Fantastic work replacing the lintel beam above my garage door and all of the cracked and damaged brick. The replacement brick fits in seamlessly with the old brick.

We had very old mortar and a fallen arch on our chimneys. Burt chiseled out the old mortar and packed the joints- even coloring the grout to complement the brick. The rebuilt arch looks great too! Would definitely recommend. Thanks Burt!

EMR was prompt, communicative, and professional; the price was competitive with other bids we received; and the results beautifully restored the original recessed mortar of the front exterior brick on our 100-year-old home. We are considering hiring EMR again to restore the rest of the exterior brick on our home.

Denis and Bert did an excellent job on removing at least least three dozen bricks from an arch that had shifted and the center bricks had slipped down. A plywood support was built, scaffolding erected, the supporting column leveled, and the bricks relayed, after cleaning the mortar off of each one. Denis even embedded a metal strap into the mortar layer between the bricks. Scaffold construction was essential and nicely done. We are quite pleased with the result.

Bert and Denis were a pleasure to work with. They were careful in setting up scaffolding not to disrupt the landscaping and did an outstanding job rebuilding the chimney using existing brick with cement skim coating.

On top of being a supreme gentleman, he shared his scaffolding with the next contractor to make it easier for him to install our fireplace gas insert. We met him and immediately liked him and trusted him. He was free to use our bathroom and I gave him all the coffee he could drink and cold beverages in the afternoon. He was extremely appreciative of my kindness. But that surprised me as I expect others to be doing the same for their contractors. Especially for people like Bert. He is a one-of-a-kind person and does such a beautiful job. I would hire him again and will tell all my friends about him.

EMR did a great job tuckpointing our 1920s Tudor house. We decided to go with EMR because it was clear that Bert knew what we needed, communicated well with us so we knew what to expect, and bid with a very reasonable price. He did not disappoint - he did high quality work, on time, with no surprises or cost overruns; and he kept our yard clean as well. EMR will be our first call if we need any masonry work done in the future!

I had hired Bert several years ago to repoint one side of our house, and he was fantastic. In the interim, I had used a couple other people to spot tuck point, hoping to save some money while I waited to fully redo the rest of the brick. Big mistake! I can honestly say I would never use anyone but Bert again for brick work. He is a professional and true craftsman in every way. He is responsive, respectful, and hard working. His prices are also very reasonable and he’s just generally easy to deal with. I could not recommend him more highly!

Beautifully repaired 95 year old chimney thanks to EMR Masonry. Bert's bid was competitive and work habits outstanding. He needed to replace one brick and was determined to find one that matches. Striking out at the brickyards, he literally unearthed one from our side yard, where it had been waiting for decades. Amazing. Very happy with the results and highly recommend EMR Masonry.

I called EMR for a quote for tuckpointing my house which is in need of restoring. Bert was able to fit me in and the quote came in very reasonable. After going over the quote with him over the phone, I decided to go with him instead of other companies as he answered all my questions honestly and sounds personable and very knowledgeable. He was able to fit me into his busy schedule before yearend for one side of the wall (southside) which was partial done from another company that did a horrible job. He had to redo this company's bad work and his craftsmanship to his work really shines as it looks 1000% better than before. After completion of the south wall and my visual inspection he was available and able to do the northside wall too. On the northside, there is a section that a window used to be bricked up. He suggested to fix that so the wall looks uniform. Boy! Did he do an awesome job fixing it. During inspection, I couldn't tell the bricked up window was there in the first place. He did an awesome job on both walls. Plus the worksite looks spotlessly clean after his work was done. I can't wait for him to work his masonry skills on the other 2 walls of my house this coming spring! Thanks Bert for doing a fantastic job! I'll be sure to be referring Bert and EMR Masonry to my friends/family/etc for all their masonry needs. He is THAT good with his masonry craftsmanship!

Can't recommend highly enough, and went above and beyond to help us out of a mess caused by the awful contractors who poorly installed a new sliding door in our 100 year old brick wall. Bert had pre-removed the brick to expand the opening of the existing door and the plan was for him to come back and simply replace the brick. I called him in a panic when the door installers told me, basically, "Your door is going to leak into the house underneath, sorry." Bert said he can take care of it, don't worry, and had Dennis, who works for him, come the next day. (Bert was on a job and went out of his way to fit us in). Of course, the next day we were expecting torrential rain and 30 mph gusts. A tarp and other reinforcements were set up that withstood the storms and Dennis ended up spending days weather-proofing our new door before he even touched the brick. He even fixed the latch on our fence and cleaned up after the door installers! The work done was as close to perfect as I could imagine. With a lot of things that didn't go according to plan, they managed to make the opening look like it had always been there. Top-notch problem solving, exceptional attention to detail, expert skill, great pride in work, and complete reliability is what I found working with Bert and Dennis. We have a lot of tuck-pointing and repair work in our future, and nobody will touch our brick except for EMR!

Bert was always in communication keeping us in the loop. He was very flexible with our requests. His work was great! We have more work to get done. We plan to hire EMR next spring for the additional work.

Bert was 1 of 4 bids for the project and I went with him since I liked the scope of work he suggested. He finished the job in less time than projected. After the project, the site was relatively clean - you cannot expect every single bit of paint chip to be gone. He answered questions and concerns that I had as the project went on and he communicated each day to advise of the game plan for the next day.

This year it was finally time for our house to be tuck-pointed. Naturally, we called Bert, and he was very responsive from day one. He came out to learn about our house, hear our thoughts, and inform us on what he thought we needed. He gave a verbal quote and followed up quickly with a written quote, as well. We negotiated scope, timing, payment terms and then settled on a plan. Bert started our project on time and completed it as planned. The entire time Bert was courteous, professional, responsive and flexible. We communicated through hiccups, like our dog getting out of the yard and us not cutting a bush back, and there was no tension. We enjoyed working with Bert and would hire him again. Bert is a true craftsman. He stopped by the same day I called to give an estimate from ground level. The price was more than fair so I gave him the go ahead. He was able to fit in my smaller job before he started a big job that would have kept him tied up for several weeks. Once he had his scaffolding set up and could access the chimney above the roof line he discovered it did not need very much work so he called and reduced the price by about one-third. That’s honesty. Even more so since no one was at the house the two days he was working. He could have easily just billed us for the full estimate price and we’d be none the wiser. He is a real professional. Fair price, quality work, clean job site when finished and, as I mentioned, honest. I’d hire him again without hesitation.

Bert was fantastic. I had used another mason for a different part of the house a few years ago, but the work was not as good as our neighbor's across the street. After vetting several other vendors, I called EMR as a referral. Bert's bid was reasonable (not the cheapest, but also definitely not the most expensive)- and his communication was very good. He always called me to look over work as he progressed, or found new things outside the original scope of the project. In the end, we have a really great looking wall that took more than twice as many bricks, and a couple weeks longer than we all expected due to unforeseen issues. Bert was a CHAMP by walking through any questions, concerns, and even took it on himself to source some window parts that required repair before he could complete the job. Bert was also extremely fair for additional costs when taking on weeks of work above what the contract outlined. We are very happy with the work, and look forward to having him work on the rest of the house in the coming years.

Bert is a true craftsman with an excellent work ethic. I have a 1929 craftsman tudor home with detail not found in modern construction practices. His meticulous work and eye for every detail restored my brick entryway to its original grandeur. Thanks Bert!

Just purchased a 1938 house and needed the chimney tucked and pointed. Bert is a master craftsman, he communicates well and does what he says he will do when he says he will do it. His pricing is reasonable and the work product is very high quality. Pays attention to being neat and tidy with messy work.

As noted in previous review Bert showed up on time and did the work he and I thought needed to be done to keep the chimney in good condition. I originally thought he did a good job but my masonry knowledge is obviously limited. Once the rain in started in December we had major water issues in our house through the chimney. We have a gas insert and the water was just pouring into it and out into our living room. Again, we have never had an issue before his work was performed. Because it was still raining (one of our heaviest rain periods) he put a tarp over the chimney and said he would be back when the rain let up to see where the water was getting through. He did come back out just to say he would take care of it when we had a dry stretch of weather. A month later I finally gave up on Bert and called out another mason. He showed me where Bert did good tuck pointing but also where he completely did subpar work. The concrete work on top of the chimney was not done correctly and is already cracking only after 2 months. As a result of his poor work I have to pay someone to fix the gas insert that was flooded with water and I have to pay another mason to redo the work that Bert did. So in other words paying twice what I should have. I only chose Bert and EMR Masonry because of his good reviews on Angie’s List. This experience makes me wonder how reliable Angie’s List reviews are.

Bert was very helpful and knowledgeable about the project, and had it accomplished in just a few hours.
