Dryer Vent Wizard of SW Seattle

Great job. The dryer vent ran under the house and the previous owners built a deck over the outside opening. An animal had managed to get into the duct and died. Charles redirected the vent under the house to an existing crawl space vent and replaced the previous flexible ducts with metal ducts.

I needed to reroute my dryer vent after finding that the previous homeowner had blocked the vent when a deck was added. I called the number for Dryer Vent Wizard and made an appointment with what sounded like a national operator (I could tell she wasn't local). She set me up for an appointment the following week. On the day of the appointment, Charles called first thing in the morning to confirm our appointment and said he was about 30 minutes out. When he arrived, we explained the problem and he immediately got to work inspecting the old dryer vent. He gave us a very reasonable estimate and was done with the work in a few hours. When he was done, he explained the work he'd performed then gave us his card. He told us that we shouldn't hesitate to call if there are any problems or concerns. Overall, we were extremely impressed with Charles. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again! Highly recommend!

The install went great. Charles was efficient, knowledgeable, incredibly friendly, and went above and beyond. It was the beginning and the end of the transactions that are getting this negative review. For one, when you call Dryer Vent Wizard, you get their scheduling department. They are not friendly or knowledgeable about the products and services offered, and cannot answer any technical questions. Dryer Vent Wizard also charges $49 just to come out and give you an estimate. Now, they waive this and incorporate it into your fee for installation, but still. Paid estimates are garbage. Another note here, Dryer Vent Wizard is literally the only Dryer Vent company that would install a dryer vent in my area. My vent installation itself was very challenging. I did not have one at all in my basement (house built in 1922), and I needed about 26 FT of Duct Work, and a vent mounted through two layers of wall, and siding to get to the outside. It was complicated and I felt more comfortable with a professional doing the install than myself. The job itself, admittedly extensive, cost $863. To me this seemed incredibly expensive. It took Charles about 2.5 hours to install the dryer vent, and route it in a way that would be safe, low fire risk etc. I desperately wish I had gone to YouTube, or done more research to earn comfort for me to install this on my own. To me, the project was not worth that much. Come time to pay, I give Charles a check. He says that this is the preferred method other wise he'd have to charge me a 25% fee for processing a Credit Card. One week later, the check is still not cashed. When I contact Dryer Vent Wizard, the scheduling department is unable to provide me any information on what the billing process is, or how long it normally takes for checks to go through their system. No information at all. All they offer to do is reach out to Charles and ask him to contact me. I've requested Charles call me twice now, and no contact from Charles. No cashed check. Really disappointed. I feel like I got duped and scammed. Summary: 1. Scheduling is convenient, but expensive. $49 for an estimate. 2. Installation was great. 3. Billing is horrible. 4. REALLY expensive, but really the only choice in the South Seattle area if you're uncomfortable installing yourself. Hire them because there's no other providers available in the area, but know what you're getting into and budget an extra 25% to pay by credit card.
