, and stayed true to the estimate of the job we were given before work began. We have not had a single problem with the work they did last year on our sewer, and hope for the same results with this sink repair.
Description of Work: We had some work going on in our crawlspace and the workmen alerted us to a slow leak coming from the area of our kitchen sink drain. On a Monday, I called Fox because we had used them when we had sewer work done last year and they had done an excellent and honest job. The technician arrived at my house within an hour of my call! He diagnosed the problem as inside our wall which we suspected. He gave me 3 options/prices to repair it.

they were very responsive and made sure we felt everything had been completed to our satisfaction--I felt that they were totally focused on our situation and not "inconvenienced" as other service businesses have been. there was an extra flat fee for the short emergency notice, but I had expected there would be. unfortunately, I cannot remember what that flat fee was, but I do remember it was more than worth it for us!! I would definitely call them again--hopefully not in the too near future (<:

We had to take time off of work on three different occasions. The first tech (Dennis) came and cleaned the coil wall unit in the garage. We advised him that there was also a problem with the heat pump itself. He thought that the repace / repair would solve whatever was wrong with the H.P. Did not investigate that issue any further. He had to order some materials and the Fife facility was closed, so he returned the following day with the parts. That did'nt solve the problem, but it cost $867.00. The second technician (cant remember his name) came and investigated. Had to order more materials said he would return and did not. I called Fox only to find out that the second Tech was no longer with Fox. This was very frustrating and expensive as we were in a cold snap in early February here in the Seatlle area, and our only source of heat was the "back-up" coils in the wall unit in the garage. The heat pump was not functioning at all. Resulting in a very expensive way to heat a home. We have not yet recieved our PSE bill. That should be interesting. Finally Fox sent a Manager Technician. He investigated. Had to offload the job to another company only to find that our heat pump needed freeon-coolant replacement. We had to pay this Company an additional $1200.00. What a rediculous mess this was. The nicest thing I can say is that all the Tech's were professinal and on-time, and out heat pump does now finally work.
Description of Work: Repaired and replaced some exisiting heat pump as well as heat pump coil parts. It took 3 different technicians as well as 3 attempts over a two week period, but they did get it repaired.

Overall, I was very impressed with the professionalism and the work. Douglas troubleshooted the issue I reported and we talked through a solution. He gave me an estimate upfront for the cost of the fix and though high, it was the final price. I really don't understand why plumbing labor is so much more than electrical, remodeling, etc...in any case, I will probably shop around a bit more next time only because of price - the job was done well and the service was excellent.

We decided to do the job ourselves but they were definitely fairer than another company that came out. Fox was very fair; I felt that if we were to go to someone it would be through them. They were rated well on Angie's List. The gentleman that came out was very knowledgeable and helpful; we did not feel like he was just out to make a quick buck. He actually seemed to take the time to explain things; even though it was a free quote, he really took the time for us.
