They were prompt in coming, easy to work with, and did outstanding work. It was a difficult repair job. They are true craftsman and actually came back twice at no additional charge just to make sure everything was perfect. Their pricing was also very fair.
Description of Work: Repaired some very badly damaged concrete retaining walls in my garden that were covered in stucco.

I highly recommend EMR. We selected EMR after seeking three quotes from companies identified on Angies List. Bert (the owner) is incredibly industrious and delivers exactly what was discussed. He exhibits pride in workmanship and thoroughly explains the process and options. In our case, Bert worked through simply terrible weather by applying tarps. A few highlights. EMR worked our job from start to finish, without delays while servicing other jobs. I also needed to replace a small concrete pad. EMR did a great job matching the color of the existing concreate and replicating the pattern found in the sidewalk. While engaging EMR, I found out that Bert had done other houses in the neighborhood several years earlier. Needless to say they also reported that they were thrilled with the work on their houses. After our job, Bert worked on the chimney for one of our neighbors down the street. In short, if you have a sizable tuckpointing job, you really should get an estimate from EMR.
Description of Work: EMR tuck pointed three sides of our 1928 clinker brick tudor (including the chimney) and replaced a small concrete pad at our entry way.

Five years later, the stucco and color of it have held up beautifully. Burt (the owner and single employee) was very respectful, and knew what he was doing. He stuccoed about two days, then came back a week later to do the painting. We wondered if he would really do it because we were out of town during the time he would be painting. Yep, he did it. The whole thing was a good price, and it looks really good. Plus, it stopped the crumbling of our old chimney stack. No more bricks falling from way up above!
Description of Work: Burt Galambos stuccoed our crumbling 1959-era chimney masonry. He painted it the tan color we wanted, and his stucco work was beautifully done--he gave it a smooth finish. He also added missing caps onto our chimney stack.

Bert (owner) was very responsive to initial inquiry and provided professional quote in a timely manner. Dennis (mason performing bulk of work) was professional, EXTREMELY courteous and detail oriented. Dennis (and Bert) took a great deal of time prepping the area(s) for concrete block install; were meticulous with block install (joints and blocks were installed with incredible care - level and solid with impeccable joints) and were very considerate/courteous to staff and customers of ongoing business operations around the work area. Not a complaint, just an observation: The work took considerably longer that originally discussed or anticipated. For our job, that made no impact on our operations whatsoever, and we would expect that if we had asked Bert to move the job along more quickly he would have without complaint. The final product was outstanding, and we would use EMR Masonry again without hesitation. Dennis, Bert and crew took extra care in leaving the job site extremely clean upon completion. These are experienced and well thought of craftsmen.
Description of Work: Installed concrete block and metal door frame in two areas formerly used for large (commercial) roll-up doors. Completed concrete block repairs in damaged concrete block walls.

Bert, the mason, did a great job. Previous work of someone else (~20 years ago before we owned the house) had created a mesh on the north side, especially the chimney. The mortar was falling out in areas, but some of the mortar was rock hard and there was a coating of something that made the brick look like it was oxidizing. Bert chipped/scrubbed all the discoloration off and now it looks beautiful! It was a lot of work, and I am sure some others would have given up, but Bert just kept working at it. Also, we had trouble matching the old mortar, which was probably mixed on site, but Bert was patient and we found an excellent compromise. When you own an almost 100 year old home, finding someone willing to put in the extra effort to match the previous craftsmanship can be tough. We looked around for a while without finding a fit, but Bert was convincing from the start. I highly recommend EMR to you if you need someone to restore your brick home to its former glory!

Bert came over and looked at my chimney and gave me an estimate. His price was the best I found and came over a few weeks later to do the job. This is specialty work so is very detailed. He worked on my chimney for 3-4 days and did a careful and detailed job. He also noticed that I didn't have a chimney hood and offered to put one on. He treated my chimney like it was his own. He did a beautiful job and was very professional and made sure it all looked great. I would highly recommend him!

Initial contact was to repair the stone veneer on the exterior wall. Bert was very quick to respond to our call and upon his review we identified more sever issues....failure of the stucco above causing serious dry rot and wet termite damage. Nothing was visible from the exterior and only uncovered when he removed the old stone. Bert was not able to do the structural repairs needed to remove the windows and doors replacing the damaged wood, but was very supportive in helping us find a separate contractor to do this work. While a second contractor was required, he worked closely with them to coordinate activeties to keep the project moving. Bert was very professional and did beautiful work matching the original stucco and stones.

Same-day response to our request for an estimate. Was able to fit our small job in, within a week of the initial call, before he began a large project on Queen Anne. The work was done to European quality standards, and our chimney now looks great.
Description of Work: Repaired failing stucco cladding around chimney, above the second story of the house. Applied skim coat and then repainted the chimney.
