Bert did really great work repairing our stone steps that had broken apart as well as repairing our chimney. You can't even tell that the steps had been broken! We were weeks away from our baby's due date and he fit us into his schedule so the front steps were no longer a tripping hazard. We'd definitely recommend EMR Masonry!

It was a big project and Bert completed it on time, on budget, and with less mess and disruption to our landscaping than we expected. We particularly appreciated the limited amount of dust thanks to their use of a grinder with a vacuum and the attention to matching the original color and style of the mortar joints. Bert was courteous, fair, and transparent throughout the entire process. The only downside of going with EMR compared to a larger company was that we had to wait about 7 months for Bert to become available to start the project given his backlog of projects. We highly recommend Bert and would definitely hire him again.

Bert is a very hard worker who does professional work. The project took 1 1/2 months to complete. He maintained a clean work site with minimal grinding dust affecting our nearby neighbors homes. I would recommend EMR Masonary.

EMR masonry did a great job for us. Our project was complicated when they found out the roof structure was supported by the masonry and steel lintel that needed replacing. I felt they treated us fairly and had the right expertise to complete the job with high quality. I would definitely recommend them.

I live in a 1923 cottage bungalow home and was in need to have the chimney in my basement restored. It had layers of concrete and paint on it. I hired Bert to do a brick veneer over the chimney. He does fabulous work - it is obvious that he has over 30 years of experience doing brick restoration. He was always on time, and very professional. My restored chimney looks fabulous. The owner Bert was very professional and responsive. The house has a lot of detail (porch columns, arches, etc.) EMR did a thorough job of digging out the old mortar (much of it hand) doing repair work as needed and placing the new mortar. I should mention that the work site was kept tidy and there was not a problem with dust. The job was done within the estimate.

Excellent work, done on time and on budget, despite wet Seattle weather. Bert worked steadily and with care. His demeanor was pleasant and professional, and he was happy to discuss the job as he proceeded through it. We were very happy with the results.

Bert of EMR was great to work with. He is busy and was scheduled out a way when I contacted him, but true to his word he was able to complete the work on my chimney before the weather turned cold. Bert was diligent and did excellent work. Removing the old grout was a more difficult job than was expected but Bert patiently worked through it. The chimney now looks great and the area was cleaned up nicely!

Bert was wonderful from start to finish. First, we started having water intrusion issues on a Thursday night in October. I called Bert, as well as several other contractors, on Friday. One contractor told me they could not even get someone to come look until December. Another promised to call me back with potential dates but never did. Bert came out the next day, a Saturday (!) to take a look and give me a quote. The quote was very reasonable. Then, he was able to squeeze us in because we were a small project in just a few weeks. He did an excellent job and clearly has a great work ethic. He worked from early morning to evening and finished the project in just over two days. The tuckpointing looks great. We would use him again and would recommend him without hesitation.

Bert was great from start to finish. He came out to my house to give me an estimate on tuckpointing the day after I called him, even though it was a weekend. Other contractors I called said they would not be able to come out for months, and one never even called me back. Bert was able to squeeze us in a couple weeks out and did an excellent, detailed job tuckpointing the front of our house. He even fixed some other bricks that were protruding and cut down some large hedges for no extra cost. His price was very reasonable and he was polite and easy to work with. I would not hesitate to recommend him!

Bert gave me an honest estimate, much better than the other two I got, and he spent quite a bit of time with me discussing options and how the work would be done. We had to wait till spring, given the terrible winter we just had. Bert was happy to work with my own schedule requirements, promised the finishing date and was done that day. His two workers were excellent, very skilled and experienced. Bert spent quite a bit of time here himself. Everyone was courteous and professional, very careful about avoiding damage to the house or flower beds despite very tall scaffolding and lots of heavy materials and equipment going up and down. They did a great job and I have no hesitation about recommending EMR to others and would happily hire them again.

They did a wonderful job incorporating the salvaged brick to close the openings--it's nearly impossible to tell where the patches are. They were professional, responsive, clean and affordable. We highly recommend them.

Bert was very honest, and steered us away from unnecessary work on drainage and interior drywalling we were considering to mitigate the leaks. His price was excellent (we got four quotes, two of which were much higher, and one which was very comparable but slightly higher). Bert and his colleague worked on the job, and were professional. When we can afford/are ready to do the other two sides of the house, we will use this company.

Bert's quote was very competitive. His work was very detail-oriented and preserved the integrity of the existing brickwork while replacing the mortar. And weather-permitting he was always on time and worked Saturdays as well. I highly recommend EMR.

Fantastic. A true craftsman who knows his trade!

Bert is a master craftsman. His knowledge of tuck pointing and brickwork was superior to any of the other companies we looked at. Where others said our front porch was a mess and should be a separate, ridiculously priced project, Bert proposed a reasonably priced solution. Because of damaged brick, Bert scoured Seattle to find bricks which matched our home. Again, he is a craftsman. Bert is a great guy to work with, worked through cold weather, and was excellent at communicating as the job progressed. Bert set up scaffolding, removed the old grout, replaced rusting support bars above some windows (which no other companies noticed), replaced grout, washed and sealed the bricks. He also tuck pointed our two chimneys, repaired broken off bricks, put in a chimney liner and cap. The area around the house was pristine after the job was done. Bert's quote was not the cheapest (14K) or the most expense ($32K). The bigger company we had quote was much more expensive and didn't include the porch or rusted bar replacements. We like that Bert is the owner and does the work. Our home looks beautiful. We highly recommend Bert!

Great guys, sprayed a sealant around base of chimney. Didn't charge me anything. This is the company I will be calling if I ever need any type of masonry work done, big or small job!!

Things went very well with Bert. I got the sense from him right away that he has expertise in masonry. He quickly pointed out some items and spoke about things with conviction and passion. I received a handful of bids and his was very competitive. Put that together with his expertise and it was an easy choice to work with them. We will eventually do the remaining portion of the home and the first call will be EMR again.

We appreciated the concern for the preservation of our older home and the additional information regarding related work that was over and above the specific work. They were on time, reliable and finished the work as promised. Materials were provided as committed and the work area was cleaned and returned to its former state.
