They exceeded my expectations every step of the way. I interviewed 10 ductless heat pump installers. They came in with the best bid, were highly professional each step of the way, and were more than patient with my dozens upon dozens of questions. The install crew was incredibly polite. They were at my home until 7:00 PM on a Friday night after the install answering my questions about how the system worked and how to best optimize it for my home. They were so kind. Jon who gave us the initial estimate was very accommodating. I changed my mind about what I wanted after the first estimate, and he was more than willing to come out and give my home a second look. It also took me about a year to move forward, but they honored the price they quoted me. They really stood out among the crowd. I can't say enough good things about them. Save your time and start here.

John Mott came to do the estimate last year, and walked me through what I needed and what I didn't. He also talked about what is nice and is not. He was great and pragmatic and made me feel like I was going to get what I needed. Then I didn't actually execute on the job until this year, and when I reached out to him in March of this year, he just sent me a new estimate and boom...I was on the calendar with a few email exchanges. The workers themselves, were great. They came every day before 8AM and worked all day through 5PM. Very professional and very helpful. We are actually having issues with PSE inspecting the new meter and unlocking it, but Evergreen came back on a Saturday just to see if it had been unlocked. It hadn't so they were very nice about rescheduling another day to come back and get the new water heater running and take the old water tank out. I would recommend them to anyone!

John Mott was the salesman for this project. He was endlessly patient with me while I dithered about which unit to select. He made every effort to answer my questions, he even arranged for me to come to the office to see the two units so I could decide which one to select. Once I'd made my decision John introduced me to the project manager (I'm so sorry I can't remember the project manager's name, he was fantastic) and we scheduled the installation. The team arrived exactly on time, they brought drop cloths to keep my carpet clean, they explained every single thing they planned to do and made sure I was comfortable with their plans. They did a great job, cleaned up after themselves, the crew were friendly and polite in every way. When the installation was complete the project manager (shame on me for not remembering his name!) carefully explained how the unit worked and made sure I understood I could always call if I had questions. Some time later John Mott checked in with me to ensure I was satisfied with the installed unit. The unit has functioned perfectly throughout the heating season and I've switched it to cooling and it's great at that too. I recommend these guys and this organization to anyone in this area who would like to have a ductless heat pump installed.

This review is long overdue! Evergreen Home Heating and Energy provided excellent customer service from beginning to end. I tried to get bids from 2 additional providers (one through Home Depot and the other through Costco), but for some reason they never followed up with even an estimate and did not respond to multiple attempts to contact them. Evergreen, on the other hand, took even the research of feasibility out of my hands and contacted the City of Seattle on my behalf regarding permits, codes, and even the rebate that was offered at the time. Once he gathered all of the necessary information, Jamey provided a quote very quickly and scheduled my installation. The installation crew was prompt, courteous, and hard-working. Rather than extending my installation over multiple days, they worked late to get my installation completed in 1 day. Chris, who led the crew that day, was extremely courteous, thorough, and meticulous about the job. Not only did Chris do a great job managing the crew, he himself got on the roof to install my 3rd floor units because he was most comfortable being up that high. They cleaned up after the job. Follow-up was great as well - I thought I had an issue with one of my units, and Evergreen sent out somebody to take a look (it had mysteriously resolved itself by then) at no additional charge. Again, I should have written this review a long time ago, and I hope it still helps some people decide to hire Evergreen. Thank you!!

Evergreen was able to squeeze me in for the in-home estimate only a couple of days after I contacted them, which was a Saturday no less. John was super friendly and informative. By Monday morning I had my two complete estimates for two different price ranges. I opted for the top end one for better warranty and also that unit was eligible for federal income tax deduction in addition to the City Light rebate. After accepting the estimate and paying the deposit, I made an installation appointment for about a week and a half later. It may have been even sooner, but it was I who was inflexible. Luckily for me, they were working Veterans Day which was the only time I could be home. Everyone arrived on time for the installation and was professional and helpful. They have their own electricians who come on site for the installations, which was super fortunate for me as he was able to take over the circuit which had been powering the ancient baseboard heaters I was looking to retire. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to power my new unit. The crew fastidiously used drop cloths and shoe protectors, there was no speck of dust left behind that I could find. They were careful to inquire about the safety of my pets, which I appreciated although I had already corralled the pets in a back bedroom away from the work. They estimated one full day of work, it took about a half day. They were very thorough in making sure I understood all the paperwork and what to do with it. I was to schedule the city inspections myself which was for the best anyway (all inspections passed unbelievably quickly with zero issues). They also made sure I was fully trained on the use of the unit's remote, cleaning filters, etc. The final bill was identical to what had been estimated. I can't overstate the value of the service where they take the City Light rebate off the bill and deal with collecting from City Light themselves. I wasn't looking forward to that particular process and was unsure how long it might take, but thanks to Evergreen I just never had to pay the rebate amount in the first place. It seems like kind of a small thing writing it down, but it's things like this that I wish more contractors who are familiar with the processes would just handle for homeowners. My kWh usage since getting the heat pump is considerably down from previous winters, even considering the uncharacteristically cold snaps we have had this year. One thing I will mention, these types of units do not perform well below about 20 degrees Fahrenheit. This is not Evergreen's fault, and it's a feather in their cap that they warned me extremely well of this. Little did I realize I would have a chance to test this statement within a month after installation. So, my kWh usage has still been down considerably since last year even with the cold snaps and with liberal use of the remaining connected baseboard heaters. If you live in the PNW, the ductless heat pumps are great for our normal weather, get them. Just maybe keep an additional space heating option around for freak record low temperatures. I don't know how many more HVAC type jobs I'll have in the future, but when I do, I will call Evergreen. I had a great experience all around and couldn't be happier with my system.

The technician from Evergreen arrived right on time and was very friendly and quickly diagnosed that our gas line and furnace were fine but that our chimney was clogged and that is why we were smelling exhaust in the house. Because it was a chimney issue we decided to hire a chimney sweep to fix the problem. There was an issue after getting the chimney cleared that we couldn't get the furnace turned on again. It turned out that the Evergreen tech had removed a safety fuse and forgotten to put it back in. Reid in customer service bent over backward when he heard that to apologize and also did a very special thing to make us satisfied in donating our initial payment to the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center in memory of my father. I was absolutely floored when I got the confirmation from Fred Hutch about the donation. Stellar customer service and I highly recommend this company!

This firm is terrific ! First, they arrived on time to give us a bid and it was the most thorough evaluation of our heating needs that I have ever seen. They gave us two choices and complete information for both. We went with the more expensive unit w/ a better warranty and some additional energy saving features. Additionally they compute the rebate from our power company and arrive w/ the documents so we did not have to go through the hassle of submitting it ourselves....note to competitors.....keep your bid simple and complete and take care of the rebate "details". After signing the contract they arrived promptly at the agreed time and did a beautiful job of installation. They were so careful of everything within the home...wearing shoe covers, vacuuming up after the job was completed and then carefully explaining how to operate the system. This firm is, by far the most professional HVAC firm we have ever dealt with and I wish we'd used them for previous projects. Ask for Al....he does an outstanding job and we couldn't be happier !

from oil to electric.the salesman was very thorough of his evaluation of my house and gave me several different choices of furnace types. when I made my choice they were able to install it by the end of the week. I had many bids from other companies and the other businesses were often lacking in the services needed to do the complete job, such as duct cleaning, electrical, which I felt were very important to make the transition

The serviceman supposedly emailed his findings but I never received them: I had to call. All I knew from the person who was home to let the serviceman in was that the gas line was compromised. Sounded serious to me. Now, the man who consults to get the work done doesn't schedule appointments after 3:30 so how are those of us that work (you know, so that we can pay our billls) cannot schedule an appointment. I don't recommend this company to anyone who has to work 8-5 M-F. They will not work with you at all. S___ said that their schedule "is what it is". '

I tried to turn on my furnace for the first time since early summer and it wouldn't work. I called and left a message after hours and received a call back first thing in the morning. They didn't have an opening today but scheduled an appointment for tomorrow. A couple of hours later, I received a call offering me an appointment today after they'd had a cancellation. The technician got here a little after the appointment window but had called to tell me when he was on his way. He pretty promptly diagnosed the problem and repaired it (wiring issue with the thermostat) as well as conducting the routine service that I was due for. He recommended I have the wire replaced, but told me it didn't need to be done immediately. I was impressed that he didn't try to push the service on me. Evergreen has a plan that you can pay for that gives you a free service call within the year and discounts on work being done. I've found it to be a good cost savings.
Description of Work: Figured out why my furnace wasn't working (wiring issue), fixed it, completed routine service and put together an estimate for a more long-term wiring replacement that he recommended I have done within a year or two.

Both of the installers were super polite and super professional. I felt safe leaving them to do the job without feeling like I needed to keep an eye on them. They completed the job to our satisfaction arrived on time and finished on time and left no footprints or mess for us to clean up. We had 7 estimates done.. Yes SEVEN! Evergreen was the 6th company to come out and give us an estimate we actually had an additional 2 estimates scheduled after that but decided we were unlikely to do better than Evergreen so we cancelled them. . Our Project Manager John Mott was the cherry on top ... We never felt pressured and after talking to him were super confident that Evergreen was the company to do the best job for us and large enough that they are still going to be around ten years from now. We would recommend them to anyone who needs any kind of HVAC service.
Description of Work: Evergreen replaced our 20 year old gas furnace and installed a new super quiet 97% AFUE efficiency Two Stage Variable Speed Trane Gas Furnace with touchscreen thermostat & condensate pump including 10 year parts and labor warranty and applicable city mechanical permit. They also installed Cold Air Return ducting down the hallway extending from the Furnace to a new air return grill. I rec'd $1000.00 off the original package price with the coupon for Angies List members, the manufacturers rebate, Utility rebate and Federal tax rebate which Evergreen gave me up front rather than making me wait for reimbursement at a later date. The install also included a base can and a 4" MERV high efficiency air filter which is much better than the 1 inch thick ones we had been using with the old furnace. The filtration is much better and we really notice the increased air quality because we have pets and my wife is sensitive to contaminants like pet hair and pollen. We have the fan set to recycle the air regularly which is a nice feature and its so quiet you can barely hear it and only if you get right next to the furnace. We would recommend them to anyone who needs any kind of a HVAC service.

The tech Aaron called me and told me it was a clogged filter from dirt build-up.. I said go ahead and repair it. He said he'd have to return the next day in order to purchase the new filter to replace it. I received the bill a week later. It said, $89 for diagnostic, $183 for hi-limit switch, $21 for filter. I paid it but when I looked up hi-limit switches they were all about $16 on the internet. I called and asked why they charged $183 for a $16 part. They said they do not separate parts and labor and the diagnostic fee is never applied to the bill if you okay their repair. I don't recall Aaron telling me about the hi-limit switch over the phone. I suspect they overcharged me.

When getting the quote for the service, I was told it would be expensive because it was labor intensive (they have to drain the water, etc) and the part was expensive. I did it anyway because I was in a hurry. Well, technician came today and did the job in about 90 minutes and replace a part that I found cost $120. So the bottom line is that I paid over $500 for a 90 minute labor. I felt a little ripped off obviously and called the company to explain the price again given that it ended up being so quick. I essentially go no explanation, just heard that it is "market price". So to sum up, I am happy with the quality of the job but way unsatisfied with the price and would encourage future customers to ask about pricing.

Price paid was after a $1200 rebate from Seattle City Light and a 10% off coupon from Angie's List. First I called and set up an appointment for a visit. John came and explained things, took measurements and left me with some information. He later e-mailed me a bid. A few days later I accepted the bid and sent it back with a deposit, then we scheduled the work. Everything went smoothly and the work was completed in one day. They did a good job and everyone was friendly and professional. They obtained and brought the required permits and explained how everything was going to work. The work passed city inspections with no problems and we love our new ductless heat pump system!
