I locked my keys inside my car while it was still running at 6:00 AM. I called my roadside assistance service and they refered me to Fidelity Locksmith since they were the closest to my location (8 miles away), and could be there in 20 minutes. After waiting 45 minutes I called to see how much longer the wait was and the person on the phone told me he was stuck in traffic and should be there in 10 minutes. 2 hours later a technician finally showed up in a beat up SUV with no company sign or logo on the side. When I asked him why it took him so long to get here, he told me that he just got the call at home 15 minutes ago. When I told him that I had had been waiting for him for 2 hours and 45 minutes, he said that was typical of this company. He did do a nice job unlocking my door. It only took him about 10 minutes. Once he was done he told me the charge was $235. I told him I was quoted $80 over the phone, and that will be discounted because he wasn?t there within 30 minutes. He said that he was never informed of that and had to call the main office. The guy who I orginally called was already gone for the day, and the manager was too busy to take a call from one of his workers. The technician was nice enough to give me a 10% Military discount since the manager was too busy to talk to him about how much I was suppose to pay. Since I was already 3 hours late for work, I just paid him and figured I could work it out with the company later. I have tried to call the main office at 1-866-317-8526 5 times to work out how much I was supposed to pay. Every time I called them, I was told that the manager was on the other line or someone would call me back, I have yet to receive a phone call or an explanation why I had to pay 3 times what I was quoted over the phone. This is the most dishonest and unethical company I have ever dealt with.
Description of Work: I called them to unlock my car door because I locked myself out while the car was running.

I locked my keys in the trunk of my car while at the park. I called a friend and asked her to look up a number for a locksmith. She gave me the phone # of 855-420-5485. It was Fidelity Locksmith. Their add says "15 minute response time" It took 3 phone calls and 1 1/2 hours for them to arrive. When the person arrived -- in an unmarked van -- he told me that he would either have to drill the lock or make a new key. I told him that I didn't want him to drill the lock, and that I thought it would be easier for him to make a new key -- assuming that he had the tools in his van to do so. He said, "no, I don't have the tools, but I have a friend who does and I can call him. He can be here in about 30-40 minutes." I then called my handyman/contractor and he gave me the name of another locksmith. That locksmith told me that I shouldn't pay more than about $70.00. By that time the person from Fidelity had unlocked the trunk with some kind of tool. he got it unlocked in about 3 minutes. He then wrote the bill for $158.00. I told him that I wasn't going to pay that much money (since I had just been told that a normal price was less than half that). He then knocked it down to $129. I called the company and they wouldn't budge. So I paid the $129. It was a terrible experience. I waited over 90 minutes and was then overcharged. i tried to look them up on line subsequently and couldn't find an address. Seemingly, it's a national company out of Van Nuys California. They are a rip off.
Description of Work: The locksmith used a tool to go into my trunk and pop the lock and retrieve my car keys.
