Pete from Fossatti Pawlak was highly recommended to me by my neighbor who said he did a great job for him getting a permit to complete his remodel. I'm having some work done on a rental property and was told by my contractor I needed to find a structural engineer to size some beams and determine the load bearing walls. Pete was on time, gave me some great design advice and was fairly priced. I would hire him again.
Description of Work: Sizing of beams. Location of beams Sizing of headers for windows Locating load bearing walls. design.

I contacted them and they promptly got back to me and scheduled a time good for me for their engineer to come out. That morning the engineer called me to advise that he was running late and arrived at the later time he indicated - he had forgotten his camera. He came out and we inspected the damage extensively. He discussed the structural issues, the possible causes of this damage and advised me regarding the scope of repair needed. He also provided me with the information I needed for my insurance claim. He then prepared a written report with this information for me.
Description of Work: I had Fosatti out to look at some severe dry rot at my home. I was basically needing to confirm that I was on the right page moving forward to repair this, as well as some information for my insurance claim for the rot.

I was called right away after e-mailing in pictures and a short explaination of what I wanted done. I was told they wouldn't have someone in my area for a while as they were all out on jobs. Two days later I was called stating an engineer was in my area completing a job early and asked if I could get back to my home that afternoon. She arrived right on time, was very professional, polite and compassinate to my concerns. Would I use this Company again or recommend them........You Bet!
Description of Work: Wanted to have walls downstairs and upstairs inspected for excessive settling.

I spoke with Jennifer at RFA. She was very friendly, very professional and did a great job of explaining their services, how they bill, and what written materials they would provide that my contractor would use to install the new header. She promptly arrived at the scheduled time. She observed the area and pictures I had and confirmed that the partial wall we wanted to remove was not a load bearing wall. She was able to confirm that the new header could be installed in the attic above the ceiling and the supports could be flush in the wall on the side where it was to be removed. She returned to her office and within a couple of days provided a letter and drawing with specs on the requirements for the new header. She determined the minimum materials required to meet the very small load requirements. This saved us ordering a more pricey beam. I was very pleased with Jennifer, and RFA.
Description of Work: Specs for new header for kitchen alcove opening that is adjacent to the main kitchen area. The plan was to remove a partial wall and eliminate the dropped header in a kitchen alcove to open up the space to the main kitchen as part of a partial kitchen remodel.

They returned my phone call that day or the next day. They had the wrong phone number and they tracked me down. They showed up at the appropriate time. Steve was very friendly and got the report to me. I'm pleased with the work that they did.

Very professional. The engineer arrived promptly and was able to determine what walls we could move and provided us with a written stamped report we could show to the building department. The price was more than fair since we were quoted several hundred dollars more by other firms. I will definitely use them again on our next project.
Description of Work: Inspect the home to determine if a load bearing wall could be removed. Inspected cracks in concrete foundation and determined if any fix was required.

We initially contacted RFA but it was 2-3 weeks before they returned our call; we decided to continue using their company despite the delay. After the initial delay, the company representative, Steve Hall, was prompt. He visited our house, took pictures of the existing structure and made sketches of the work we want to accomplish. After 1 week, he sent a certified letter, detailing the materials required to perform the work.
Description of Work: We are remodeling the interior of our house and want posts moved; these posts support structural beams. We hired RFA Structural Engineers to perform the analysis of what needed to be done to allow moving the posts without loss of structural support.
